One of the best things about autumn (or Fall for any of you across the ocean) is that you can crack out the mauves, the burgundy reds and the burnt oranges.
Autumnal colours just bellow messages of warm nights by the fire, hot chocolates and feeling snug wrapped in a knitted scarf :).
So I thought I’d show you some of my favourite nail polishes for Autumn time – they are a mix of purples, reds and teals. A few glitters are thrown into the mix too, as when you start to move towards Christmas time you can’t beat a bit of glitter!
First up, we have Essie’s ‘Bordeaux’ (pictured above) which is a beautiful burgundy, maroon colour. It’s quite dark, but that’s what winter is all about – it’s filled with dark and moody shades. This is my newest purchase and it has a brilliant, glassy effect. Essie polishes are amazing!
Next we have Ciaté’s ‘Silhouette’, which is a gorgeous dark red, with flecks of glitter running through it. It isn’t coarse bits of glitter, it’s quite fine but it is quite dramatic once you’ve painted it on. (By the way, why does silhouette have a H in it? Sil HOO ette). The glitter is like a green/browny/red reflection, which is SO pretty. This takes a good two coats to build up, but once you’ve done the second one it’s beautifully opaque.
Front and centre, we have Tanya Burr’s Midnight Sparkles, which is a firm autumn favourite of mine. This is quite a bright but dark purple glittery polish. Compared to the Ciaté polish this comes out quite opaque already (you can tell Tan has taken time to look at the formula for these polishes). This is a great polish for those times when you are in a rush – a few sweeps of this and you’re done! I’d recommend a layer of Seche Vite over the top to give a glassy finish that dries really quick!
Lastly, we have a No 17 polish and another from Tanya’s range (you can tell I like them, right?) The 17 polish is called ‘Navy Glint’, which is summed up by the name really! It’s a teal coloured glitter, which has AMAZING opacity. Seriously, a few strokes of this nail polish and you are done. It can look quite dull as it is so I’d recommend using a top coat :).
Then, Tanya Burr’s ‘New York Night’ is a deep purple that has no shimmer in it. Sometimes when using this, it’s so dark it looks a bit black, but I quite like that about it. This is quite good in terms of coats – I’d say max 2 coats is needed. This is a great kind of polish to use if you are going for a bit more of a grungy look, or if you’ve used kohl to line your eyes for example.
Those are my favourite polishes for Autumn time, I hope you’ve enjoyed this post and feel free to leave me a comment if you want to know any more about them!
