Shopping for mascaras is fun actually – sometimes there are quite innovative, new mascaras to try and having long lashes is definitely something that I love about my make up routine!
Thinking of myself as a bit of a mascara connoisseur, I thought I would tell you what I look for when picking a mascara – it makes all the difference to those lovely lashes of yours!
I love a good brush on a mascara, when I was in my teens I was an avid user of the Benefit Bad Gal lash which had a bloody massive fat brush. I thought that to have bigger lashes, you needed a bigger brush. To be honest I do think it helps but you can get the same effect with smaller brushes nowadays too.
You have the decision to make of whether you go for a plastic bristle brush, or a more ‘brushier’ type of brush. I used to think the plastic ones were terrible but actually you can get some decent ones nowadays. The plastic ones tend to be sturdier and apply more product than a more natural bristley brush.
A very black pigment is definitely something I look out for – there is nothing worse than a mascara that dries into an ashy grey. Sometimes going for more waterproof formulas or ones that state they are a darker black will help.
Another thing I look out for is a mascara that dries on the lashes. I really don’t like a tacky mascara – one that is tacky that you might want to stay away from is the Benefit Roller Lash (it does lengthen, but if you touch your lashes after they feel tacky and wet!)
These things will help you be satisfied with a mascara as well as the usual lengthening/volumising/false lash effects that we all want!
What do you look for in a mascara?!
