My Top Lipsticks with Swatches! MAC, Nyx, Topshop…

Hi everyone!

If I’ve been a bit quiet on the blogging front I apologise – things are pretty darn busy round these parts. Today I have a new video to bring to your attention! I was inspired by Kaushal Beauty to film my own Lip Swatch video which features my favourite lipsticks within my collection so you can see what they look like on, the formula/colour pay off etc.

I found her video really useful as it gave me an idea of what the lipsticks look like on brown skin tones – this will show you what kind of undertone the lipstick has (it could have a blue undertone which makes teeth look whiter, or an orange undertone which is slightly harder to pull off)

I hope you enjoy watching! I’m pretty proud of this video as I tried to edit it to music a bit!

🙂

Thanks for watching/reading my words that I write

My Obsession with Dainty Jewellery

Hello Everyone!

I have an obsession with dainty jewellery, particularly necklaces and earrings. I think there’s something so beautiful about a slim, delicate chain with a small, simple pendant. On asian skin as well, bright golds and silvers look really pretty!

The shops that I think are best for dainty, delicate jewellery are probably the usual suspects: Accessorize, H & M, and Topshop! I think gold is my favourite style, with silver and copper coming a close second. I have a picked a selection of my MOST favourite pieces for you to peruse below:

handm

This necklace is my most recent purchase, from H & M (I think it was around £4.99). This is quite a pale coppery colour, and it has a really thin chain and a simple horse shoe and circle design. The only thing I get annoyed about is untangling it!

turkeynecklace

This is one of my favourites 🙂 this necklace I bought when I went to Turkey with my sister. The shop was quite big, but it was run by a very old man with a white beard and shuffly sandals on. This is a REALLY thin gold ball style chain, with a bright blue and silver round pendant. The chain is so delicate that I have to be quite careful with it as I’m always scared it’ll snap!

topshop

I’m so pleased with how this photo turned out! This necklace is a beautiful chain with triangular amethyst stones. I like how there are 5 (an odd number always looks very satisfying) and the chain again is very dainty and thin. I love the bright purple of the stones against the coppery/gold chain.

accessorizez

This last necklace is from Accessorise, part of their ‘Z’ collection. The jewellery from the ‘Z’ range is a bit more expensive, but the pieces are usually so beautiful and dainty that I think it’s definitely worth it. The stones on this necklace are like a light aqua blue, so set against the bright almost yellowy gold it’s really striking. Something about it makes me think of Greece, they carry that style through to the packaging and font in the range design so I love that all the pieces are designed within the same style.

What is your favourite from the bunch? Or are you the opposite and loving in your face blingy necklaces and earrings?!

The Mini Haul is back…and it’s bigger

This time my mini haul isn’t so mini…the things I picked up I love, it was one of those days shopping where I go into a shop, immediately bin off the majority of clothes and accessories and find what I like really quickly. Love days like that!

The things I bought were from H & M (where I usually find it quite hit and miss), Accessorise, Topshop and the Body Shop.

MINIHAUL

First, I’ll start off with Accessorise! These earrings I bought are really beautiful, I went through around 10 pictures of them to show on here because the camera just doesn’t do them justice.

LILYFLORALEARRINGS

They are gold plated, part of the Z for Accessorise range (Lily Floral earrings, £10) and they feature a beautiful flowery design with a pearlescent light blue stone. They are a little bit dangly so look great if your hair is up (which I can just about do with mine now it’s grown a bit!). I know I’ll be wearing these a lot as they are very dainty but really really pretty.

Next up is H & M, where I picked up this gorgeous berry/plum coloured jacket. It was £14.99 and I think that’s pretty good for a smart jacket that can take you from Summer into Autumn as easy as anything. It is collarless, which I usually don’t like, but I think paired with some black jeans and a simple top it will look splendid :).

BERRYJACKET

I also paid The Body Shop a visit for a sneaky skincare purchase, all because of Kaushal from Kaushal Beauty!  In some of her recent beauty videos, she’s been using a Vitamin E Face Mist before make up to help keep skin hydrated. I have quite dry skin, so I thought I’d give it a go on top of or before my other moisturiser to keep my skin hydrated throughout the hot summer days. One surprise for me was the rosewater in the formula. Rosewater always reminds me of my sisters because they hate the smell/taste/all of it! Hahaha. For me, the Rosewater is great because it actually calms my skin and reduces the chance of any redness.

VitaminEfacemist

Next I popped into Forever 21 and the only thing I picked up was this brilliant nightie, and there’s not much I need to say about this, just look at it. It was £10, a complete bargain and JUST LOOK AT THE FACE ON THAT CHEESE:

nightie

FINALLY, I bought this amazing handbag from Topshop (£40) which is a simple black handbag with short and a long handle. I love that this has a long handle too (you can take it off if you don’t want it) and it has three compartments. The inside has a central zip area with two sections either side that close with a magnetic button.  I think this handbag will last me a long time, so I’m very happy with this purchase :D.

That concludes my mini/medium/reasonable haul!

Let me know if you’ve hauled anything recently and send me the links to your posts if you have :).

NEWSFLASH – I am on 198 Blog Lovin’ followers! Thanks you guys, it means a lot and please follow if you like the cut of my jib. I just thought of this phrase and thought I’d try it. #don’tjudge

Roll up the Partition, please

Bit of an obscure Beyoncé link, I know, but trust me roll wid it.

I discovered a gorgeous reddy plummy coloured lipstick within the Topshop cosmetics range and the perfect lip liner to go with it. I’m never too fussed about using the EXACT same shade lipliner to lipstick, so these two are good enough for me. The lipstick shade is called ‘Partition’ and it’s a great formula, creamy and matte and not long after applying it sets really well.

Even better, when used with the lip liner if you fill in all your lips the lipstick doesn’t really need reapplying (in my opinion).

topshop partition

You may look at this colour and think it’s more of an autumnal colour but the pink tone in this lipstick means it’s great for spring/summer too. I think it’s an ideal bold lip that can be paired with a summery outfit. In the swatches image above, the lip liner is the top colour and the lipstick is the lower swatch. I think you could even use both of these to create a bit of an ombré lip as the lipstick itself is quite pink toned.

This combination lasted all night! Both products are really affordable and I also love the packaging. The lipstick has the most satisfying click I ever did hear.

Have you tried any Topshop make up?

#ColourMeMarch – What outfit would I wear to the Cheltenham Races?!

Hello Everyone!

I was recently lucky enough to be accepted into the etailPR Blogger Network and stumbled upon their campaign for the Cheltenham Races Ladies Day which is on the 11th March. Although I’m unable to attend the event itself I love an excuse for a bit of online browsing 🙂 and so I’ve put together an outfit that looks off into the distance, to Spring!

I really can’t wait for spring and for the weather to get warmer, so the outfit that I’ve put together would be perfect for those days when it’s sunny and you are in the mood to wear some bright colours!

cheltenham
Dress from River Island, Bag from Topshop, Necklace from Accessorise and Shoes from New Look!

I went for a coral strapless lace dress (£40 from River Island), as this colour stands out from the crowd and the way that the lace falls below the hem is really beautiful. I have always loved lace dresses like this, that aren’t too restricting like the long sleeve versions you can sometimes get. This would also be very comfortable if you are standing by the racecourse cheering on your horse! (GO JIMMY GO, I imagine there’s a jockey somewhere called Jimmy).

I’m most definitely not a hat person, this statement stretches to fascinators too so instead to accessorise I’ve gone for a statement coral and gold necklace (£12 from Accessorise), and a simple black clutch bag (£28 from Topshop) that can have the handle looped around the wrist. This means once again when cheering on your horse, you can wave your arms in the ayer like you just don’t cayer, without spilling your 101 beauty ‘essentials’ all over the grass.

Finally, these slingback cream court shoes (£17.99 from New Look) are probably not the most practical part of the outfit but damn would they look good. Just hope that it doesn’t rain the night before…and to combat the grass you can get some of those heel add ons that appeared in Dragons Den that let you walk on grass without sinking! Genius!

What do you think to this outfit? 🙂

If you fancy entering this competition, all you need to do is upload a picture of your chosen outfit  and share it via Twitter. Make sure to use #ColourMeMarch and upload it before 1.50pm on Cheltenham Races Ladies Day, 11th March. Also don’t forget you can follow @ColourMeMarch to keep up to date and see all the other entries! Make your entry direct to the website here.

What would you wear?

(I would like to note I would wear two shoes, not one).

Mini Haul #4 – Miss Selfridge, Benefit, Accessorise

Here is a mini haul for you :), to give you some inspiration for shopping (call me an enabler). It had been a while since I went clothes shopping (I think) and I picked up a few key pieces to take me from winter into spring, as well as a few extra things!

Firstly I went to Miss Selfridge, and bought this lovely chenille jumper in a blushed pink colour:

SO SOFT
SO SOFT

Here is a close up so you can see JUST HOW SOFT IT IS:

IMG_2950

The jumper is cropped, so this moves me nicely onto my next purchase which was from River Island. I bought two long vest tops, so that I could wear one under this jumper without looking like a weird child:

IMG_2942

I was also on the look out for some low heeled, black ankle boots and headed to the most suitable place, which was New Look. They do great quality shoes and they are always so reasonably priced! I think these were £24.99, so not too bad and I know they will last me a long time. I loved these boots the moment I saw them, the gold buckles make them stand out without being too blingy:

IMG_2941

Next up was jewellery, so I popped to the holy grail which is Accessorise and had a sneaky look in the up to 70% off section. I picked up this gorgeous necklace which I actually think goes quite well with the jumper I picked up from Miss Selfridge! I really like that it’s not too blingy, but stands out and looks quite elegant. My mum’s opinion is the standard ‘it’s not blingy enough’ but half the things she wears a magpie would turn its nose up at. This was £5, down from £19! Bargain!

IMG_2946

IMG_2947

I bought another statement necklace from Dorothy Perkins that is a much more beady statement necklace, but will look great with a plain top or dress. I like how it looks like it’s from Egypt, with all the Cleopatra type colours. I’ve been a right floozy with my buying recently, buying only one thing from each shop!

IMG_2945

The last thing I bought was a bit of a treat, I had nipped into Boots and had been on the hunt for a good highlighter (either powder or cream form). I had been eyeing up the Benefit ‘Girl Meets Pearl’ highlighter for a while and decided to take the plunge and pick it up. I have been using this dabbed onto the high points of my cheekbones, it’s really subtle and adds a slightly golden sheen. I get the feeling this is going to last me a long time too, as a couple of clicks gives you enough for one application!

Have you been hauling anything recently? (I love reading people’s haul posts)

Which is your favourite item from this haul? 🙂

Pre-Christmas Mini Haul #2!

Following a brilliant weekend shopping with my best friend from University, I thought I would bring you a mini haul to show you the things that I bought. We had the best weekend meeting up with one of my most beautiful friends, shopping all day in Birmingham and nomming bacon sandwiches on Sunday morning. Apart from the fact we were both riddled with cold germs, it was perfect :).

Just to top it off, we both got an array of gifts…for ourselves! I am going to show you mine here:

1. New Look Tartan Skirt – £19.99

IMG_1776

I have fallen in love with this colour combination this winter, I think there is something so autumnal about the combination of blue and green, especially as it is tartan. The zip details really give it an edge, and it is the perfect length to be worn with black tights and winter boots (without looking too mini-skirtish).

2. New Look Pale Lace Jumper – £7.00 (was £14.99)

IMG_1795

This jumper is really light weight, and the pale pink lace across the bottom will look great worn with jeans or black trousers. Also, it was a bargain at half the price! Quite thin though, so I’ll have to wear a black cami underneath to make sure I don’t flash anyone…

3. River Island Faux Fur Leather Jacket – £65.00

IMG_1778

NOW, this is my favourite thing that I bought last weekend. I swear when I was walking around River Island I saw about 5 people carrying this jacket around either going to try it on or buying it (which pleased me and annoyed me at the same time). This jacket is genius, the faux fur is the SOFTEST thing you will ever touch (maybe apart from a kitten or something). Also, the fur is actually detachable, which means this jacket will take me through winter and into spring, so I don’t look like a Yeti that got lost. It’s quite pricey don’t get me wrong, but I think it is TOTALLY worth it.

 4. Topshop ‘Rio Rio’ Lipstick- £8.00

Originally when browsing through the Topshop cosmetics, I was actually looking for a dark plum shade, but then ‘Rio Rio’ caught my eye. A bright orangey red, this colour is really eye catching and will look great in summer, or as a daring shade for winter on those bright crisp mornings. I am a big fan of Topshop make up, and I think that the lipsticks in particular have great staying power, although the formula isn’t as great as say a Mac or YSL lipstick, it still does the job on a budget.

Also, may I add you get a very satisfactory ‘click’ when shutting this lipstick. This does matter.

IMG_1796

This finishes up my second Mini Haul! What pre-Christmas gifts have you been buying for yourself? 🙂

Mini Haul #1!

On the last day of Summer, what could be better than to browse a mini haul and draw a close to the gorgeous summer we have had this year. I’m quite looking forward to Autumn, being able to wrap up in a winter coat, stepping on some crunchy-ass leaves, and enjoying the run up to Christmas!

Below are a few things I have bought recently:

IMG_0889

Starting with something different, the amethyst coloured necklace was from Topshop, and I bought this when I was in London staying with my sister . I love the way the gold chain and lilac stones look together. I quite like that the chain is very thin, and the simple 5 stone design is modern and will go with many outfits. I’ve had a look online and I can’t find a link to it 🙁 but I think it was around £17, and it was bought from the Oxford Circus Topshop. The little gold links between the stones aren’t particularly sturdy, but sometimes to tighten them I’ll grab a pair of tweezers and gently squeeze the rings tighter to make sure they don’t stretch.

IMG_0890

The eyeshadow is a L’oréal Color Riche in ‘Cafe St Germain’, available here (shade 201). This is a perfect everyday shade, and from the look of it I think it would go on really well with a slightly damp brush too. The texture is really silky and velvety, and this shimmery taupe is a great alternative to a neutral cream eyeshadow.

IMG_0892

Now, we move onto the most expensive of the bunch (Benefit, ‘They’re Real’ Mascara £17.55 at Boots). I remember trying this out in a Boots store last year, and a Benefit sales assistant tried this on me. It is really great for lengthening and separating, but man is this hard to remove. I use the Simple Eye Make Up Remover, which is great at removing my usual mascaras such as the Maybelline The Falsies etc. ‘They’re Real’ is not completely unshift-able, but it does require a bit more rubbing and remover than your usual formula mascaras. The brush is really good – a sturdy plastic brush, with a weird spiky ball on the end which is ideal for the outer corner lashes. All in all, although this is good for lengthening, it does not beat my ultimate higher end favourite which is the Benefit ‘Bad Gal Lash’, with it’s mighty fat brush!

IMG_0891

And finally, I watched Tanya Burr’s latest baking video where she made the most SCRUMPTIOUS white and milk chocolate cookies ever…and she was wearing a gorgeous dark purple nail varnish from her own range. It’s called ‘Midnight Sparkles’ and I picked it up from Feel Unique for £3.59. This is a really lovely colour, not the thickest formula but it is still quite easy to build up a strong dark colour. The purple shimmer in it is really subtle, and it’s the perfect shade for Autumn/Winter. Here is a little snap shot (yes it’s instagrammed which is why I look orange):
