The Dry Skinned Girl’s Best Friends…

Favourite Skincare for Dry Skin

If you have dry skin, finding the right moisturisers can be quite difficult. You want something for day time that’s not too shiny, that you can layer make up over and for night time you want something that will hydrate your skin but not break it out!

A tough ask, some might say! I’ve got dry skin and even though it’s summer it doesn’t really change between the seasons so I’m pretty much stuck with it all year round (often it gets WORSE in winter which is exactly what I want..not). The amount of moisturisers you see up there might SEEM like a lot but often layering is the best way to lock moisture into your skin, stopping you looking like a dehydrated orange :’).

One thing that it’s important not to forget is protecting your skin from UVA/UVB rays (I dunno what the difference is between the two I just know that they are bad) so using a moisturiser with SPF’s in will help your skin stay smooth and free from sun damage!

I’ve heard some skincare-y people saying that the small amount of SPF in moisturisers isn’t enough to actually protect your skin from sun damage…but I’m not sure companies could make that claim if they didn’t do some good towards the cause *shrugs*.

Here’s what I use to keep my face from looking like shrivelly fruit!

The Body Shop Vitamin E Hydrating Face Mist, £9.50 –

If you have dry skin and the myriad of options for skincare are bamboozling you, if something says ‘hydrating’ you should pick it up because it will be helpful for your skin. I’m on my third bottle of this mist, it’s such an easy way of hydrating your skin and adding an extra layer to help your skin stay fresh throughout the working day (depends on how hard you work too, lol). I use this as the first step in my skincare, spritzing it over my face and then I apply the following:

Origins GinZing Eye Cream, £20 –

I’ve been loving using this Origins cream, it’s been a staple in my morning skincare and it’s perfect for applying under make up. This is quite a thick formula cream but it smooths into your skin really well – it leaves your under eyes looking glowy but this cream doesn’t have any sparkle/glitter pigments in it which is excellent.

I’ve just started using the Urban Decay Naked Skin concealer at the same point that I’ve started using this under eye cream, which was a bit silly because I don’t know which out of the two has caused my skin to feel SOFT AS A CLOUD BABY’S BUTT. It may be a combination of both, but I’ve found using this cream and the new concealer this is the best my under eyes have ever looked! As under eyes go, that is…

Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief Gel Cream, £34 –

This cream is a gel based formula so this means it packs alot more moisture into a skincare product that has a non greasy finish. This is why this is so perfect for day time! A pot of this tends to last me around 6 months, which is crazy because it’s not actually a big pot of product!

A little goes a long way, so once I’ve scrunched my eyes up in preparation to spritz the Body Shop Mist over my face I will smooth a small blob of this gel cream over my face as well, taking care to really rub it in and massage my skin at the same time. Doing this will increase the blood flow in your skin and this helps keep your skin healthy and glowy!

Paula’s Choice Clear Ultra Light Daily Mattifying Fluid with SPF, £10 –

Paula chooses good, you know. This mattifying fluid is completely new to me, I got it in my June Birchbox and I haven’t looked back since. Using this as an extra layer of moisture AND sun protectant has been a really lovely addition to my routine and it’s made me feel better about the potential sunlight I might be exposing my face to (it’s Britain though so who knows if the Sun actually wants to put his hat on and come out to play). I put a small amount of this on after the Clinique Gel Cream over my forehead, cheeks and nose :).

The Body Shop Drops of Youth Bouncy Sleeping Mask, £24 –

So, this mask is a bit like Marmite – you either love it or it makes you feel weird. This is a putty like texture, the mask is described as ‘bouncy’ and it literally is. I scoop up a bit of this and rub it between my palms and smooth over my face and neck at nighttime before bed as this is intended to be a cream/mask for adding hydration overnight. If you can get used to the consistency it really does good stuff to your skin. I feel like when I wake up with a labyrinth of pillow creases on my face, I know I’ve done my bit overnight to help plump them out again by using this!

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading up on the things I use to combat dry skin 🙂 they work for me, I can only hope they work as well for you!

Thanks for reading 🙂 till next time!

My Beauty Wishlist for June!

Every now and then my mind wanders and my bank account shivers with fear, because it knows that there are things floating round in my brain that I want to buy.

One way of quenching this odd materialistic thirst in the blogging world is to create a wishlist! 🙂

It makes you realise how much you would be spending if you did buy those things, it helps you do that thing where you think ‘do I actually need this’ but also it is there in case you want to buy something from it later and you can’t remember what it was called :’).

June Wishlist

So, for the month of June here are the things in my wishlist!

  1. The Body Shop Shade Adjusting Drops, £10 –

These drops look great, they are available in a light and dark shade so if I was to buy one I’d go for the darker one. You can use these to help change the shade of your foundation, but the most intriguing way I would want to try this is to use it to contour. I’ve seen it being used and it’s quite a thin consistency so it would blend really well.

2. Huda Beauty Lashes in the style ‘Samantha’, $20 or around £13 –

These lashes have been on my radar for a long time, but they are so damn expensive. So many people I follow on Instagram use these and they look insane when on, also they are meant to be reusable over and over again!

3. NARS Orgasm Blush, £23 –

In typically seductive fashion, NARS have nailed a ‘shade for all’ peachy shimmery blush called ‘Orgasm’. This is one of those cult shades that looks amazing in the pan and you just know it will be perfect for all skin tones!

4. Certifeye Eye Glitter, Any, £5 for a mini bottle!

Again, this item crept it’s way onto my wishlist via Instagram and these little bottles of cosmetic glitter are literally the best things I’ve ever seen. You would need an adhesive with these rather than just using a setting spray or something, but they look so good! I didn’t realise you could get mini bottles, I bet that’s all you’d really need!

Also, these guys do faux mink lashes too!

5. Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer, £17.50 –

I almost bought this concealer a few months ago after I bought my Estée Lauder Doublewear foundation, but then I changed my mind! This concealer is meant to be so creamy, medium coverage with a handy doe foot applicator so all in all it seems to be a pretty good bet concealer wise. I’d love to know if it’s worth the price, you can get so many good budget concealers nowadays, like the Collection Lasting Perfection one but I’m still curious about the UD one!

So in total this wishlist with only 5 items this time totals…

Price for wishlist

Thanks for reading people!

My Current Fool Proof Skin Care Routine

current skincare

I am really happy with my skin care routine at the moment – it’s been the best routine for making sure spots stay away, keeping my skin glowing and making my foundation apply better. I try to stick to it as much as possible, consistency is a great way of making sure your skin doesn’t break out – knowing your skin well is the best way to tailor a skincare routine to it.

My skin care routine is split into Daytime and Night time 😀

DAYTIME

Firstly, I have to have moisturised lips using the Nivea moisturising cream – it’s a firm favourite and habit that I have inherited from my mum, we’ve always had a pot in our house since I was little!

Then I apply my eye cream which is the Body Shop Nutriganics Smoothing Eye Cream. This comes in a little pump dispenser, I love applying this to wake me up in the morning as it is feels cold when you smooth it on! I use my in finger to gently dab this in, then just let it sink in. After this I use the Body Shop Vitamin E Face mist and I spritz my face around 3 -4 times. This is just an extra layer of moisture as my skin is quite dry – it really needs as much moisture as it can get! I use the Benefit Total Moisture cream just incase I have any dry patches like around my nose or cheeks.

My main facial moisturiser of choice is the Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief gel cream which is ALL THE MOISTURE. It’s so good, I am on my third (?) pot of this now – seriously it lasts for like 6 months at a time and I use it erryday. At this point, my skin has had enough time to let all the moisturiser sink before applying make up!

NIGHT TIME

nighttime

After an evening shower I use the Nivea Cream, apply the Nutriganics Eye Cream and then I usually mix a blob of the Body Shop Drops of Youth Bouncy Sleeping Mask and the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate together to kind of make a power night cream which is full of all the good stuff – this I do every few days rather than every day as I don’t want to use up my Kiehl’s all in one go! (is expense, yo).

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading my newest (and best) skincare routine, have you used any of these products?

The Best Make Up Removers…

Hi all!

I have tried a few different cleansers over the years and have a set of firm favourites that I can share with you all. There is no better feeling than taking your make up off at the end of the day and letting your skin breathe 🙂 (better still if you know you aren’t going to go anywhere where people might see your unmakeupped face).

There have been a lot of beauty bloggers saying that make up wipes are the devil and they are terrible for your skin! I think that using wipes is fine as long as you don’t move the dirt and make up around your face – use two wipes (1 to clean up the make up and 2 to fully cleanse the skin!)

I have 4 make up removers/cleansers to show you today that are definitely tried and tested 🙂 – number 4 evaded this picture, I have lost it, which is really annoying lol.

cleansers

  1. Simple Kind To Eyes Make Up Remover –

This eye make up remover is something that has been on my dressing table for as long as I can remember. A true favourite from when I was a teen (wow, makes me sound well old), this is perfect for sensitive skin and eyes and really does a great job of dissolving eye make up.

The way I use this is to use 1 make up wipe to remove my foundation, concealer etc and then I use the second to fold up, and I soak some of this eye make up remover onto it. Then I hold this over closed eyes, making sure that it covers my eyelashes. After about 10 seconds of holding this in place, the make up remover dissolves the make up so it wipes straight off. I use a corner to gently get the make up out of my eyelash roots but on the whole the remover does the best job to get most of the mascara, eyeliner or eyeshadow off! It’s also a steal at around £2.99 – bargain!

2. Bioderma Micellar Solution

Now, feel free to try Bioderma if you want, but if I were you and you had never tried a micellar solution before, go for something cheaper. You can get Bioderma for around £10, but there are so many cheaper versions nowadays like Nivea, Simple and Garner Micellar and I’d say these options cost on average £3!!!!

Bioderma is still really good, I’m not massively keen on the slightly chemically smell and it is VERY drying. It does a good job of removing make up but it is way too expensive for what it is.

3. The Body Shop Camomile Silky Oil Cleanser

Again, this product is around £10-11 BUT the big difference between this and Bioderma is that this product is completely and whole heartedly worth the money. This cleanser lives in my bathroom, patiently waiting throughout the day and rejoicing when I come home with a filthy face that needs cleaning. I use this in the shower – this cleanser is really such a joy to use. The oil is the silkiest thing ever and it makes my skin feel so clean after I’ve used it. It’s not the best as removing stubborn eye make up but what I tend to do is do my make up wipe stage and then shower and use this oil. You can still gently use this to remove whatever left from your eye make up and it will make your face SQUEAKY clean :).

4. Clinique Take The Day Off Balm – SO, this is the cleanser I have lost. If you can hear me, balm, please come back to me. You are perfect for travelling with.

This is a slightly pricier cleanser at £22, but Clinique are brilliant for skin care. I LOVE LOVE LOVE their Moisture Surge gel moisturiser, it’s my favourite moisturiser ever. The Take The Day off balm is a solid cleansing balm that turns milky once you rub it between your hands with some water, which you can then smooth over your face and it’s also good for removing your eye make up. This isn’t as drying as Bioderma, but if you are looking for a more moisturising cleanser you use with water the Body Shop Camomile Oil cleanser is better I think. This is the best for travelling as you can always snaffle a blob of this cleanser and be good to go! (Take a flannel so you can use this to take it off rather than just washing it off).

What are your favourite make up removers/cleansers?

I’d love to hear them, leave them in the comments below!

Hello People!

Now, having had the second week of my Body Shop ’24 Happy Days’ Advent Calendar, I can reveal the goodies that have been living in those teeny tiny boxes for the past couple of weeks. There has been a mix of skincare and make up, I was hoping for some more make up orientated products but there’s still some days left!

You can see Week 1 here!

Grab a cup of tea and take a look at days 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 :)…

This week we have had:

  • Vitamin E Hydrating Toner
  • Body Shop Eyelash Curlers
  • Elderflower Unperformed Eye Gel
  • Heart Soap
  • Almond Hand Cream

Out of these I was really pleased to get the Almond Hand Cream which is a staple in my nails routine and I’m really intrigued by the Elderflower Eye Gel. I hate Elderflower smells which is why I’m particularly pleased that this has no smell.

I’m excited to see what comes out of the little boxes next week! 😀

Have any of you guys got this advent calendar? What do you think of the Body Shop products? 🙂

Thank you for reading everyone, I hope you’re all getting in the Christmas spirit because I am!!

The Body Shop – Christmas Advent Calendar 2015!

Hi Everyone!

I hope you’re all having a good week – mine is going slow but fast at the same time..a very odd feeling. The time has come to reveal the little advent treats that I’ve been unboxing from my Body Shop Advent Calendar! This advent calendar is one I’ve wanted to try since last year – last year I had the Ciaté one and thoroughly enjoyed expanding my nail polish collection!

This year the calendar I’ve gone for is slightly more expensive but I know the value of the products is way over the price paid- AND I went to buy it on a day where the Body Shop were offering 30% off for loyalty card holders (which luckily, I am one of) :D. After you take off the 30% it actually makes this advent calendar a similar price to the Ciaté one I had last year.

So, here is the advent calendar – yes it’s made from cardboard, but they’ve made it into a beautiful christmassy green double door box with little advent boxes inside.

the body shop

I love the design of this because it’s traditionally Christmas, but it has a great well thought out layout on the inside 🙂

Now, I have already (by this point) opened THREE of the little teeny green boxes, but what I want to know is how you want me to blog about them!

I plan to do posts showing you around 2 at a time so I can actually explain my thoughts on the products that I get. Would you like that way of showing you the products? I’d love to know your thoughts – I could do a mega haul each week if you’d prefer!

Let me know in the comments below 🙂 or on Instagram @snosh90, OR on my Facebook page  (so many methods of communication for you to choose from!)

For now, I will show you the product I got in NUMBER ONE  of my advent calendar.

It wasn’t a show stopper but a nice product all round – it’s probably one that I’ll give to someone as a little present simply because the scent isn’t to my taste.

day 1

This is a Frosted Cranberry Shimmer Lotion which kinda sounds like the kind of thing I’d have wanted around 10 years ago! A shimmer lotion seems like a bit of a backwards step in beauty – back to the 90’s.

If this was in the advent calendar in a different scent I’d probably have been all over it. Now having been away at the weekend on a night out, the smell of this actually made me gag a little bit. The reason for that is I got the overwhelming smell of ALCOHOL. I’m not even sure where that came from as I didn’t even drink anything with cranbizzle in it :’)…weird.

Saying that, this hasn’t put me off the products in the advent calendar – I know that there’ll be loads of stuff that I like in here as I get through the little boxes! They have little quips on them too and questions to get you excited for opening them.

I’m excited to open more of these as we go through December – a beauty advent calendar is a great way of getting you excited for Christmas!!

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading this, I’ve definitely enjoyed writing it…

Let me know if you have a preference of how I post these little advent treats!

**Ugh a song by Beiber just came on that isn’t Sorry and I’m like SHUTUP**

Thanks for reading guys!

The Body Shop Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil

Hi Everyone! 🙂

I have always loved certain products from The Body Shop – I think it’s one of those shops that have done really well to change with the times. Now shops have to concentrate on social media, online shopping AND maintain their physical stores. My favourite products of all time from The Body Shop are my wooden paddle hair brush, the Almond Hand Cream and the Brazilian Hair Serum.

Now, I have another product to add to that list and it is the Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil. This is something I’ve wanted to invest in for a very long time – I soon realised that this is the perfect cleanser to leave in the shower to use once I have taken off the majority of my make up after a long day at work.

bodyshopcamomile

It comes in a handy pump bottle and it claims to be able to take off all make up including waterproof make up. It costs £11.00 but I’ve heard a lot of bloggers saying that one bottle lasts them AGES. (Btw it feels really good to do a good old product review, feels like I haven’t done one in ages). When I went to The Body Shop there was a buy one get one half price offer on skincare, so this was great!

This handy product now lives in my shower, I like using it best when I shower in the evening. I wouldn’t say it takes off ALL make up, because when I have used Benefit They’re Real mascara in the day and I want to remove it – this doesn’t take it ALL off. What I’ve found is that if I just use this to take it off I end up with ever so slight panda eyes when I come out of the shower – which I can see when I run a cotton bud under my eyes.

However, if I use a make up wipe to take off the majority of my make up before I get in the shower then the Camomile cleanser works great.

You are meant to apply this dry, then use some water to emulsify this oil as you rub it into your skin. I find that the scent is really calming and natural – this I liked. I like that it isn’t a thick oil either – it is most definitely a silky consistency and this is a great feature!

I do think my skin feels great after I use this, the only let down is that I don’t think it will remove all eye make up. At the same I don’t think it would feel as natural on the skin if the formula was stronger :).

I’m really glad I bought this, as I wanted a cleanser that I could use to make sure all of my make up is off after using wipes – so I’m really pleased!!

Have you tried anything within the Camomile range from The Body Shop?

Leave me a comment if so!

I hope you enjoyed this post, I’ll be posting a lot more in the run up to Christmas so keep your eyes peeled!

Thanks,

Roshni xxx

The Mini Haul is back…and it’s bigger

This time my mini haul isn’t so mini…the things I picked up I love, it was one of those days shopping where I go into a shop, immediately bin off the majority of clothes and accessories and find what I like really quickly. Love days like that!

The things I bought were from H & M (where I usually find it quite hit and miss), Accessorise, Topshop and the Body Shop.

MINIHAUL

First, I’ll start off with Accessorise! These earrings I bought are really beautiful, I went through around 10 pictures of them to show on here because the camera just doesn’t do them justice.

LILYFLORALEARRINGS

They are gold plated, part of the Z for Accessorise range (Lily Floral earrings, £10) and they feature a beautiful flowery design with a pearlescent light blue stone. They are a little bit dangly so look great if your hair is up (which I can just about do with mine now it’s grown a bit!). I know I’ll be wearing these a lot as they are very dainty but really really pretty.

Next up is H & M, where I picked up this gorgeous berry/plum coloured jacket. It was £14.99 and I think that’s pretty good for a smart jacket that can take you from Summer into Autumn as easy as anything. It is collarless, which I usually don’t like, but I think paired with some black jeans and a simple top it will look splendid :).

BERRYJACKET

I also paid The Body Shop a visit for a sneaky skincare purchase, all because of Kaushal from Kaushal Beauty!  In some of her recent beauty videos, she’s been using a Vitamin E Face Mist before make up to help keep skin hydrated. I have quite dry skin, so I thought I’d give it a go on top of or before my other moisturiser to keep my skin hydrated throughout the hot summer days. One surprise for me was the rosewater in the formula. Rosewater always reminds me of my sisters because they hate the smell/taste/all of it! Hahaha. For me, the Rosewater is great because it actually calms my skin and reduces the chance of any redness.

VitaminEfacemist

Next I popped into Forever 21 and the only thing I picked up was this brilliant nightie, and there’s not much I need to say about this, just look at it. It was £10, a complete bargain and JUST LOOK AT THE FACE ON THAT CHEESE:

nightie

FINALLY, I bought this amazing handbag from Topshop (£40) which is a simple black handbag with short and a long handle. I love that this has a long handle too (you can take it off if you don’t want it) and it has three compartments. The inside has a central zip area with two sections either side that close with a magnetic button.  I think this handbag will last me a long time, so I’m very happy with this purchase :D.

handbag

That concludes my mini/medium/reasonable haul!

Let me know if you’ve hauled anything recently and send me the links to your posts if you have :).

NEWSFLASH – I am on 198 Blog Lovin’ followers! Thanks you guys, it means a lot and please follow if you like the cut of my jib. I just thought of this phrase and thought I’d try it. #don’tjudge
