The Make Up Revolution Mermaid Palette <3

I have an exciting post for you today, where I’m showing you the Make Up Revolution Mermaid Forever Palette. I was after one of these Make Up Revolution palettes as they are really affordable and I just had to pick which one I wanted to try!

I was after one that had a variety of colours in it so it’d be perfect for a mix of looks – I had a look at a load of palettes but the Mermaid Palette was the most colourful and dramatic looking :).

This palette was a measly £8 and I have to say I was really impressed by the colour pay off of these eyeshadows (swatches are below so have a lil scroll down).

My Favourite Way of Storing False Lashes…

So if you’re like me, then you stock pile lashes for those occasions when you need them. The odd night out, a party or wedding/special event – but they need to be easily accessible and for me one of the most important things is that they don’t take up alot of room.

Some beauty bloggers I know of have come up with quite fancy ways of storing lashes – Kaushal who has her own very successful Youtube channel takes them completely out of their packaging and keeps them curled up in little compartments in a plastic box.

I prefer to have them still stuck to the plastic packaging as this REALLY helps keep the shape, I find.

How to Store False Lashes

The picture above shows all my lashes in my stashes (lol) before I tried to store them!

My favourite lashes are the Red Cherry Wispy lashes – I get mine from Amazon and they are amazing. You can reuse them around 3 times depending on how much glue you use and they have minimal packaging which is another reason I love them.

I quite like keeping the white part of the packaging and then just disposing of the cardboard around it AND the glue that comes with them. The reason I say that is that I love to use the DUO lash adhesive, it comes in a standard version but being a brunette it also comes in Dark Brown!! Which is genius.

How to Store Your False Lashes

So you can see that taking away the cardboard packaging and just keeping the white sections makes them much easier to store – I’m just using a plastic sturdy tub that some of my indian jewellery came in! It’s perfect and compact, and if you buy multi packs like the Ardell Demi Wispie lashes you see above with FOUR PAIRS then that makes it even easier. By the way ALL of the lashes in the picture above are now in that box!

I hope you liked this post! Simple yet effective, lol

The Best Heat Protectant Spray…

Hi All!

I have a mini review for you today…I’ve been trying this heat protectant from Toni & Guy for about a month now and I am loving the scent. Using heat protectant on your hair before styling or applying heat is SO important – when I do my hair and I don’t use heat protectant, BOY do I know about it.

I have had a tumultuous relationship with heat protectants. I FELL IN LOVE with the Dove heat protectant spray which smelled like fruits and berries and I’ve not been able to find it since then :'(. Then I tried a Got2B one and was completely digusted…the consistency was sticky and tacky and it didn’t smell delightful either.

So now I have found a heat protectant that I actually like I am most pleased!!

Toni & Guy Heat Protection Mist

This heat protectant mist protects against 230 degree heat from straighteners, hair dryers and curlers so this is perfect for everyday styling. The scent you get from this mist is essentially ‘I’ve been to the salon’, so it’s a really fresh, zingy scent that is really lovely to have in a mist.

This is the best heat protectant I’ve used since the Dove one! I still pine after that though…

Thanks for reading you lot,

L’Oréal Ultimate Blends Blogger Photoshoot – A London Vlog!

Happy Sunday Everyone!

So if you’ve seen on my Facebook page or Instagram, I did something very exciting on Friday. I was lucky enough to be chosen as a top 5 entrant for the Garnier Ultimate Blends Blogger competition, where I was given the chance to attend a photoshoot in London! Today you can see what I got up to and some exclusive behind the scenes footage!

I had a great (long) day and I was pretty damn tired at the end of it. It was loads of fun, I got to goof around with the cool things inside the beauty blogger box that they gave each of us and had a lovely time getting my hair and make up done. As this is the most interesting thing to happen to me during my 1.5 years of blogging, I decided to VLOG it! (My first one, you can see as it starts I’m mega awkward and then I gradually get marginally less awkward as the day goes on…)

Please go and give it a watch and a thumbs up if you’ve enjoyed it, I had a great time and am very intrigued to see where the photos etc will be used (could potentially be in Superdrug stores, like what the hell)

Thanks for watching lovely people,

Zoella Let’s Spritz Body Mist- Better than the first?

Hello everyone!

Today I have a quick review for you which is based around the Zoella beauty range – more specifically the body mists that she has launched in BOTH rounds of her beauty products. I tried a number of products from her original collection and loved most of them – the fizz bar smelled amazing and the candle I instantly burned out!

In particular one of my favourite things that I completely used up was the Blissful Mistful body mist. This was a really unique scent to me, I hadn’t ever smelled anything like it. It was packaged in an orange metal and glass spray bottle, so this made me think it smelled a bit like oranges too. It was generally very citrus-y and fresh which I really liked.

As I said I used that all up, then right on time (do do do do do – I’m thinking of that really old song sing it in your head!) she launched her second round of beauty products! These are themed around ‘Tutti Frutti’. I hate the way Frutti looks as a word, it looks like it should be pronounced ‘Frutty’ and that makes me feel a bit sick.

zoellalet'sspritz

I was a bit sceptical about how this would smell/look/smell…but one thing you can be confident about when trying something from the Zoella ranges is that it will not smell like anything you’ve ever smelled before! (should I say the word smell some more?)

This new spray called ‘Let’s Spritz’ is the complete opposite of the first body mist. This one is in a blue and pink bottle with a white lace print covering the back. The packaging follows the same theme as the previous range just with tweaks in colour and accents but it’s still very pretty!

zoella let's spritz tutti frutti

Right I’ve just grabbed the bottle to smell. So….it smells…powdery (talcum powdery new cleaned up baby smell) but at the same time it’s quite lemony and fresh. Don’t let the pink liquid put you off – the range is meant to be geared towards teens. The mist seems like it would be very sweet and a bit sickly from the packaging, but actually I think it is rather grown up – so I’m pretty impressed with that!

It’s a steal at £7 currently in Superdrug, and I think I will end up swapping between this one and the original because I love them both!

Have you tried anything else from the Zoella Tutti Frutti (shudder) range?

Battle of the Texturising Sprays

My hair is short, so doing things to make it look different is quite hard.

I tend to straighten it almost every day, at the weekend I give it a bit of a rest and it’s usually scraped up with a few pins in it to cure my mullet syndrome (not all of the hair fit in so I get a little tail at the bottom).

One thing I like to use is a texturising spray once it is straightened, which gives my hair more oomph and volume. I have two to review for you today, one of which is the spray I tend to reach for more often and the other one has it’s pros but it disappoints in the performance factor.

Round 1…ready…FIGHT!!

battleofthetexture

The L’Oréal #TXT Texture Styling spray is designed to add volume without the backcombing. This is a thin tall bottle so it feels like you are still getting quite a lot of product which is great.

It sprays nicely and it smells so so lovely! The smell is what makes me keep using this, as unfortunately it doesn’t really do what it says on the bottle. At first, when you spray this into your hair and foof it up a bit your hair looks great, but it definitely doesn’t last very long.

I usually use this by lifting up the top section of my hair all around my head and spraying this into the root and the length all the way around. This way the top layer of hair doesn’t get too much product in it and it still holds the texture (if you’re using the right spray :)).

The other spray is called BlowPro (curious name, I know). This spray is much more pricey than the L’Oréal one (that one’s only £3.79 whereas the BlowPro was around £10 (click here for a link but I’m not sure if Superdrug sell it anymore :()

The BlowPro spray gives out a much finer mist, which I think I prefer. What I love about this one in particular is that I can spray it in in the morning, go to work and look in the mirror and I can see that it’s still working it’s magic :).

BLOWPRO

SO, at the end of that battle the Blow Pro Textstyle Texturising Spray is the winner (applauds).

The claim on the bottle is accurate, so I’m pleased. It’s just a shame it’s almost finished now…

Have you used any great texturising sprays?

Favourite Scents for Summer

We are well into May now and the sun is shining well after we all get home from work. That means barbecues, drinks and fun times in the sun. To take you from spring into summer, I’ve put together my three favourite fragrances to wear in summer.

When it comes to fragrances that are light and fresh, these are definitely the kinds of scents I reach for in the summer time on a daily basis.

fragrancesforsummer

The fragrances above (back to front) are: The Body Shop Body Mist in Vanilla, Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess and the Zoella Blissful Mistful Body Mist. Apologies if you click on the Bronze Goddess link and find that it’s out of stock, that stuff seriously flies off the shelves! Online or real life…

The most summery of all of these fragrances has to be the Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess. This is the definition of summer for me, it’s the most beautiful coconut-ty beach-y scent you could ever dream of. What’s great about this is that it has a slight smokiness (which is a bit sexual!) that you can smell once it’s actually on your skin, about 5 minutes after you’ve applied it. It’s perfect for day time, night time, any time really! My ultimate fave.

The Body Shop Vanilla Body Mist is a bit of a throw back to my teen years. It’s ideal if you can’t afford scents like the Bronze Goddess which is about £45. This is a very warm, sweet but not too sweet scent that’s perfect for daytime and work. A spritz of this on the wrists, side of the neck and hair is the ideal way to apply as you pirouette on out the door.

Finally, this Zoella Body Mist is the most unusual of the bunch IMO. This packaging is gorgeous, not quite a rose gold but more of a rose copper? *can you get that?!*

The scent as I’ve said is quite unusual, the way I would describe this is probably an orange-y clean, fresh smelling scent. It’s the kind of scent that lasts really well and you can put it on in the morning and then every now and then through out the day get a whiff of it and think ‘mm’. (Well, you might do).

What are your favourite scents for summer? Am always open to recommendations!

Tanya Burr Lip Gloss Review – Aurora

I have followed Tanya on Youtube for about a year now, and I was so pleased for her when she revealed she had a Lips and Nails range coming out. I was a bit late to the party, but I popped into my local Superdrug to pick out a shade of her new lip gloss range to try out.

I went for the shade ‘Aurora’, and I must admit part of me was convinced this was the right one for me because of the name (hmm makes sense…no?) The name ‘Aurora’ makes me think of the film Sleeping Beauty, and when I saw the colour it made perfect sense for it to be named so.

The gloss itself has a slight shimmer, but is packed full with pigment. I wasn’t expecting the colour to be so strong, but actually it’s one of the best things about it.

‘Aurora’ – Tanya Burr Lip Gloss

The consistency is quite thick, and the doe foot applicator means it is really easy to apply. As I said, this lip gloss really goes on the colour it is in the tube.

I wear this to work regularly, and the great thing is it wears off slowly and evenly. Some lip glosses start to disappear at the centre of your pout, but this really has great staying power due to the impressive pigment. After about 8 hours, you can still see a pretty pink tint on the lips, but it doesn’t leave them dry or chapped.

So glad this didn’t fall over…

You can tell that Tanya has had heavy involvement in the formula and colours, because they really are great quality glosses. 🙂 Thumbs up from me!
