Fashion Mini Haul :D

So, I went shopping.

Luckily I managed to restrain myself and I didn’t go mad, but I was really pleased with what I bought. There is a definite theme to this mini haul, and that is SPRING. I had a browse around in River Island but there I had one of those days where I just didn’t see anything that I liked.

This soon changed as I strolled around Dorothy Perkins, Accessorise and Miss Selfridge!

What I love about spring is that all the bright, more sunny colours slowly make their way into our wardrobes and on a sunny day there’s nothing better than wearing bright coral, or a pastel hue.

Here are my springtime purchases:

I have no idea how I managed to fold the t shirts and jumpers like they do in the shop, I think it was a bit of a fluke.

This jumper is the softest thing I have ever worn! It’s so beautiful and comfy, with the lace white heart details it’s pretty and perfect for spring. It is a touch on the warm side I think but we all know what Britain is like. This will be perfect for days where it’s chilly but sunny :). I bought this from Dorothy Perkins in the sale, was £26 I got it for £15.

Also from Dorothy Perkins I bought this long sleeveless coral pink shirt. I can’t actually remember how much this was 🙁 but it wasn’t very expensive, and would look perfect with leggings and sunglasses (worn on my eyes not on my legs). Also, this would be a great shirt to tuck into an A line skirt for hotter days.

I also bought a pair of lighter style jeans/jeggings (what a horrid word jeggings is, it sounds like a QVC product). I was initially worried these wouldn’t be very flattering. Thing is, they could be but even if they are I like them. So I’mma wear em. They were £20, so not too pricey.

This T shirt I am IN LOVE with. The writing is like little beads, and it is so comfortable. I don’t usually like T shirts or tops with writing on because they remind me of those awful shirts that would say things like ‘Little Miss Perfect’ – BLEUREFHEGHGH.

This top is just so wearable, and very flattering on. I think this was only around £12, which isn’t too bad as it’s really good quality (from Miss Selfridge).

Lastly, from Accessorize I bought the most amazing ear cuff that isn’t an ear cuff. It is like a normal earring, and then at the top it has a little clip that clips comfortably round the top of your ear. I really loved the star design as it reminds me of these little star earrings my big sister used to wear when she was a teenager. This was £12 I believe, and worth every penny. I think I’ll be wearing this a lot this summer!

MOTD & OOTD – Shopping!

Hello all!

It’s a gorgeous sunny day today, I lost £10 on the Grand National and spent more money out shopping! (Haul to come…)

A good day all round so far I’d say…

I thought I’d show you my make up and outfit of the day so you can see what I put on my face and body to look like an acceptable human being! (Yay!)

Let’s start with make up:

11thapril
Might be the weirdest smile I’ve ever pulled…

This is quite a spring time look, with a dewy pink lip and a subtle light eye shadow, with winged liner.

For skin, here are the products I used:

11thapril2

Then, for eyes and eyebrows here are the products I used:

11thapril3

I used an angled brush and the Natural Collections ‘Crushed Walnut’ eyeshadow to fill in my eyebrows. Using the Maybelline Brow Drama on top is great because it stops them from being two matte slugs and actually adds fibres to them. From the Lorac Pro Palette I used the colours Cream to highlight my brow arch, Champagne on the lid and Taupe through the crease.

For lips, I found this combo by accident. Once I used Creme Cup by MAC and didn’t like how pale it was, so I added some Revlon Lip Butter in 053 Sorbet. This creates a really lovely creamy pale pink, but you can build up the Lip Butter to make it much brighter as the Revlon colour is much more fuchsia pink.

11thapril4

Now for the outfit…I wore a cropped stripey black and white top from Missguided, navy trousers from Forever 21, my leather jacket from River Island and maroon pumps from Primark. Phone case is from Kate Spade.

Hope you have all had a lovely sunny day!

#ColourMeMarch – What outfit would I wear to the Cheltenham Races?!

Hello Everyone!

I was recently lucky enough to be accepted into the etailPR Blogger Network and stumbled upon their campaign for the Cheltenham Races Ladies Day which is on the 11th March. Although I’m unable to attend the event itself I love an excuse for a bit of online browsing 🙂 and so I’ve put together an outfit that looks off into the distance, to Spring!

I really can’t wait for spring and for the weather to get warmer, so the outfit that I’ve put together would be perfect for those days when it’s sunny and you are in the mood to wear some bright colours!

cheltenham
Dress from River Island, Bag from Topshop, Necklace from Accessorise and Shoes from New Look!

I went for a coral strapless lace dress (£40 from River Island), as this colour stands out from the crowd and the way that the lace falls below the hem is really beautiful. I have always loved lace dresses like this, that aren’t too restricting like the long sleeve versions you can sometimes get. This would also be very comfortable if you are standing by the racecourse cheering on your horse! (GO JIMMY GO, I imagine there’s a jockey somewhere called Jimmy).

I’m most definitely not a hat person, this statement stretches to fascinators too so instead to accessorise I’ve gone for a statement coral and gold necklace (£12 from Accessorise), and a simple black clutch bag (£28 from Topshop) that can have the handle looped around the wrist. This means once again when cheering on your horse, you can wave your arms in the ayer like you just don’t cayer, without spilling your 101 beauty ‘essentials’ all over the grass.

Finally, these slingback cream court shoes (£17.99 from New Look) are probably not the most practical part of the outfit but damn would they look good. Just hope that it doesn’t rain the night before…and to combat the grass you can get some of those heel add ons that appeared in Dragons Den that let you walk on grass without sinking! Genius!

What do you think to this outfit? 🙂

If you fancy entering this competition, all you need to do is upload a picture of your chosen outfit  and share it via Twitter. Make sure to use #ColourMeMarch and upload it before 1.50pm on Cheltenham Races Ladies Day, 11th March. Also don’t forget you can follow @ColourMeMarch to keep up to date and see all the other entries! Make your entry direct to the website here.

What would you wear?

(I would like to note I would wear two shoes, not one).

Mini Haul #4 – Miss Selfridge, Benefit, Accessorise

Here is a mini haul for you :), to give you some inspiration for shopping (call me an enabler). It had been a while since I went clothes shopping (I think) and I picked up a few key pieces to take me from winter into spring, as well as a few extra things!

Firstly I went to Miss Selfridge, and bought this lovely chenille jumper in a blushed pink colour:

SO SOFT
SO SOFT

Here is a close up so you can see JUST HOW SOFT IT IS:

The jumper is cropped, so this moves me nicely onto my next purchase which was from River Island. I bought two long vest tops, so that I could wear one under this jumper without looking like a weird child:

IMG_2942

I was also on the look out for some low heeled, black ankle boots and headed to the most suitable place, which was New Look. They do great quality shoes and they are always so reasonably priced! I think these were £24.99, so not too bad and I know they will last me a long time. I loved these boots the moment I saw them, the gold buckles make them stand out without being too blingy:

IMG_2941

Next up was jewellery, so I popped to the holy grail which is Accessorise and had a sneaky look in the up to 70% off section. I picked up this gorgeous necklace which I actually think goes quite well with the jumper I picked up from Miss Selfridge! I really like that it’s not too blingy, but stands out and looks quite elegant. My mum’s opinion is the standard ‘it’s not blingy enough’ but half the things she wears a magpie would turn its nose up at. This was £5, down from £19! Bargain!

IMG_2947

I bought another statement necklace from Dorothy Perkins that is a much more beady statement necklace, but will look great with a plain top or dress. I like how it looks like it’s from Egypt, with all the Cleopatra type colours. I’ve been a right floozy with my buying recently, buying only one thing from each shop!

IMG_2945

The last thing I bought was a bit of a treat, I had nipped into Boots and had been on the hunt for a good highlighter (either powder or cream form). I had been eyeing up the Benefit ‘Girl Meets Pearl’ highlighter for a while and decided to take the plunge and pick it up. I have been using this dabbed onto the high points of my cheekbones, it’s really subtle and adds a slightly golden sheen. I get the feeling this is going to last me a long time too, as a couple of clicks gives you enough for one application!

Have you been hauling anything recently? (I love reading people’s haul posts)

Which is your favourite item from this haul? 🙂

6 Very Real Life Struggles I Have Encountered

We all know that there are a few struggles we all have to deal with on a daily basis, and this post just rounds up some of the ABSOLUTE ORDEALS I have had to go through over the past few months.

ORDEAL #1 – CLOTHES SIZES IN DIFFERENT SHOPS –

I love a bit of online shopping, but what I hate is that the problem of inconsistent sizing between physical high street stores is somewhat amplified when you are shopping online. Cue me choosing a size 8 dress that would probably fit on my arm, rather than my whole body. In my brain I am thinking, ‘Hang on a second, in DOROTHY PERKINS I can fit into a size 8.’ Welllll that’s because in Dorothy’s Fashion Empire their size 8’s are already like tents. I’m sure all ladies of different sizes can relate to this inconsistency. Sort it out, you shops you.

River Island?! Pah! More like...Wrong Size...Island.
River Island?! Pah! More like…Wrong Size…Island.

ORDEAL #2 – BEAUTY BRANDS DISCONTINUING YOUR FAVOURITE PRODUCT –

Although beauty brands are amazing and innovative, they are also fickle players. The reason I say this, is that you could buy an item, absolutely LOVE it, and after a few months go to repurchase and they have discontinued the foofing thing.

I encountered this loss when I went to my local Boots to repurchase a 17 nail polish in the most beautiful sea weed green glitter. To my dismay, I saw a crap aqua glitter replacement that had none of the beauty of it’s predecessor. Take a look at my lost love below:

Ahh, I miss you.
Ahh, I miss you.

ORDEAL #3 – WHEN THAT INGENIOUS IDEA OF YOURS DOESN’T WORK –

So, you guys might not know this but I am an avid baker. I usually find a few staple recipes and stick to those, venturing out to sometimes change a recipe slightly to see if I can find the next better version of it.

Cue Coffee & Walnut…& Nutella fairy cakes. Well, I couldn’t just do the recipe, could I?!

I decided it would be a good idea to add a splodge of Nutella into each fairy cake, thinking it would melt and become a gooey paradise of chocolate goo.

Instead, it did hardened and sank to the bottom like dis:

Oh Nutella, you cruel mistress of confectionery.
Oh Nutella, you cruel mistress of confectionery.

ORDEAL # 4 – FINDING OUT THE FOOD YOU ALWAYS THOUGHT YOU WOULD LIKE DISGUSTS YOU –

A nice day shopping out in Birmingham. Oh, let’s stop for breakfast shall we?! OKAI.

Oh, let’s try Eggs Benedict, I would love Hollandaise sauce.

No Roshni. No you would not.

The sauce is deceptive, in reality it is not savoury and delicious, it is a tangy hell hole of deceit.

Holland-oh my days.
Hollan-oh my days.

ORDEAL #5 – WHEN YOU SEE A MASSIVE DOG AND WANT TO RIDE IT –

There isn’t really much explanation needed here.

You see a massive dog. Want to ride it. Realise you can’t. Cry.

There were other people taking pictures of it too! Not just me!
There were other people taking pictures of it too! Not just me!

ORDEAL #6 – WHEN YOU MEET ELSA FROM FROZEN IN REAL LIFE AND REALISE SHE’S SHITE –

So in ‘Frozen’, Elsa’s ‘Let It Go’ dress is FABULAMAZING.

When I met Elsa and Olaf in Chester town, her dress was, well, an atrocity.

Remember that odd sequin material you would get at primary school that you could use to stick onto drawings of mermaids?

Well basically she had a sheath of that pinned to a white long sleeved T shirt.

See for yourself!

Poor show Elsa, poor show.
Poor show Elsa, poor show.

What real life struggles have you ‘Pressers been encountering recently?!

Pre-Christmas Mini Haul #2!

Following a brilliant weekend shopping with my best friend from University, I thought I would bring you a mini haul to show you the things that I bought. We had the best weekend meeting up with one of my most beautiful friends, shopping all day in Birmingham and nomming bacon sandwiches on Sunday morning. Apart from the fact we were both riddled with cold germs, it was perfect :).

Just to top it off, we both got an array of gifts…for ourselves! I am going to show you mine here:

1. New Look Tartan Skirt – £19.99

IMG_1776

I have fallen in love with this colour combination this winter, I think there is something so autumnal about the combination of blue and green, especially as it is tartan. The zip details really give it an edge, and it is the perfect length to be worn with black tights and winter boots (without looking too mini-skirtish).

2. New Look Pale Lace Jumper – £7.00 (was £14.99)

IMG_1795

This jumper is really light weight, and the pale pink lace across the bottom will look great worn with jeans or black trousers. Also, it was a bargain at half the price! Quite thin though, so I’ll have to wear a black cami underneath to make sure I don’t flash anyone…

3. River Island Faux Fur Leather Jacket – £65.00

IMG_1778

NOW, this is my favourite thing that I bought last weekend. I swear when I was walking around River Island I saw about 5 people carrying this jacket around either going to try it on or buying it (which pleased me and annoyed me at the same time). This jacket is genius, the faux fur is the SOFTEST thing you will ever touch (maybe apart from a kitten or something). Also, the fur is actually detachable, which means this jacket will take me through winter and into spring, so I don’t look like a Yeti that got lost. It’s quite pricey don’t get me wrong, but I think it is TOTALLY worth it.

 4. Topshop ‘Rio Rio’ Lipstick- £8.00

Originally when browsing through the Topshop cosmetics, I was actually looking for a dark plum shade, but then ‘Rio Rio’ caught my eye. A bright orangey red, this colour is really eye catching and will look great in summer, or as a daring shade for winter on those bright crisp mornings. I am a big fan of Topshop make up, and I think that the lipsticks in particular have great staying power, although the formula isn’t as great as say a Mac or YSL lipstick, it still does the job on a budget.

Also, may I add you get a very satisfactory ‘click’ when shutting this lipstick. This does matter.

IMG_1796

This finishes up my second Mini Haul! What pre-Christmas gifts have you been buying for yourself? 🙂
