MAC’s Patisserie – The Best Nude Ever?

**read to the end of this post for a surprise announcement!**

So, a while ago, #NationalLipstickDay happened and Debenhams took full advantage by offering a £5 off 2 lip products promotion.

I umm’d and ahh’d about which two I wanted, I knew for a fact I wanted another MAC lipstick but which one was the problem?!?! I did a bit of research (which involved going through each shade and google image searching it) and landed on ‘Patisserie’. At first I was unsure about it, I thought it might be too light for me. I rave about the shade ‘Hug Me’ (it’s a lustre) but that is a slightly more brown-y version of ‘Patisserie’.

*btw I have bits of glitter on my face because I was doing something make-y :p. In this picture I have a gloss over the top of ‘Patisserie’*

Having tried this without a lip liner, I have to say I’m actually really impressed! I’ve been reaching for this lipstick pretty much every day now! It’s the most perfect combination of a peachy pinky nude with a touch of golden shimmer. This doesn’t wear off patchily, it’s a lustre so it’s not too opaque in the first place. Another great thing with that is you don’t need to be too precise, it is one of those lip products that you can literally grab on the way out the door and apply without a mirror!

This is quite a creamy formula and although it is MAC it’s not drying at all. This lipstick now has a little home in one compartment of my hand bag and I am very glad this is the case :).

What are your favourite MAC lipsticks?

Thank you to you followers, those that are new and those that followed right at the beginning when I had no idea what I was doing :).

Kendall and Kylie Jenner Balmain Inspired Make Up Tutorial

Happy Saturday everyone!

This week in particular feels like it’s been a bloody long one, not particularly sure why (maybe because I been workin’ so hard ;)). The treat for your eyes this morning is an inspired tutorial which came about when I saw that Kendall and Kylie Jenner had been the stars of the newest Balmain fashion campaign.

I love the style of it: dark, moody, navy blues and glittery silvers. Right up my street! I’ve created a simpler more pared down look so that you can actually wear this outside and not have people think you are a Dementor.

I’d love it if you could take a  look (it’s only short, imagine my joy when it uploaded quicker) and please leave a like if you enjoyed it! If you have a YT account and want to see more like this, please also subscribe.

BREAKING NEWS: I have also installed the Pin It hover over on my images! If you see anything that you’d love to have on a Pinterest Board you can now Pin directly from my blog! Ahhhh technology 😀

Here are a few more pictures so you can see the make up close up:

Hope you all have a lovely Saturday!

My Top Beauty Gripes

I’m going to run down the top 5 beauty gripes, if you have any beauty gripes I haven’t thought of please leave them in the comments so we can unite in our grumbles!

I think this post is going to get some of you nodding along in agreement, and if you are beauty junkies like me then you will know all about these annoyances.

1. MAC packaging

OK, so you can’t fault the products. Or the tools. One thing that MAC mavens MUST have encountered is the little plastic discs popping out of the black eyeshadow or blusher pots. Yep, the ones that you can’t get back in.

For one thing, the product is now extremely irritating to use. Rattly. Messy. Your powder will start to disintegrate. There is potential for your entire make up bag to end up looking like a beauty massacre.

My dad even tried to superglue the disc from my Satin Taupe back in but it just looked a mess!

2. Overpriced Skin Care

Since when was it OK for big beauty brands to charge over the odds for the smallest amount of skin care possible?

Benefit is a classic, they aren’t even famed for skin care and yet they can charge ridiculous prices. When you work it out to be around 59p PER GRAM that is verging on the ridiculous. Nevertheless if it feels nice on your skin then hey ho :).

3. Powder Breakages

Particularly when travelling, you guys will probably have known the horror when you open your make up bag, and find suspicious particles covering your make up brush handles…look further and you find your favourite powder completely smashed and just, everywhere.

Somewhere, some special person must be working on this predicament right now and they will probably end up making a lot of money.

Prepare to reel at the below image:

4. Lip Gloss and Your Hair become very quick BFF’s

You leave the house with some newly slicked on lip gloss or a gloss lipstick, only to find that the world’s most violent tornado has arrived outside your house.

The worst product of this scenario? As soon as you turn a corner your hair ends up welded to your bottom lip. No matter how many times you try to reinstate the air between your hair and said bottom lip, it just won’t budge. Also, you have now smeared it across your cheek.

We've all been there.
We’ve all been there.

5. Ruining a brand new lipstick

In the past, I have managed to ruin lipsticks in really unimaginable ways. The one I have taken a picture of to include here I don’t even remember how I did it :/

Typical, that when you get your brand new shiny lipstick out of it’s case and pop the top off, a freak slip of the hand means you can do one of the following:

1. Drop it.

2. Clip the top of the bullet when you try to shut the lipstick but haven’t put it away properly.

3. Take a chunk out of it by accident.

I hope you enjoyed hearing me moan about really important beauty issues.

What are your biggest beauty gripes? 🙂

*Disclaimer* – a couple of these pictures are from google, one reason being that I wasn’t going to smash a powder on purpose!

Tanya Burr Lip Gloss Review – Aurora

I have followed Tanya on Youtube for about a year now, and I was so pleased for her when she revealed she had a Lips and Nails range coming out. I was a bit late to the party, but I popped into my local Superdrug to pick out a shade of her new lip gloss range to try out.

I went for the shade ‘Aurora’, and I must admit part of me was convinced this was the right one for me because of the name (hmm makes sense…no?) The name ‘Aurora’ makes me think of the film Sleeping Beauty, and when I saw the colour it made perfect sense for it to be named so.

The gloss itself has a slight shimmer, but is packed full with pigment. I wasn’t expecting the colour to be so strong, but actually it’s one of the best things about it.

‘Aurora’ – Tanya Burr Lip Gloss

The consistency is quite thick, and the doe foot applicator means it is really easy to apply. As I said, this lip gloss really goes on the colour it is in the tube.

I wear this to work regularly, and the great thing is it wears off slowly and evenly. Some lip glosses start to disappear at the centre of your pout, but this really has great staying power due to the impressive pigment. After about 8 hours, you can still see a pretty pink tint on the lips, but it doesn’t leave them dry or chapped.

So glad this didn’t fall over…

You can tell that Tanya has had heavy involvement in the formula and colours, because they really are great quality glosses. 🙂 Thumbs up from me!

My attempt at an innovative swatch…
