Final Body Shop Advent Calendar Goodies…AND 2015 for Roshni Reviews!

**EXCLUSIVE – read until the end for a snapshot of 2015 for Roshni Reviews!**

As you know I had a Body Shop Advent Calendar at Christmas and I thought I would start the new year by running over the last few things I received after Christmas! This has been a lovely advent calendar to open, filled with great value products, perfect minis for going away and little surprises.

I’ve loved the unusual products the most – things like the Eye Gel, the little heart soaps and the Fuji Green Tea range which smells amaaazing!

Here I’ll now show you the last 6 days of the advent calendar taking us up to Christmas day! I can’t believe it’s 2016 now!

This was the surprise!! You think there’s only boxes up to the 24th but that had a SURPRISE box in for the 25th!! SUCH EXCITEMENT

Aaaaand a Christmassy red nail polishes rounds off the amazing set of goodies from this advent calendar!

In the last 6 days we had:

  • Honey Lip balm
  • Purple (think it’s blackberry) scented heart soap
  • Strawberry scented hand cream
  • Emery board
  • Italian Summer Fig Perfume (not entirely sure what I think of this yet…)
  • Bright red nail polish!

I’m sad there will be no more advent calendar doors to open but I am excited for what is going to happen this year!

I’m so excited to see what happens this year and I’m pleased to say I’m still enjoying blogging just as much as when I first got into it 🙂

I hope you all had an amazing new year and all the best for 2016 😀

Lots of love,

Deborah Lippmann ‘Roses in the Snow’ – Review

Hello People!

I hope you’re having a lovely weekend so far :). I’ve got a very BEAUTIFUL nail polish set to review for you today, by Deborah Lippmann. The set is called ‘Roses in the Snow‘ and features a gorgeous blush pink, muted shade and a pretty pink glitter top coat. You can buy this set from Selfridges, (apologies may be out of stock), Look Fantastic, and I think you can get it from Harvey Nichols too (my family and I had an early, fake Christmas and my sister bought this for me as a present :)).

This set is packaged so nicely, it actually has snow in the clear section of the packaging <3

I’m really a massive fan of blushed pinks at the moment and have been wearing this colour in every way that I can!

The bottles are so pretty, I love the way the actual glass bottle is different to normal polish bottles because at the bottom there is a chic looking indent in the base of it. The bottle tops have a pearlescent feel to them which make them feel really luxurious. The shades themselves are stunning…‘Modern Love’ is the blushed pink polish and ‘Some Enchanted Evening’ is the pink glitter.  The shades and the formula is very good – but I can’t say I’m wild about the staying power of these.

Using my trusty Seche Vite top coat the tips of the polish still wore off, and the glitter top coat adhered well but didn’t last very long. I found that the polish was PEELABLE by around day 4 – which is a real shame. I don’t know if this is due to the formula OR the fact that I used Seche Vite over the top (usually it lasts a lot longer than that, sometimes two weeks).

roses in the snow

I really like the shades of these polishes but I have to say I was disappointed with the lasting power – when you think about the price of this set it is quite a lot for just two polishes where the bottles are actually quite small. Something like Essie would probably be better value for money and the formula could be better too!

I hope you enjoyed reading this post!

On a quick note, I’m pleased to tell you I am almost at 300 followers on Instagram and I’m now on 425 followers on Blog Lovin’!

Thanks to anyone who is following me, I genuinely love being part of these two platforms and I am particularly obsessed with Instagram <3

A Christmas Beauty Wishlist – Sephora

Oh my, Sephora. What have you done to my eyes. I have been browsing (as you do) on Sephora and I always tend to look and NEVER BUY. I think I have only ever ordered once from Sephora and I can’t even remember what it was that I bought lol.

This Christmas I have started looking for presents for others – you know, I’m selfless like that (tsch). But along the way, we have all been there when we see products that we think – hmm I would quite like that! So I thought I’d show you my coveted products here 🙂

NARS ‘One Shocking Moment Cheek Palette’ – $69.00

BE STILL MY BEATING HEART – omfg this looks so good. I want this so bad! This would be the most versatile contour, highlight and blush palette AND it would have a massive mirror. What more do you need?

Kat Von D Ink Liner Trio – $25.00

A trio of amazing eye liners, you have a choice of brown, purple AND black! I’m just linking to this as ALL images I searched for are rubbish.

Deborah Lippman ‘Roses In The Snow Duo’ – $15.00

This nail polish set looks so lovely. The blushed rose colour looks like it would be very flattering and the glitter looks insane!

IN THE SALE!! Colourful Sequin Glitter – Sephora – $5

For a sale item, this looks great for the festive season and if you were to pack this onto the eyelid then it would be a perfect dramatic eyeshadow to turn heads (and eyes). 🙂

I hope you’ve enjoyed looking at the things I’ve loved drooling over at Sephora!

Have a lovely weekend everyone 🙂

The Non Sickly Pastel Look

The gorgeous weather has hit again and we are definitely moving towards summer territory now. High streets are filled with pale pinks, yellows and lilacs, all in time for the sunshine! I’ve never really been a massive fan of pastels, preferring the moody maroons and mauves of winter.

I used to dislike it even more on nails, but I’ve had a bit of a U-turn (makes me think of Usher) and there are now more pastels that are more subtle rather than in your face light. Barry M brought out a great range of ‘Quick Dry’ polishes that have lovely pastels in them (I reviewed one of them here) and they have a wide selection of shades in their complete range.

Today I have a pastel lilac nail look for you, with a strawberry pastel pink accent nail. I loved this look as soon as I slicked the last swipe of Seche Vite over the top, which surprised me as I thought even these might be too light for me in the bottle.

I’ve used Barry M’s ‘Strawberry Ice Cream’ and Essie’s ‘Lilacism’, both of which are from the drugstore and in my opinion perform just as well if not better than some higher end nail polishes like Nails Inc and Ciaté. At just £2.99 for the Barry M and £7.99 for the Essie polish, they are pretty reasonably priced…(by the way the polishes are much brighter in colour than in the pictures on the links).

What I love in particular about this look is how GLASSY the polishes look. I have always thought that Essie polishes have has a gorgeous sheen to them, but this Barry M ‘Strawberry Ice Cream’ nail paint is just as good when it comes to the finish. I really like the combination of the two colours. To me, this is perfect for girls who are like me and don’t want to end up with a sickly sweet manicure.

What do you guys think of this look? What are your favourite pastel polishes?

The Perfect Summer Polishes

Hello Everyone!

I hope you are having a lovely Saturday morning eating a crummy breakfast or enjoying a lazy lie in :). I have a few nail polishes to show you that are perfect for wearing in the hazy spring sunshine that we have been lucky enough to have in the UK. It doesn’t necessarily have to be pastel colours that you opt for in Spring/Summer, so I’ve grabbed a mix of brights and pales to show you that are my personal favourites.

I think the two Essie shades are my favourite from this pentagonal array. The formulae (?) for them is beautiful, a practical wide brush deposits just the right amount of glass like polish onto your nail and it’s so easily buildable (how is that not a word spell checker).

Here I’ll show you what each looks like on!

ESSIE ARUBA BLUE (with Ciaté Celestial glitter coat over the top):

What are your favourite spring/summer time polishes?

Happy Saturday everyone!

Ridiculous Beauty Products – Are they worth the hype?!

Happy Friday All!

I am a massive fan of youtube make up tutorials and get ready with me’s, but one day something caught my eye and I thought ‘What the hell is that?!

I was watching a Chloe Morello video, and after she had applied her eye make up and moved onto lips, she pulled out this monstrosity:

This is not, apparently, a torture device. This IS in fact something called ‘Fullips’.  What this is designed to do, is plump up your lips by using suction to create fuller lips without the use of injections or fillers. This is meant to be used just before you use lip liner or lipstick, in order to give you a larger pout.

Not only does this LOOK terrifying to me, I personally think this is pushing the boundaries a bit too far. I know that the whole Kylie Jenner 72 hour lip workshop is all the rage now but seriously a good lip liner and lipstick should be there to enhance what is naturally suitable for your face. If every woman (or man) out there had massive lips plastered onto their faces surely that would just make everyone look like Barbie dolls (or even worse, BRATZ).

This got me thinking about other ridiculous beauty products, to be honest I don’t think many have actually slipped through the net of Dragon’s Den or patent companies, thank goodness. Though, some that have are below:

Okay this kinda looks quite nice…

This is meant to hold your nail polish bottle at an angle without it falling over.

Basically a sleeve for your feet.

A set square for your eyebrows.

Yes, I know that most of these are from QVC but I just couldn’t help myself.

Can you think of any stupid cosmetic tools that you’ve seen?

My Obsession with New York Night continues…

Ever since I received the Tanya Burr nail varnish ‘New York Night’ for Christmas from my sister, it has been my go to colour when I’m not sure what I want to wear.

It’s a lovely dark, almost black purple colour that is really wearable, looks very sophisticated and lasts for at least a week. I don’t use a base coat with this, the formula is thick enough to go completely opaque from the second coat. Even on it’s own it dries with a real shine, but when you use a top coat over it the colour really comes to life.

I also used a Ciaté glitter polish that has tiny gold strips in, called ‘Sloaney, Sweetie’. This gives a really lovely contrast to the dark polish and creates a strong, bold look.

This is my favourite Tanya Burr nail polish out of her range, I tried a grey toned version but I thought it fell a bit flat. The Ciaté polish is really pretty, but it gets a bit claggy and hard to spread after a while…I think mine needed a good shake!!

Have you tried any shades from the Tanya Burr nail polish range?

Thanks for reading 🙂 and Happy Friday!

Barry M ‘Watermelon’ and what might be my favourite polish of all time

I have a quick little post for you today on a weird colour for nail polish: GREEN. Not a huge fan of the acid, lime or foliage types, I tend to swerve more towards the turquoise, emerald and teal types when it comes to beauty and nails.

The polishes I have used today are a deep dark green, with the glitter being more of a navy teal kind of colour. It’s that same 17 polish I’ve spoken about before that I thought they had discontinued, I’ve just had a look on the Boots website though and it looks like they have it! REJOICE. I’m getting to the last few drops of mine, even tried to pour a bit of nail polish remover in it to spark it up again but ALAS, it didn’t help :(.

Barry M Gelly in 'Watermelon' and 17 'Navy Glint'
Barry M Gelly in ‘Watermelon’ and 17 ‘Navy Glint’

This look uses ‘Watermelon’ all over and then ‘Navy Glint’ as an accent. I can’t stress how much I love this colour, I think its the perfect everyday glitter that looks really chic and understated. It also comes off with remover like a dream!

I already love the Barry M Gelly polishes, they are some of the best that I have tried. The finish is always great and the opacity is brilliant once you get to your second coat at least. I find that the darkest colours come up the best in this range, as they really pick up the shine.

What do you think of this look?

More importantly, what is your favourite polish in the world? Think of if your collection got stolen (god forbid) what is the shade you’d pine for the most?!

Barry M Speedy Quick Dry Nail Polish – ‘Kiss Me Quick’

A few days ago I posted my Boots Mini Haul #3 where I picked up this Barry M pastel pink ‘Quick Dry’ shade (Kiss Me Quick). Generally I’m not too keen on having light colours on my nails and I opt for more dark, purpley burgundy shades. As it is moving more towards spring I’m just going for colours that I like in the bottle, turns out that I actually quite like the way this looks!

I described it to someone at work as ‘a bit Nicki Minaj’ on me, as my skin is brown and bright/pastel colours can look very striking. I guess the main selling point about this nail polish is the ‘quick dry’, for me that isn’t really something I need because I religiously use Seche Vite on top of any nail polish I use.

On first application, this nail polish is the exact opposite of what you want. It’s streaky, thin and blotchy. Then, if you wait for a few seconds for that to dry a little and apply the second coat and it takes on a brilliantly shiny and opaque finish. I found that a third coat was plenty for it to look pastel-ly and very professional!

Obviously the thing you guys all want to know about is if it is, in fact, QUICK DRYING. Well, I have to say I am actually really impressed. It does dry much quicker than usual polishes, but because you have to layer the coats it is still vulnerable to smudging as most polishes are. I think for me, the colour is the most attractive thing about it and the fact that it dries a bit quicker than normal polishes less of a selling point.

OH MY GOODNESS because I took the images for this post the other day I forgot about the thing that made me have a grump. Right, you see the black checkered lid? Well, don’t open the nail polish if you have warm hands. That colour will transfer onto your skin, and this really frustrated me because the polish itself is great, to have such poor cheap packaging disappointed me.

Look at the damage below:

What do you guys think? Have you tried any of these polishes?

Boots! – Mini Haul #3

Wow, I can’t believe I have only gone up to #3 of my Mini Haul posts on this blog. I think what happens is that I buy a few things and get too excited to use them…so I forget to Mini Haul them :(.

I popped to Boots to pick up a new Soap & Glory Brow Archery as mine had run out and I got accidentally on purpose side tracked by a few beautiful things as I made my way through the aisles. I’m going to give you a brief tour through the carrier baggy bliss that is my most recent Boots haul 🙂 enjoy!

You can see that even though I repurchased that Soap & Glory Brow Archery, I actually forgot to include it in this haul as my brain must have deemed it a boring part of the haul (oops).

The first things I picked up were some false eyelashes, which were on special offer 3 for 2. Usually I go for the really natural lashes as I have quite naturally long eyelashes anyway. This time I thought I’d branch out and get the ‘Banging Beauty’ (what an atrocious name), ‘Lightweight Eyelure No 101’ and the ‘Feline Fierce’ (marginally better name) from the Katy Perry Range.

I’m looking forward to trying these out to see how extreme they look!

The next thing I picked up is probably my favourite, it was a Barry M ‘Bold Blue’ Waterproof Eyeliner, which is simply the most BEAUTIFUL colour it makes my heart squeeze. I tried it out and fell in love with it instantly, I have included a picture for you to see as well.

Ahhhh it’s so pretty!

There is a really lovely metallic shimmer to this shade and although the pencil is quite dark to look at when you apply it to your waterline it actually comes off a lot lighter. The formula is great as it is really soft and it can stand me rubbing my eyes (which I tend to do quite a lot) and it didn’t budge!

The next thing that I spotted was a Barry M nail polish in a lovely marshmallowy, soft baby pink colour, but it also said ‘Quick Dry’ on the bottle. I was intrigued, as I usually don’t worry about nail polish drying times as I have my trusty Seche Vite to fall back on. I thought this was worth a shot, so I’ll update you in due course. I do love the colour and think this will look great as it nears springtime. The shade is called ‘Kiss Me Quick’, had I gone shopping last week it could have been in a Valentines haul!

The next item I picked was the influence of a lovely blogger and Youtuber called Kaushul (Kaushul Beauty). She uses a really affordable Natural Collections eyeshadow in ‘Crushed Walnut’ as a cheekbone contour, so I thought I would give it a go. It’s only £1.99 so it’s definitely more affordable than a fancy bronzer, it is a very cool toned dark brown, so again I will update you once I have tried this out! I don’t like a harsh contour and to be honest I’m not very good at it so we’ll see how I get on…

The last thing I picked up was the new Colour Band eyeshadow sticks by Bourjois. I heard about these after watching a Lily Pebbles Youtube video, where she had picked up the dark brown and pinky beige colour. I was tempted to buy the brown but already have similar eyeshadow sticks so I picked up the jet black instead. This apparently is a two in one eyeliner and eyeshadow stick, so I’ve got high hopes for this. This has no shimmer in it, it is a simply VERY BLACK soft shadow stick, that looks really great to be blended in. I might do a little tutorial or post on this if you guys would be interested? 🙂

OK so I have just realised how long this post is…oops!

I hope you enjoyed reading 🙂 have you tried any of these products?
