Milani Lady Rouge Blush – My First Milani Product!

Hi Guys!

I’ve heard alot about Milani cosmetics via numerous Youtube videos where UK bloggers/vloggers have been in America and picked up some Milani cosmetics from american drugstores. I always thought Milani was like the Collection brand in the UK, but the American version.

Then I saw that you could get Milani at Beauty Bay and I thought it was the perfect time to try something from their range.

I chose one of their blushes because of the amazing rose petal design imprinted in the pan!

The Brightest Blush That Ever Did Live

I have a product to review for you today that is very versatile – some people will look at this and think it screams summer and playful days, some people will think this will give you a winter pinched flush. I happen to sit on the latter side of the fence. The product I am reviewing for you today is the MimiDidi Mineral Blush in the number 11.

Mimididi

I don’t blame you if you take one look at this blush and want to run away from it, holding your hands up to your face in fear. This is one of those products where a light hand isn’t just desired – it’s needed. Saying that though, I really love this blush as it is perfect for making it look like you’ve just been out for a brisk winter walk (wrapped up in a warm coat and a fluffy scarf).

I would recommend using a very soft, sparse blusher brush for this. Also, making sure once you have lightly dabbed your brush into it I would tap the excess off. This will make sure you can start off with less on your brush and slowly build up the colour if you want to.

What I especially like about this is that it is affordable and completely MATTE. Too many blushes nowadays are packed with shimmer and I think it can be too much sometimes. Especially if you want to use a highlighter across your cheekbones!

blush

One other thing that will stop you looking like a clown is to use a white or cream bristle blusher brush – if you use one with black bristles it means you might not know how much product is on your brush in the first place.

I really like the packaging of this product too – don’t get me wrong, it is plastic but it is sturdy enough to travel and the chunky compact is quite nice to hold. Also – this would make a great Christmas present!

I have a 10% off code for anyone who is interested in browsing Born Pretty Store who kindly gifted me this product – the code is

The Wet Look Gloss – That’s not sticky!

Hello everyone!

Today I have a mini review for you, for the other lip product that I bought on #NationalLipstickDay…it’s this gorgeous Dior Lip Maximiser…just take a look at that packaging!

It’s the most girly of lip glosses I ever did see, but luckily it is worth it as this gloss is AMAZING. It is designed to help plump out your lips, advertised as a ‘lip care’ system that uses hyaluronic and marine-based fillers. ‘MARINE BASED FILLERS’ – I have no idea what these are but I am intrigued. Hope there’s no sea horses or anything in there.

lipmaximizer

It is recommended that you can either use this over your favourite lipstick, OR as a 15 minute intensive treatment before bed time. This claims to help fill out the lines in your lips, to make them look smoother, plumper and more hydrated.

This gloss is very sheer and has quite a balmy consistency. The finish of this gloss is VERY wet look, but this helps to make your lips look fuller (it also has tiny shimmer particles in it which assist in the reflective magic!).

The SMELL of this is so nice, it smells like a mix of mint and vanilla. The mint helps with the cool sensation that you get on the lips when you apply the gloss, it feels really tingly and…kinda nice actually! This makes them actually FEEL bigger, which probably makes you pout a bit automatically lol.

dior

This is now a staple in my hand bag. I don’t use it every day but you never know when you want a good ol’ gloss to slick over the top of your favourite nude lipstick!

Have any of you guys tried the lip maximiser or the Dior Addict Lip Glow? 🙂

MAC’s Patisserie – The Best Nude Ever?

**read to the end of this post for a surprise announcement!**

So, a while ago, #NationalLipstickDay happened and Debenhams took full advantage by offering a £5 off 2 lip products promotion.

I umm’d and ahh’d about which two I wanted, I knew for a fact I wanted another MAC lipstick but which one was the problem?!?! I did a bit of research (which involved going through each shade and google image searching it) and landed on ‘Patisserie’. At first I was unsure about it, I thought it might be too light for me. I rave about the shade ‘Hug Me’ (it’s a lustre) but that is a slightly more brown-y version of ‘Patisserie’.

*btw I have bits of glitter on my face because I was doing something make-y :p. In this picture I have a gloss over the top of ‘Patisserie’*

patisserie 2

Having tried this without a lip liner, I have to say I’m actually really impressed! I’ve been reaching for this lipstick pretty much every day now! It’s the most perfect combination of a peachy pinky nude with a touch of golden shimmer. This doesn’t wear off patchily, it’s a lustre so it’s not too opaque in the first place. Another great thing with that is you don’t need to be too precise, it is one of those lip products that you can literally grab on the way out the door and apply without a mirror!

patisserie

This is quite a creamy formula and although it is MAC it’s not drying at all. This lipstick now has a little home in one compartment of my hand bag and I am very glad this is the case :).

What are your favourite MAC lipsticks?

Fashion Mini Haul :D

So, I went shopping.

Luckily I managed to restrain myself and I didn’t go mad, but I was really pleased with what I bought. There is a definite theme to this mini haul, and that is SPRING. I had a browse around in River Island but there I had one of those days where I just didn’t see anything that I liked.

This soon changed as I strolled around Dorothy Perkins, Accessorise and Miss Selfridge!

What I love about spring is that all the bright, more sunny colours slowly make their way into our wardrobes and on a sunny day there’s nothing better than wearing bright coral, or a pastel hue.

Here are my springtime purchases:

I have no idea how I managed to fold the t shirts and jumpers like they do in the shop, I think it was a bit of a fluke.

This jumper is the softest thing I have ever worn! It’s so beautiful and comfy, with the lace white heart details it’s pretty and perfect for spring. It is a touch on the warm side I think but we all know what Britain is like. This will be perfect for days where it’s chilly but sunny :). I bought this from Dorothy Perkins in the sale, was £26 I got it for £15.

jumper

Also from Dorothy Perkins I bought this long sleeveless coral pink shirt. I can’t actually remember how much this was 🙁 but it wasn’t very expensive, and would look perfect with leggings and sunglasses (worn on my eyes not on my legs). Also, this would be a great shirt to tuck into an A line skirt for hotter days.

I also bought a pair of lighter style jeans/jeggings (what a horrid word jeggings is, it sounds like a QVC product). I was initially worried these wouldn’t be very flattering. Thing is, they could be but even if they are I like them. So I’mma wear em. They were £20, so not too pricey.

jeans

This T shirt I am IN LOVE with. The writing is like little beads, and it is so comfortable. I don’t usually like T shirts or tops with writing on because they remind me of those awful shirts that would say things like ‘Little Miss Perfect’ – BLEUREFHEGHGH.

This top is just so wearable, and very flattering on. I think this was only around £12, which isn’t too bad as it’s really good quality (from Miss Selfridge).

monami

Lastly, from Accessorize I bought the most amazing ear cuff that isn’t an ear cuff. It is like a normal earring, and then at the top it has a little clip that clips comfortably round the top of your ear. I really loved the star design as it reminds me of these little star earrings my big sister used to wear when she was a teenager. This was £12 I believe, and worth every penny. I think I’ll be wearing this a lot this summer!

Who knew Sellotape was so useful?! Easy Striped Nail Look

Originally took a picture with May in the background and thought 'Well that looks wrong'
Originally took a picture with May in the background and thought ‘Well that looks wrong’

Here is a really simple nail look, which seems like it would take ages to do but is actually quicker than you think!

For this to work in the best way, I would recommend painting your main colour the day before, and then applying the glitter the next day to ensure that your first colour has COMPLETELY dried.

For the base colour, I used Tanya Burr’s New York Night which is a really dark, deep purple which comes off almost black on the nail. I let this dry for about a minute, then I applied a thin layer of Seche Vite and left it to dry.

The next day, I fancied updating this look with something a bit more striking, but still subtle at the same time. Browsing through my nail polish collection, I rediscovered my Models Own glitter polish in Disco Mix and thought that this would go perfectly with New York Night.

I used Sellotape to make the clean lines for the glitter polish. I literally cut a chunk of sellotape and applied it diagonally across the nail, and then one the other side leaving a thin strip of nail still open. I did this to a couple of nails at a time, then gently applied the glitter polish over the top, letting it dry while I applied the tape to the other nails.

As long as you have a smidge of patience and a slight steady hand, then this should be easy enough to do.

Once you have applied the glitter polish to all nails, you can peel the tape off. I would peel the tape off starting from the base of the nail, as this is less likely to pull the polish onto the rest of the nail.

Then, once dry to the touch, apply a top coat…I just applied a thin second layer of Seche Vite 🙂

Tanya Burr Lip Gloss Review – Aurora

I have followed Tanya on Youtube for about a year now, and I was so pleased for her when she revealed she had a Lips and Nails range coming out. I was a bit late to the party, but I popped into my local Superdrug to pick out a shade of her new lip gloss range to try out.

I went for the shade ‘Aurora’, and I must admit part of me was convinced this was the right one for me because of the name (hmm makes sense…no?) The name ‘Aurora’ makes me think of the film Sleeping Beauty, and when I saw the colour it made perfect sense for it to be named so.

The gloss itself has a slight shimmer, but is packed full with pigment. I wasn’t expecting the colour to be so strong, but actually it’s one of the best things about it.

‘Aurora’ – Tanya Burr Lip Gloss

The consistency is quite thick, and the doe foot applicator means it is really easy to apply. As I said, this lip gloss really goes on the colour it is in the tube.

I wear this to work regularly, and the great thing is it wears off slowly and evenly. Some lip glosses start to disappear at the centre of your pout, but this really has great staying power due to the impressive pigment. After about 8 hours, you can still see a pretty pink tint on the lips, but it doesn’t leave them dry or chapped.

So glad this didn’t fall over…

You can tell that Tanya has had heavy involvement in the formula and colours, because they really are great quality glosses. 🙂 Thumbs up from me!
