NARS Orgasm Blush – With Swatches!

If there’s one product that’s been on my wishlist for a very long time, it’s this one. The NARS Orgasm blusher is a cult classic and I had always wanted to try it.

I’d say this NARS blush isn’t really for those who are shy with make up – this looks so pretty on but it’s quite an intense flush of colour (as the name would suggest!). This would look great with a full on make up look and it is so pigmented a little goes a long way.

I picked my limited edition blush up at Feel Unique and it came in a beautiful NARS box with a pretty summery overlay – you know that this is special and no wonder so many beauty followers love it!

My Beauty Wishlist for June!

Every now and then my mind wanders and my bank account shivers with fear, because it knows that there are things floating round in my brain that I want to buy.

One way of quenching this odd materialistic thirst in the blogging world is to create a wishlist! 🙂

It makes you realise how much you would be spending if you did buy those things, it helps you do that thing where you think ‘do I actually need this’ but also it is there in case you want to buy something from it later and you can’t remember what it was called :’).

June Wishlist

So, for the month of June here are the things in my wishlist!

  1. The Body Shop Shade Adjusting Drops, £10 –

These drops look great, they are available in a light and dark shade so if I was to buy one I’d go for the darker one. You can use these to help change the shade of your foundation, but the most intriguing way I would want to try this is to use it to contour. I’ve seen it being used and it’s quite a thin consistency so it would blend really well.

2. Huda Beauty Lashes in the style ‘Samantha’, $20 or around £13 –

These lashes have been on my radar for a long time, but they are so damn expensive. So many people I follow on Instagram use these and they look insane when on, also they are meant to be reusable over and over again!

3. NARS Orgasm Blush, £23 –

In typically seductive fashion, NARS have nailed a ‘shade for all’ peachy shimmery blush called ‘Orgasm’. This is one of those cult shades that looks amazing in the pan and you just know it will be perfect for all skin tones!

4. Certifeye Eye Glitter, Any, £5 for a mini bottle!

Again, this item crept it’s way onto my wishlist via Instagram and these little bottles of cosmetic glitter are literally the best things I’ve ever seen. You would need an adhesive with these rather than just using a setting spray or something, but they look so good! I didn’t realise you could get mini bottles, I bet that’s all you’d really need!

Also, these guys do faux mink lashes too!

5. Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer, £17.50 –

I almost bought this concealer a few months ago after I bought my Estée Lauder Doublewear foundation, but then I changed my mind! This concealer is meant to be so creamy, medium coverage with a handy doe foot applicator so all in all it seems to be a pretty good bet concealer wise. I’d love to know if it’s worth the price, you can get so many good budget concealers nowadays, like the Collection Lasting Perfection one but I’m still curious about the UD one!

So in total this wishlist with only 5 items this time totals…

Why I’m Obsessed with Instagram…

If anyone follows me on Instagram, they’ll know that I quite like it. I post a lot and I usually go on it around 2 – 3 times a day. Go through my feed and double tap on anything that takes my fancy, it’s such an EASY way to explore photography and it fits right into our convenient, time limited day to day lifestyles.

It gives you the opportunity to experiment with photography and you don’t even need a big fancy camera in order to do it – I find my iPhone 6s camera is just right.

IMG_7606

One of my favourite things about Instagram is when you come across a great account that shows sped up make up tutorials. Make up feeds are my favourite kind to browse through and I’ve tried my hand at some close up pictures too but am still practising! For those I tend to ignore my front camera and use a mirror so that I can use my back camera instead which is much much better quality.

I like following large brands Instagram accounts because it’s a great way of finding out what their newest products and sale offers are – some of my favourites are Essie, Bombay Hair, Nars, Benefit and Make Up Geek (which I’ve just heard that you can get on Beauty Bay!).

Have you guys got any favourite Instagram accounts you can recommend following? 🙂

A Christmas Beauty Wishlist – Sephora

Oh my, Sephora. What have you done to my eyes. I have been browsing (as you do) on Sephora and I always tend to look and NEVER BUY. I think I have only ever ordered once from Sephora and I can’t even remember what it was that I bought lol.

This Christmas I have started looking for presents for others – you know, I’m selfless like that (tsch). But along the way, we have all been there when we see products that we think – hmm I would quite like that! So I thought I’d show you my coveted products here 🙂

SEPHORA COVETED LIST – GO!

nars

NARS ‘One Shocking Moment Cheek Palette’ – $69.00

BE STILL MY BEATING HEART – omfg this looks so good. I want this so bad! This would be the most versatile contour, highlight and blush palette AND it would have a massive mirror. What more do you need?

Kat Von D Ink Liner Trio – $25.00

A trio of amazing eye liners, you have a choice of brown, purple AND black! I’m just linking to this as ALL images I searched for are rubbish.

Deborah Lippman ‘Roses In The Snow Duo’ – $15.00

This nail polish set looks so lovely. The blushed rose colour looks like it would be very flattering and the glitter looks insane!

IN THE SALE!! Colourful Sequin Glitter – Sephora – $5

sephora

For a sale item, this looks great for the festive season and if you were to pack this onto the eyelid then it would be a perfect dramatic eyeshadow to turn heads (and eyes). 🙂

I hope you’ve enjoyed looking at the things I’ve loved drooling over at Sephora!

Have a lovely weekend everyone 🙂

5 Essential Products for Great Looking Eyeshadow

Make up tutorials are so popular now, with the rise of youtube and blogging there are so many professional looking and glamorous looks available for people to try.

I was thinking about the things that I use when I am doing a tutorial or even just make up on myself and I realised there are a few things that kind of make an essential kit for creating great eyeshadow looks!

I have narrowed this ‘essentials kit’ down to 5 things! (I know, well done me!).

**Look how well co-ordinated they all are**:

5ITEMSFORGOODEYESHADOW

GOING BACK TO BASICS:

USE A PRIMER

Using a primer will give you an blank canvas and an even base to layer your eyeshadows over. I now do this step whenever I am doing an intense or matte eyeshadow look – especially because it helps to even out any veins or unwanted red tones on your eyelids. My favourite to use isn’t actually a ‘primer’ but a paint pot from MAC (aptly named, Painterly). It’s a great, cool toned taupe grey shade (this doesn’t sound that nice but it works really well as a primer!). I’ll put in a close up picture below 🙂

BUY A GOOD CREAM EYESHADOW

For those days where you want a bit of colour or something something on the lids, don’t spend half an hour faffing about with eyeshadow if you don’t want to. Invest in a good long lasting cream eyeshadow (now this doesn’t mean you need to spend a lot!) The one I love the most is the Maybelline 24 Hour Colour Tattoo in ‘On and On Bronze’. Loads of bloggers have raved about this shade and the formula is one of the best that I’ve tried! This doesn’t crease, which is amazing, and it lasts for aaaaages on the lid.

GET A DARK BROWN SHADOW STICK

If you are in a hurry getting ready to go out or go to work but you need to give your make up a lift, get a simple dark brown eyeshadow stick. Using one of these you can smudge it along your upper (and lower if you are going for an evening even) lash line and using a fluffy brush to blend this out a bit. This helps to add a touch of definition and a bit of smokiness, it’s a great way to update your make up and add something different. I love the Laura Mercier Cocoa Caviar Stick :).

GET A GOOD PALETTE WITH MATTE SHADOWS

The Lorac Pro Palette pictured below is my go to palette when I want to create a good day time eyeshadow look, but it’s also got some great eyeshadows for evening. When you get a good palette with great quality matte eyeshadows it means you have a myriad (a lot) of eyeshadow looks waiting to be created. This palette has a brilliant pigmented black shade which can be pressed into the crease for an intense smokey eye, or you can use an angled liner brush to push it into the lower lash line.

INVEST IN YOUR PERFECT TRANSITION COLOUR

Before starting on a layered eyeshadow look, or a smokey eye, I’d definitely recommend using a transition colour. This doesn’t have to be the exact same colour as the eyeshadows you are using but it is a great base layer for the colour going in your crease. I’ll let you in on a little secret…

narslaguna

Bronzers are perfect transition colours! If they are good enough for contour, they are good enough to use in the crease for a transition colour. The one I love using is NARS Laguna bronzer, which is mostly matte but has a touch of shimmer. It’s a great warm brown, which helps other eyeshadows blend into it with a nice gradient. Either I’ll use Laguna OR I’ll reach for the Taupe shade in the Lorac Pro Palette!

I hope you have enjoyed reading about my tips for getting the best eyeshadow look you can. Please feel free to leave me a comment, or click through to my Blog Lovin’ and follow me there :).

Thank you for reading and have a great week ahead!

MAC + Lorac Pro Palette Make Up Look

Hello Everyone!

Today I have a FOTD (shh the F stands for ‘Face’) for you with a little run down of what I used in order to create this eyeshadow look below. This mainly uses a MAC make up palette that was probably limited edition (sorry) and the Lorac Pro Palette which I’ve been loving for the past month or so.

Keep reading if you want to see what I used to get this look! It’s the first one I’ve done of it’s kind and I’m actually really pleased 🙂 (don’t rain on my parade!) 😀

macmakeup3

Here are the products that I used!

macmakeup1
Left Hand side is all Eye products, Right Hand side is for Eyebrows!

macmakeup4

The shades I used from the Lorac Pro Palette, were Taupe, Cream, Nude and Sable.

The shades I used in the MAC mini palette were Brun, Enviable (discontinued I think) and Smut. The textures of the MAC and Lorac Pro Palette are great for blending, which is the key to getting this to have a smokey feel, with a pop of green in the centre (provided by Enviable).

I used Painterly MAC Paint Pot to block out the eyelid with a neutral base, then I blended Taupe as a transition colour. I built up Sable in the crease with some Brun from the MAC palette.

I took Cream as a brow highlight and used Nude as an inner corner colour applied to the first third of the eyelid. Then I packed on Enviable into the centre of the lid. This really needs to be packed on to get the most colour pay off. I blended the crease out and applied liquid liner and mascara to finish!

Lips I kept quite simple and went for a nude, using a nude lip liner to slightly overline the lips and a cool toned silvery taupe gloss dotted in the centre to make lips appear fuller.

Recent Beauty Revelations

Hello Everyone!

It’s almost Easter and that means a nice long weekend 🙂 I’m thinking some bacon sandwiches would be nice to wake up to on Good Friday morning (food is always on my mind). I was doing my make up the other morning and discovered several stark beauty revelations in one go. I thought you fellow make up mavens would be interested and intrigued to find out what they are!

In the words of Kenan and Kel ‘Awwwh here’it goes!’:

1. The smell of a new mascara

Oh good god, it gets to a point where you may either have had the same mascara on the go for a few month OR several on the go for a while. Now, the moment when you get a NEW mascara is just blissful. The lovely perfumed smell, the sound as the brush pops out of the tube and the near  perfect application with a fresh formula. Ahh, to hell with mascara monogamy.

whenever-i-try-a-new-mascara_o_788658-2

2. Cream blushers will last you forever

I have been using my Max Factor Cream Blush for a few months already and it has only just started to see a slight dip in the little pot. This stuff will seriously last a long time, as it is so pigmented so you need very very little. I love the sheer, natural finish that it gives. It just means that when you are 80, you will have the same cream blush to impress the old biddies at bingo.

3. Hold your eyelash curler right

Now I have the Shu Uemura eyelash curlers that are one of the best you can get, they have serious curling power and I’m really not used to it. This is why, you must must hold the eyelash curlers straight on. If you tilt them, or have them wonky what will happen is your inner eyelashes will look beautiful and curled, but your outer corner eyelashes will get BENT. As well as this, if you use good eyelash curlers like the ones I have, it is hard to unbend the bend you have created. #firstworldbeautyproblems

4.The danger of using a long handled make up brush and a hand held compact

When I say compact I mean POWDER compact. I’m sure that at least one of you readers (of the three readers I get) has had this problem before. For example if you are blending your eyeshadow out holding a compact mirror, you may get that eye popping moment of panic when the pointy end of your brush gouges out a chunk of your powder because you are holding your brush too close to it. I have had this before with my NARS Laguna bronzer and this was my reaction:

crying_meme21

5. Be careful if you have sensitive skin

My skin has always been quite sensitive. I’ve had to be careful what kinds of shower gels and soaps I’ve used in the past, but one thing I’ve noticed is that recently when applying concealer to my under eyes if I leave it on too long unblended it starts to STING. It may just be the Maybelline FIT Me concealer that I have been using for the past few months, I never used to get it with the Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection concealer. Cut to me desperately grabbing my make up brush to blend it out just to make sure my under eye skin doesn’t get burned off. Ah.

Have you made any make up revelations recently?

Any plans for Easter? Shopping by any chance?!

I hope you all have a LOVELY Easter,

The Concealer Upgrade

For about a year and a half, I have been quite loyal to the Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection concealers because they stay put all day, give medium to high coverage and are completely matte! However, I thought there might be a concealer out there that was less thick, less drying and more highlighting.

I used to use shade 3 and 4 mixed when I concealed dark circles and blemishes. I quite like mixing concealer shades, so I stuck with this with what I’m calling my ‘Concealer Upgrade’:

concealer upgrade - 16th jan1

The shades I bought were 20 (lighter) and 30 (darker). The formula of these is great! I was really pleased when I first tried them. The concealer isn’t too thick which means it’s really blendable, and there is not a hint of sparkle or shimmer which means it is highlighting without being too in your face.

Although the formula is thinner than the Collection 2000, if this concealer is set with powder it lasts all day, and doesn’t crease as much as the Lasting Perfection.

I really like the packaging of these as well, they look ALOT like the NARS Creamy Concealers, but at a fraction of the price.

IMG_2358

IMG_2359

The darker shade looks quite daunting to use, but blended with the lighter shade, it is just right for my skin tone.

Another perk of this upgrade is that I don’t get black ink from the packaging all over my hands like I used to with the Collection 2000 concealers!

Have any of you guys used the Maybelline Fit Me concealers? What are your favourites?

Thanks for reading 🙂

The Burgundy Lip

Hello ‘Pressers!

One key trend that is ALL OVER the beauty scene this winter is the dark red lip, or burgundy lip. Usually more of a nudey – pinky lip person, this is quite bold but looks great as part of a winter make up look.

I know that brands like Nars, Mac and Charlotte Tilbury really rule the roost when it comes to matte style bold lips, but I have also heard great things about the Rimmel bold lipsticks. I thought I’d give Rimmel a go, and also try a lip liner of a similar colour to really do it properly.

The shade I chose is ‘Starry Eyed’ in the Lasting Finish range, matching this with the 1000 Kisses  ‘Black Tulip’ lip liner:

IMG_1720
I think the key things to remember with wearing a bold lip are:

  • Keep the rest of your make up toned down (I tend to leave blusher and just use bronzer to make sure it’s not too full on)
  • Moisturise your lips to make sure the colour lasts the longest
  • Make sure your lip liner is sharpened!
  • Slowly build up the colour rather than apply thickly

IMG_1722

IMG_1716

The lip liner is great, (smells just like Crayola though which I’m not too sure about) and really helps you when you apply the actual lip colour.

The lip stick itself is a good texture, not too matte but is really pigmented. Be careful when you first apply it though or you could end up looking like Ronald McDonald. Not a good look.

At a measly £2.99 for the lip liner, and only £4.99 for the lipstick itself, it is MUCH better value than some of the higher end brands, so affordable AND looks great for a Christmas night out :).
