OGX Biotin & Collagen Haircare – My god this smells insanely good…

biotin and collagen ogx

OGX is a brand that I have always loved – whenever I go into Boots I always sneakily wander past the haircare aisle to see if there are any offers on the brand because that’s when I love to pick up supplies and try out new ranges :).

I have been using these OGX Thick & Full Biotin and Collagen products for a few weeks now and I have to say I’m really blown away by the quality and the amazing scent that these products have. Since chopping my hair last year into a short bob I have been really trying to take care of my hair and use products that will promote hair growth and health.

The first products I tried were the shampoo and conditioner – I LOVE LOVE LOVE the packaging of this range. The deep purple and fancy gold colours really scream amazing quality and nourishing ingredients. The colours also make me think of a far eastern country and the scent of this range is so heady and musky and delicious. If you imagine like a really beautiful smelling eastern market with perfumes and incense and all amazing smells – that is how I would describe the scent of this range and you can definitely smell it on your hair after using it.

(how many times do I want to use the word and)

By the way, the reason the note in the picture above mentions Red Bull is because I had originally reviewed the Niacin & Caffeine range and was convinced that it smelled like Red Bull :’)

The Amplifying Lotion from this range is probably my most favourite product. I used this approximately 10 minutes ago, applying it to damp towel dried hair and running it through the ends. It’s kind of gel like and it smells just as I described – I wish they would launch this as a perfume! It really reminds me of this scent The Body Shop used to sell called ‘Tobacco Flower’ (this is taking me back lol).

OGX Biotin and Collagen - smells so good!

The oil is probably the product I’ve used the least but because this range has such an amazing smell I can’t wait to use it more – I seriously cannot rave about this range enough lol. I’m a preacher!

What is your favourite OGX range?! (It’s ok if you want to say ‘them all’ because I’d back you up big time)

Thank you for reading guys 🙂

The Winter Beauty Routine Edit

Hi Everyone!

In the past two weeks in the UK it’s definitely felt a lot colder. This is the sign of winter edging it’s way nearer to us, which means soon the evenings will start to get darker and all of a sudden you’ll be craving things like soup and hot chocolate.

When we start to move into Autumn/Winter there are a few things that I do to change my skincare and beauty routine around, which I like to call the Winter Beauty Routine Edit.

WINTERBLOG

I’ve included TEN things you can do to shift your beauty routine into 5th gear and keep your skin and make up looking and feeling great even when it’s cold and dark and gloomy!

    1. Layer your moisturisers – using more than one moisturiser or moisturising method can boost your skincare massively. I am currently liking layering a Vitamin E moisturising face mist with the Clinique Moisture Surge!
    2. Carry around at least 4 lip balmslip balms are your friend as it moves towards winter – the harsh cold winds and increased use of heating can lead to dehydration leaving your mouth prone to cracking and dryness – EW.
    3. End your shower with a burst of colder water on your hair – ending your shower with a luke warm to cold burst of water helps to flatten your follicles which makes your hair shinier. It can also help to reduce frizz!
    4. Shower in the eveningthis is more of a personal tip – basically if you hate getting up early, and hate the fact in winter it’s really dark when you get up, shower in the evening so you get optimum sleeping time!
    5. Baths and bath bombsThis is where you add the luxury to your bath and skincare routine. Indulge in some splurging at Lush and order some bath bombs to treat your skin to a soak!
    6. Once a week, use a body scrubAlthough less people are seeing parts of your body, it doesn’t mean you have to forget about it! Use a good body scrub like the Soap & Glory Breakfast Scrub to keep your skin smooth and to buff away any dead skin cells – AGAIN, EW.
    7. Use a good foot cream – I don’t really wanna have to explain this one but it’s similar to the point above and, oh TRIPLE EW.
    8. Have a make up clear out – Take this as your chance to get rid of any manky old mascaras, any bacteria laden powders or dusty old lipsticks and clear them out! Use this time to refresh your make up collection for winter, remembering you want moisturising products – and you can experiment with plummier moodier colours if you are brave enough!
    9. Invest in a good liquid eyeliner – The windier, rainier and more torrential the weather gets, the more your make up is vulnerable to attack on a daily basis. Investing in a good LONG LASTING liquid eyeliner will stop you looking like a panda!
    10. Morrocanoil – This stuff is a god send! Smoothing a small amount of this through the ends of your hair is great for keeping hair in good condition during winter. My favourite way to use this is to warm a few drops in the palms of my hands for a few minutes and then hold the ends of my hair in my palm – the warmer the oil the better it will take to your hair (not like 100 degrees or anything!)

I hope you have found this useful to read as winter begins to knock at the seasonal front door like an unwelcome carol singer.

Beauty Retailers that get it right…

Working in marketing, we are often trying to think of ways we can get and maintain loyal customer bases. Delivering above and beyond customer care is something most companies try to achieve, the ‘Amazon’ way of operating.

When it comes to beauty brands, for me there are a few drug store and premium beauty retailers that really hit the nail on the head in terms of providing a more tailored shopping experience.

Here are my top 3 Beauty Retailers, and why I think they are treating customers right:

1. Boots –

For a drugstore that sells a myriad of products, Boots Advantage card system is just brilliant. In particular, the offers that they send you are actually useful, and when scanning my emails I tend to open the ones from Boots as they usually send really good deals.

One of the promotions they do that is great for a more tailored customer communication is double Advantage card points during your birthday month (I am turning 25 in January :(). Although to some people this might not seem like a big deal, but providing double points for the whole month means you can really build your money up. I am an advocate of the advantage card system, and I have saved around £70 worth of points over the years!

This kind of promotion is a bit more personal, and keeping things personal whilst maintaining a massive commerce company is getting the best of both worlds.

2. Space.NK –

Again another birthday promotion, but Space.NK have offered a free Sarah Chapman sample, when the full size item costs £40!

Only niggle with this is that to redeem it online, you do have to purchase something else but it makes sense because of the delivery…I’ll just have to take a sneaky birthday trip to London at some point!

3. Feel Unique –

In the beauty industry, getting customers to repurchase from the same company is a big win, and for me Feel Unique have adopted some really useful tactics to make this reality.

I purchased some Morrocanoil a while ago, and whilst scanning my promotional emails in my inbox I came across one entitled ‘Is Your Favourite Morrocanoil Running Low?’

Snip20150104_5

The fact it contained a product I had previously bought in the subject line made me open it, and basically it has based the sending of the email assuming that it is time for you to repurchase the item you originally bought, because you have started to use it up.

This is a very simple idea, but I think this is a great tactic, and it would be ideal for a product like Seche Vite, which I use regularly and actually need to repurchase now!

What are your favourite beauty retailers?
