OGX Niacin3 & Caffeine Shampoo and Conditioner

I had been wanting to try the OGX Niacin & Caffeine shampoo and conditioner ever since a picture of them popped up on my Instagram feed. I’m all up for anything hair related that stops breakage and encourages growth!

This is why I tried the range from OGX, but also why I started using the Lee Stafford Hair Treatment ‘For Hair that never grows past a Certain Length’. Though, I’m an eejit and forgot that it’s probably a good idea to use these two things separately to see which has a better result on my hair :/.

Anyway, I have been using the OGX Niacin & Caffeine shampoo and conditioner for about a week now and have been impressed with it so far! They were on promotion in Boots on a 2 for £10, but they have also been on promotion on a 3 for 2 as well! OGX do a third step product in this range which is a Root Stimulator Spray (I haven’t tried this yet).

ogx niacin and caffeine

I quite like OGX as a brand, I loved their Coconut Milk shampoo and conditioner range for the scent alone – but this is something new that really does claim to improve the condition of your hair.

The first thing I noticed when I started using it is the scent of this shampoo and conditioner. I did a Boots Haul Youtube video recently and I sniffed these in it and was amazed to find that they smelled like Red Bull. Like, wtf. I know these have ‘caffeine’ in but I never expected the range to smell like an energy drink, especially when their other ranges smell so good!

(BTW I hate Red Bull but am willing to set my olfactory differences aside for the benefit of my mop…for those of you who haven’t read the book Perfume that word means NOSE).

Smells aside, the shampoo is lovely – it’s quite a thick shampoo so this means a little goes a long way and you should be concentrating on your roots anyway. Apparently I have heard you shouldn’t actually need to shampoo the ends of your hair as the suds from your roots should run down and wash the ends of your hair anyway! If you shampoo your hair in a way where you aren’t knotting it up it also helps reduce breakage etc when you are brushing your hair after a shower.

The conditioner, again, is a very thick consistency and still has a hint of Red Bull about it. If this smell doesn’t incite memories of being hung over or being in Oceana (I’m looking at you, Vodbull Uni times) then you are well on your way to being a loyal user of this range.

The range feels very nourishing to use but in more of a scientific way. Stimulating the roots of your hair will definitely help with hair health and growth but I do think that my hair is in a better condition for using this range. I also love the Lee Stafford hair treatment being back in my life – it improves the condition of my hair SO MUCH and it has definitely helped the growth!

Here is my previous post earlier last year which shows you the before and after when I had my hair cut really short. I started using the Lee Stafford treatment and it had a really good effect on the growth of my hair!

Have you used this OGX range? Do YOU think it smells like Red Bull? Or is something wrong with me…

Thanks for reading, am about to go use this now 🙂

What to do when you’re in a Blogging Rut…

in a blogging rut 1

Quite honestly, my advice to you would be don’t blog. As in, don’t post – whatever you write will more than likely not be your best and you will not be happy with it (especially if you are as much of a fuss pot as me). Ironically, I am in one now (which you will think is weird as I am writing a post.) I wanted to share the way I deal with blogging ruts…

When you get stuck in a blogging rut, I really think the best thing is to embrace it and have a bit of a break! It doesn’t mean that you give up blogging, just make sure that you prepare posts when you feel like doing it and you’re passionate about something 🙂

Usually, you will have the time you need away from your keyboard and then all of a sudden you’ll see something or think of an amazing idea and eventually storm your way towards your laptop to write something.

When you have a blog, there can be a lot of pressure to put up consistent content, but remember that if your content itself isn’t consistently up to your own standards then your readers will more than likely notice.

So I suggest you relax and read up on my tips of what to do when you ARE in that blogging rut…..

(These things are useful for relaxing AND for blogging ruts)

  • Read a magazine –

Whatever you blog about, it’ll be something that you were interested in BEFORE you started blogging. Try and remind yourself of how much you loved it before you started blogging about it – read a fashion, beauty, craft or lifestyle magazine and just sit with a hot chocolate and unwind :). Relaxing means that you will more than likely actually spark something within yourself which will give you some inspo for future blog posts when you’re ready…or not, which is perfectly fine too :).

  • Have a bath –

If you are a beauty blogger like me then having a bath means that you will get to use some lovely products that will really pamper you. A Lush bath bomb, a nice hair mask or a pampering soak will help you unwind and lose any stresses that might have been blocking your blogging know how.

  • Read other people’s blogs and DON’T feel bad about your own –

If you’re like me, reading other people’s blogs would have inspired you to start your own. Get caught up on the posts from your favourite big bloggers and any bloggers you talk to you regularly! I’d take the opportunity to enjoy reading other people’s writing…this will be a good way to enjoy something as a reader rather than a writer 🙂

  • Watch shitloads of Netflix –

Having a break is important to give your brain a bit of a rest. My programme of choice is Pretty Little Liars because I am a season behind so it means I can binge watch it without having to wait for an episode to come out, haha. Getting yourself mentally distracted will at least make you forget about any pressure you are putting on yourself to blog! It’s important to relax if you want to stay creative :).

  • Catch up on your social media –

Catching up on your favourite Instagrammers, Tweeters and Facebookers will remind you what is trending in the blogging arena that you are interested in…sometimes I love going on Instagram to immerse myself in filters, amazing landscapes and awesome make up collections. When you see people linking pictures and posts don’t feel guilt – just remind yourself you are taking a break and that when you are ready you will get right on back to blogging and being bloody awesome!!!

Hope you enjoyed reading…what do you guys do when you are stuck in a blogging rut?

Why I’m Obsessed with Instagram…

If anyone follows me on Instagram, they’ll know that I quite like it. I post a lot and I usually go on it around 2 – 3 times a day. Go through my feed and double tap on anything that takes my fancy, it’s such an EASY way to explore photography and it fits right into our convenient, time limited day to day lifestyles.

It gives you the opportunity to experiment with photography and you don’t even need a big fancy camera in order to do it – I find my iPhone 6s camera is just right.

IMG_7606

One of my favourite things about Instagram is when you come across a great account that shows sped up make up tutorials. Make up feeds are my favourite kind to browse through and I’ve tried my hand at some close up pictures too but am still practising! For those I tend to ignore my front camera and use a mirror so that I can use my back camera instead which is much much better quality.

I like following large brands Instagram accounts because it’s a great way of finding out what their newest products and sale offers are – some of my favourites are Essie, Bombay Hair, Nars, Benefit and Make Up Geek (which I’ve just heard that you can get on Beauty Bay!).

Have you guys got any favourite Instagram accounts you can recommend following? 🙂

The Brightest Blush That Ever Did Live

I have a product to review for you today that is very versatile – some people will look at this and think it screams summer and playful days, some people will think this will give you a winter pinched flush. I happen to sit on the latter side of the fence. The product I am reviewing for you today is the MimiDidi Mineral Blush in the number 11.

Mimididi

I don’t blame you if you take one look at this blush and want to run away from it, holding your hands up to your face in fear. This is one of those products where a light hand isn’t just desired – it’s needed. Saying that though, I really love this blush as it is perfect for making it look like you’ve just been out for a brisk winter walk (wrapped up in a warm coat and a fluffy scarf).

I would recommend using a very soft, sparse blusher brush for this. Also, making sure once you have lightly dabbed your brush into it I would tap the excess off. This will make sure you can start off with less on your brush and slowly build up the colour if you want to.

What I especially like about this is that it is affordable and completely MATTE. Too many blushes nowadays are packed with shimmer and I think it can be too much sometimes. Especially if you want to use a highlighter across your cheekbones!

blush

One other thing that will stop you looking like a clown is to use a white or cream bristle blusher brush – if you use one with black bristles it means you might not know how much product is on your brush in the first place.

I really like the packaging of this product too – don’t get me wrong, it is plastic but it is sturdy enough to travel and the chunky compact is quite nice to hold. Also – this would make a great Christmas present!

I have a 10% off code for anyone who is interested in browsing Born Pretty Store who kindly gifted me this product – the code is

RO1H10
Happy Shopping everyone!

The Pro’s and Con’s of Henna/Mehndi

Everywhere I look on Instagram, there are pictures of henna designs and patterns – particularly white henna! In Gujarati we call it mehndi, but I think it’s more commonly known as henna. We recently had mehndi done for my sister’s wedding and a wedding is the traditional reason that you get it done!

When brides get mehndi done for a wedding, usually they hide the groom’s initial in amongst the patterns and he has to find it on the wedding night :D. As you will see, there is just a flower in mine! Lol

I’m not entirely sure how the white mehndi and glitter mehndi works but the colour in traditional brown henna temporarily dyes the skin and it gradually fades off your hands/feet/wrists as you continue to wash (if you do wash, that is :)).

Here is a picture of the beautiful mehndi that I had done last week! mehndi

Having mehndi done is great, it looks so pretty and it can be delicate and intricate, however there are pro’s and con’s for this special beauty treat.

THE PRO’S:

  1. It lasts for at least 4 – 5 days, so the time invested in having someone do it for you is definitely worth it! Especially if you are having it done for a special event such as a party, birthday or wedding!
  2. It looks great in photos! The picture above shows the mehndi when the product is still on the hands, this layer dries and crumbles off and the finished result is an orangey brown colour.
  3. Pairing it with a good manicure means you can make your hands look very elegant!

NOW…ONTO THE CON’S:

  1. It stinks
  2. If you leave it on overnight you’ll find 10 million dried up crumbs of it in your bed and on your floor
  3. You can’t do anything for about 4 hours (this could be a good thing too though!)
  4. It really stinks – especially if you catch a waft as you are doing your make up or something
  5. The fading mehndi isn’t the greatest look!

I hope you have enjoyed reading this post – If you’ve had mehndi done before you’ll know where I’m coming from! Hahahah

My Favourite Instagram Pictures of All Time

Hi Everyone!

So I don’t think I’ve ever done a post like this (I can’t be sure but who can be bothered to go through ALL 151 of the posts I’ve done on this blog to check…) This post is going to show you my most favourite instagram photos which might be a mix of people, places, products and make up looks.

I hope this doesn’t turn out to be a really self centred post…imagine if I just gave you 20 pictures of myself *insert crying laughing whatsapp emoji*

I LOVE Instagram. Out of all social media (? is that the right plural), Instagram is my favourite. I wasn’t on it for AN ETERNITY then one of my best friends created my account and showed me how to use it *the shame, the shame*. I’m sure it was like showing your parents how to use a computer “No, you have to CLICK on it”.

I now go on Instagram at least twice daily…I just love trawling through people’s posts and seeing people’s make up collections/places they’ve been/amazing food they have eaten. I feel like you really can get to know people on there too (not in a weirdo way) and everyone I’ve exchanged comments with have been lovely.

So, here I’m going to show you my most favourite pictures! I hope you enjoy them!

INSTCOLLAGE

These Instagram photos document some of my fondest memories and I’ll explain a few of them here.

In the top left and bottom right corner are two selfies taken with my two older sisters, one on my eldest sisters’ engagement and the other on my middle sisters’ engagement! These were just really fun days where we all got dressed up, had lots of family round and celebrated the fact that they had each found someone to put up with them other than me.

Middle row, furthest on the right (bear with me here) is my favourite make up look that I’ve ever done and it was using the By Terry Ombre Blackstar in ‘Misty Rock’. It wasn’t the most complicated make up look, it just happens to be my favourite because I was so happy with the finished product!

The two pictures containing food are mainly there because I enjoy food.

The centre picture was taken on the BEST HOLIDAY I HAVE EVER BEEN ON. This was a girls’ holiday and it was around 5 days of fun, drinking and laughs. It was bloody boiling and all.

So there you are, I hope you have enjoyed looking at my favourite Instagram photos, I sure have!

Please leave me a comment telling me what your favourite social media is :)…don’t forget you can FOLLOW me on Instagram, find me @snosh90 🙂

MAC’s Patisserie – The Best Nude Ever?

**read to the end of this post for a surprise announcement!**

So, a while ago, #NationalLipstickDay happened and Debenhams took full advantage by offering a £5 off 2 lip products promotion.

I umm’d and ahh’d about which two I wanted, I knew for a fact I wanted another MAC lipstick but which one was the problem?!?! I did a bit of research (which involved going through each shade and google image searching it) and landed on ‘Patisserie’. At first I was unsure about it, I thought it might be too light for me. I rave about the shade ‘Hug Me’ (it’s a lustre) but that is a slightly more brown-y version of ‘Patisserie’.

*btw I have bits of glitter on my face because I was doing something make-y :p. In this picture I have a gloss over the top of ‘Patisserie’*

patisserie 2

Having tried this without a lip liner, I have to say I’m actually really impressed! I’ve been reaching for this lipstick pretty much every day now! It’s the most perfect combination of a peachy pinky nude with a touch of golden shimmer. This doesn’t wear off patchily, it’s a lustre so it’s not too opaque in the first place. Another great thing with that is you don’t need to be too precise, it is one of those lip products that you can literally grab on the way out the door and apply without a mirror!

patisserie

This is quite a creamy formula and although it is MAC it’s not drying at all. This lipstick now has a little home in one compartment of my hand bag and I am very glad this is the case :).

What are your favourite MAC lipsticks?

Hello 🙂

I have filmed a tutorial on a cut crease glittery make up look, with my aim being to show you this is easier than it looks! I found a picture on instagram of a cut crease make up look and fancied trying one myself!

This is one of those make up looks where you don’t have to be too neat until you start to draw the cut crease in, so at first you can be a bit messy but then you do have to concentrate :). Please leave a like if you enjoyed it, subscribe if you feel like it and comment if you have any questions!

The Top 5 Beauty Instagrammers

TOP 5 INSTAGRAMMERS

Hello Everyone!

I hope you are having a lovely weekend so far AND a brilliant romantic Valentines day <3. It’s not the nicest weather today, am sitting looking outside and the sky is grey and it’s really chilly.

What better to browse while you have an afternoon cup of tea than my list of the top 5 Instagrammers for all things fashion and beauty :):

Here is the run down!

fashion.videos

IMG_2822

I LOVE scrolling through my Instagram feed and seeing a post from this account pop up. Most importantly, although they post great photos of make up looks and close ups, they post short vines of how to certain make up looks. Check out their account to see brilliant smokey eyes, bold lips and making drawing eyeliner seem like a piece of cake!

pixiwoos

IMG_2818

The creators of the infamous Real Techniques make up brushes, Sam and Nic Chapman have a great Instagram account where they post pictures of looks they have worn to awards dos or press releases, updates on their brushes line and general VERY IMPORTANT beauty news. Make sure you are following so you don’t miss out on anything!

sarahlovsmakeup

IMG_2819

I found sarahlovsmakeup just by browsing the photos section, and I love the clean, minimalist photos that she puts up. She also has a brilliant blog that matches this theme (very VDM if you ask me). I really like the way she lays out her photos and I take a lot of inspiration from accounts like this, where you think ‘ooh that looks cool’, and try and imitate it! Also, she is gorgeous and does her own make up fabulously :).

amelialiana

IMG_2820

I’m going to be honest here and say that I love Amelia, but I can’t watch her videos because I find her voice a little grating. I’m sorry if that’s harsh but it doesn’t take away from the fact that she is a brilliant blogger, she gives a great insight into high end beauty and fashion (because she looks like she’s mega rich!). She infamously uses little snippets of tape to help her keep her eye make up clean, so essentially she is just a normal girl with an abnormally overwhelming impulsion to hoard make up (I think there are many that suffer from this).

loraccosmetics

IMG_2821

Ever since ordering my Lorac Pro palette, I am truly converted to their formulas and this Instagram account brings you all the news in their product range, but also great close ups and collaborations with bloggers and make up artists to showcase their make up. However, when pay day hits it can be quite dangerous browsing their photos as it can get you when you are most vulnerable and able to make several large ‘investments’, shall we call them!

That sums up my top 5 beauty Instagrammers, don’t forget you can follow me on Instagram @snosh90, leave a comment with your account name so I can expand this list to top 10, 20 or 30!

Thank you for reading 🙂
