The Brightest Blush That Ever Did Live

I have a product to review for you today that is very versatile – some people will look at this and think it screams summer and playful days, some people will think this will give you a winter pinched flush. I happen to sit on the latter side of the fence. The product I am reviewing for you today is the MimiDidi Mineral Blush in the number 11.

I don’t blame you if you take one look at this blush and want to run away from it, holding your hands up to your face in fear. This is one of those products where a light hand isn’t just desired – it’s needed. Saying that though, I really love this blush as it is perfect for making it look like you’ve just been out for a brisk winter walk (wrapped up in a warm coat and a fluffy scarf).

I would recommend using a very soft, sparse blusher brush for this. Also, making sure once you have lightly dabbed your brush into it I would tap the excess off. This will make sure you can start off with less on your brush and slowly build up the colour if you want to.

What I especially like about this is that it is affordable and completely MATTE. Too many blushes nowadays are packed with shimmer and I think it can be too much sometimes. Especially if you want to use a highlighter across your cheekbones!

One other thing that will stop you looking like a clown is to use a white or cream bristle blusher brush – if you use one with black bristles it means you might not know how much product is on your brush in the first place.

I really like the packaging of this product too – don’t get me wrong, it is plastic but it is sturdy enough to travel and the chunky compact is quite nice to hold. Also – this would make a great Christmas present!

I have a 10% off code for anyone who is interested in browsing Born Pretty Store who kindly gifted me this product – the code is

A ‘Match’ Made In Heaven – sorry…

OK I won’t do any more world cup puns. I could, but I won’t.

We are finally experiencing a flash of summer in the UK, and boy do we have to make the most of it. It might be a long time until we see that fiery ball of goodness again! Sorry, I really do mean the sun. So, onto a combination that was engineered by the gods for summertime. The combination I am talking about here is a bold pink lip, and dewy sun kissed skin. The latter for me is in reach, as it is built into my genetics 🙂 (put simply, I am brown).

So first, the bold lip:

I have heard rave reviews about the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipsticks, and I have another one here for you to add to the mix. The shade I went for was Olé Flamingo (great name), which is a brilliant fuchsia. With cool blue undertones, it is also great to make teeth look whiter. The formula was surprising, it truly feels like velvet (but not so much it drags as you apply).

It is easily buildable, and the applicator means that you can get a really clean edge. It has been reviewed to be very long lasting, but what I found useful is that although you want it to stay put, if you apply hastily you can still clean up with a cotton bud around the corners and not end up looking like a lipstick smeared clown.

The pigment it packs is seriously crazy, but I think I would agree with Anna from ViviannaDoesMakeup, that the formula lends itself best to the bold shades rather than the nude, ‘everyday’ hues. This will be my go-to for a summer evening look :).

Now, for the dewy skin:

I am a big fan of the Bourjois Healthy Mix Gel Based Foundation (I mix a blob of shade 55 and 56, why don’t they do .5’s?!). However, if you don’t want such heavy coverage for summer Happy Light is a good way to go, I would say. Confusingly, shade 54 is pretty good for me (I think this is the darkest it goes), and it is a lot more fluid and sheer than the Healthy Mix. It blends nicely with a Real Techniques Stippling Brush, and gives a really nice dewy finish. I have to say I was slightly disappointed by the strong orange undertone, but I think this would be OK once concealer etc are finished.

I will give an update on this after a week or so of use, so I can let you know how it lasts throughout the day. I am expecting it to wear throughout a hot working day, but for me it will be having strong competition with the Garnier Miracle Skin, which I have been wearing daily and loving. With Miracle Skin, even after work, my skin tone looks even and clear, so Happy Light has a lot to live up to!

If I wear this out, I’ll update this post with a picture so you can see what it looks like :). Happy Summer!

AAAAAAAND here is the update, recently wore this look out for my sister’s birthday:
