OGX Biotin & Collagen Haircare – My god this smells insanely good…

biotin and collagen ogx

OGX is a brand that I have always loved – whenever I go into Boots I always sneakily wander past the haircare aisle to see if there are any offers on the brand because that’s when I love to pick up supplies and try out new ranges :).

I have been using these OGX Thick & Full Biotin and Collagen products for a few weeks now and I have to say I’m really blown away by the quality and the amazing scent that these products have. Since chopping my hair last year into a short bob I have been really trying to take care of my hair and use products that will promote hair growth and health.

The first products I tried were the shampoo and conditioner – I LOVE LOVE LOVE the packaging of this range. The deep purple and fancy gold colours really scream amazing quality and nourishing ingredients. The colours also make me think of a far eastern country and the scent of this range is so heady and musky and delicious. If you imagine like a really beautiful smelling eastern market with perfumes and incense and all amazing smells – that is how I would describe the scent of this range and you can definitely smell it on your hair after using it.

(how many times do I want to use the word and)

By the way, the reason the note in the picture above mentions Red Bull is because I had originally reviewed the Niacin & Caffeine range and was convinced that it smelled like Red Bull :’)

The Amplifying Lotion from this range is probably my most favourite product. I used this approximately 10 minutes ago, applying it to damp towel dried hair and running it through the ends. It’s kind of gel like and it smells just as I described – I wish they would launch this as a perfume! It really reminds me of this scent The Body Shop used to sell called ‘Tobacco Flower’ (this is taking me back lol).

OGX Biotin and Collagen - smells so good!

The oil is probably the product I’ve used the least but because this range has such an amazing smell I can’t wait to use it more – I seriously cannot rave about this range enough lol. I’m a preacher!

What is your favourite OGX range?! (It’s ok if you want to say ‘them all’ because I’d back you up big time)

Thank you for reading guys 🙂

OGX Niacin3 & Caffeine Shampoo and Conditioner

I had been wanting to try the OGX Niacin & Caffeine shampoo and conditioner ever since a picture of them popped up on my Instagram feed. I’m all up for anything hair related that stops breakage and encourages growth!

This is why I tried the range from OGX, but also why I started using the Lee Stafford Hair Treatment ‘For Hair that never grows past a Certain Length’. Though, I’m an eejit and forgot that it’s probably a good idea to use these two things separately to see which has a better result on my hair :/.

Anyway, I have been using the OGX Niacin & Caffeine shampoo and conditioner for about a week now and have been impressed with it so far! They were on promotion in Boots on a 2 for £10, but they have also been on promotion on a 3 for 2 as well! OGX do a third step product in this range which is a Root Stimulator Spray (I haven’t tried this yet).

ogx niacin and caffeine

I quite like OGX as a brand, I loved their Coconut Milk shampoo and conditioner range for the scent alone – but this is something new that really does claim to improve the condition of your hair.

The first thing I noticed when I started using it is the scent of this shampoo and conditioner. I did a Boots Haul Youtube video recently and I sniffed these in it and was amazed to find that they smelled like Red Bull. Like, wtf. I know these have ‘caffeine’ in but I never expected the range to smell like an energy drink, especially when their other ranges smell so good!

(BTW I hate Red Bull but am willing to set my olfactory differences aside for the benefit of my mop…for those of you who haven’t read the book Perfume that word means NOSE).

Smells aside, the shampoo is lovely – it’s quite a thick shampoo so this means a little goes a long way and you should be concentrating on your roots anyway. Apparently I have heard you shouldn’t actually need to shampoo the ends of your hair as the suds from your roots should run down and wash the ends of your hair anyway! If you shampoo your hair in a way where you aren’t knotting it up it also helps reduce breakage etc when you are brushing your hair after a shower.

The conditioner, again, is a very thick consistency and still has a hint of Red Bull about it. If this smell doesn’t incite memories of being hung over or being in Oceana (I’m looking at you, Vodbull Uni times) then you are well on your way to being a loyal user of this range.

The range feels very nourishing to use but in more of a scientific way. Stimulating the roots of your hair will definitely help with hair health and growth but I do think that my hair is in a better condition for using this range. I also love the Lee Stafford hair treatment being back in my life – it improves the condition of my hair SO MUCH and it has definitely helped the growth!

Here is my previous post earlier last year which shows you the before and after when I had my hair cut really short. I started using the Lee Stafford treatment and it had a really good effect on the growth of my hair!

Have you used this OGX range? Do YOU think it smells like Red Bull? Or is something wrong with me…

Thanks for reading, am about to go use this now 🙂

Tangle Teaser vs Wet Brush…FIGHT!

I have been naturally blessed with thick, healthy hair. So much so that I am the kind of girl that suffers with snapped hair bands, broken claw grips, you name it. Most horrific is that painful feeling in your follicles when your hair has been up all day then you take it down and massage your head :(((.

The Tangle Teaser (mine is purple and glittery and awesome) has been a firm resident of my top drawer for about a year – my first choice when it comes to sorting out my tangly mane of hair. It is perfect for travel, it’s small and works great for keeping hair smooth and knot free! However, I had heard that there was something called a Wet Brush that is even better than a Tangle Teaser and I knew I’d have to try it out!

wet brush

Brushing wet hair is a dangerous game – unless you use a bloody good conditioner you will have tangly hair that needs to be sorted! I usually use my Tangle Teaser to work through the ends of my hair first so that I don’t pull and the hair doesn’t break. Then I can brush it right through without having to worry!

I felt like a bit of a traitor reaching for the Wet Brush over the Tangle Teaser, but hey needs must. So what I like about the Wet Brush is the bristles – at first when I heard someone say Wet Brush I thought it was a crazy hairbrush with like towel bits in it! The bristles on the Wet Brush are thin, bendy and get through hair pretty easy :). I wouldn’t brush right from the top of my head with a wet brush just because I’d worry about breakage, but it does just as good a job as the Tangle Teaser. I think the main benefit of the Wet Brush is that it doesn’t make you molt as much so it might be a bit less tough on your hair!

I’m trying to be more gentle with mine and taking skin/nail/hair supplements as around my temples my hair has started to feel a bit weaker and I don’t want to tug any out by accident!

I think the Wet Brush is definitely a worthwhile investment – the smooth finish of the brush handle is also very satisfying – it looks like the kind of brush you would take if you went swimming!

Which side are you on…Tangle Teaser or Wet Brush?!?!

Thanks for reading guys,

How I Keep My Hair Healthy & Shiny!

Hello All!

Having healthy, shiny and glossy hair can be down to a number of things – you might have bloody good genes, you may get your hair styled at the hairdressers everyday because you are the Queen, or you might be a Barbie (poor you, you are plastic).

I’m kidding, for most people their hair isn’t how they want it to be and people are constantly on the lookout for the newest and best products to make your hair FABALUTH.

I’m pretty lucky with my hair – I’d say good indian genes are one of the factors my hair is shiny and smooth (my friend Geri always used to tell me Asian people have flatter hair follicles…and you can trust her, her mum is a lovely hairdresser :)). Aside from this, I’d say that there are a few things that I do regularly to make sure that my hair stays soft, shiny and manageable on a day to day basis.

TIPSFORHEALTHYHAIR2

If you are washing your hair every day…STOP. I used to be really, really bad at this and used to hate the feeling of having unwashed hair. Washing your hair everyday with harsh shampoos can strip the hair of it’s natural oils and shine – I’d recommend washing it one evening and then skipping a day at first (this is just about what I can deal with lol).

At some point in your life, invest in a natural bristle brush! I use the Denman’s Natural Bristle Brush which is one of the best! I don’t use this EVERY day but after I’ve washed and dried my hair sometimes I use a natural bristle brush on it to smooth the hair down – it helps to calm down frizz, especially if you dry and wash your hair in the evening like I do and then sleep on it (because I’m lazy and can’t get up in the morning).

My usual hairbrush for every day is from the Body Shop and it’s a wooden brush with bamboo pins– it’s my favourite ever, it doesn’t tug and it doesn’t break the hair!!

Quick note – I used to have long hair but then cut it into a bob. When you have long hair, don’t expect to brush your hair from the scalp to the root and not encounter a painful tangle. When I had long hair, I’d firmly hold my hair halfway down and brush the ends out, THEN go back to the roots and brush gently. This protects against breakage.

Every now and then, I’d recommend either sleeping in a hair mask (a decent conditioner is good enough) OR apply a hair oil. To be honest, even if you don’t sleep in a hair oil but just apply some to the ends of damp hair that’s good enough – my favourite is MorrocanOil – you can’t beat it! It’s very thick, a tad on the pricey side but it’s worth it…smells amazing too.

If you want a healthy scalp, I’d recommend massaging your scalp as much as you can when you shampoo your hair! Healthy hair starts at the root and having good blood circulation to the roots is the perfect way to encourage healthy hair growth.

My favourite hair shampoos/conditioners are:

After washing my hair, I always use a heat protectant spray. My favourite one is by Dove, it smells A M A Z I N G (like sweet fruit!) and it does a great job of protecting my hair from heat damage.

After blow drying and straightening (I use GHD’s but try not to use them every day)…I like to smooth down any flyaways and run the Body Shop Brazil Nut Define and No Frizz cream, which helps your hair stay soft and smooth!

I hope you find some things in this post useful!

On another note – I’m thinking about doing a ‘Hair History’ where I do a post with pictures of hair styles I’ve had throughout my life (however good or bad) and tell you a bit about them – is this something you’d wanna see? 😀

Thanks for reading lovely people,

Want to grow your hair quicker? Then try this from Lee Stafford…

Hi Everyone <3!

Today I’m posting about something that I have been testing out for around 3 months already…

*read to the end of the post to see my before and after*

To show you that I like this product, I can prove it by telling you I have used around 3 pots of this stuff and still have 2 left that I bought as back up! I’m talking about the Lee Stafford Hair Growth Treatment (the little pink pot) that everyone and their distant aunty has been talking about.

I cut my hair into a short bob at the beginning of the year (new year, new hair and all that – you can see my ‘transformation’ here). I loved having it short but because I went from having rather long hair to short quite quickly it was hard to adjust *weep*. The thing I missed the most was being able to scrape it into a pineapple explosion bun on the top of my head at the end of the day…ahh.

lee stafford hair growth

So around July time I decided to try a few things to encourage my hair to grow. I had previously dip dyed my hair and made it ombr̩ red Рwhich looked great until my hair had become so dry the ends started to go a bit orange *ew*. So once I had cut my hair into a bob it had basically lobbed off all the manky frazzeldy end bits and I had much healthier and thicker hair again.

I originally heard about the Lee Stafford Hair Growth Treatment  from the blogger and blogger Velvetghost (Gabby for those of you who are familiar with Youtube, I have met her and she’s lovely!). Instantly I had a feeling this would work well as she had used it to help her own hair grow and she had reported very good progress!

What’s great about this first of all is that if you buy it from Boots, usually there is a 3 for 2 going on which means that if you buy three of the hair growth pots it will only come to £16.98…AND you will get Advantage Card points!

It’s recommended to use this product each time you wash your hair, so basically what I do is get in the shower, wash my hair with my usual shampoo (I’m using the OGX Coconut Milk Shampoo at the moment) and then grab a golf ball sized amount of the Lee Stafford treatment and start to really massage this into my scalp. Part of me was sceptical that the only reason it’s worked so well is BECAUSE I’ve been really massaging it in and consequently stimulating the blood flow to my roots…but if it is a placebo I don’t care because it’s working lol.

Take a few minutes to really work this in – don’t worry about using this much as it doesn’t make your hair greasy it just helped my hair become shinier, healthier and stronger. You can add it to your ends too but I tended to just use my normal conditioner at the ends. I then would rinse this out – it smells amazing like really fresh herbs (which sounds weird but it smells good).

I really love this stuff, but more importantly I bet you guys want to see how it has helped me to grow my hair.

Well – here is a little comparison from when I cut my hair in January and how long it is now! Obviously I’ve only been using this product for a few months but I would say it has helped with the majority of the growth :D:

lee stafford

All in all I think I’m going to continue using this as I’d love to have my hair long again, it’s in so much better condition now and I think that’s in part down to the Lee Stafford Hair Growth treatment…

Have any of you guys used this? Any other recommendations on how to help your hair grow healthily?

Thanks for reading,
