A while ago (around 2-3 months) I was kindly sent the Flash Eyelash Growth Serumby their PR team and I was very intrigued! I am blessed with quite long eyelashes anyway but I thought if it can improve the thickness and volume then that’s amazing. They recommended trying this for 8 weeks and then reporting back on the success.
This serum is a clear, gel like consistency that you run along your upper lash line – which dries and works it’s magic (so’s the claim). It is recommended to use this in the morning and night…but I have to say I was a very bad blogger and used it sporadically throughout these 8 weeks.
Here are my lashes as they are normally:
Firstly, I’ll tell you a bit about my results. I don’t personally think I’ve used this religiously enough to give it a fair trial, but I hope to use this consistently no matter what for at least 2 weeks to see if I can notice any change. At first, when I had started to use it consistently for ONE WHOLE WEEK – I felt like my lashes were thicker and they looked really long when I curled them with my eyelash curlers (Shu Uemera). But it was after this that my routine went downhill :(…
The reason I stopped using it so quickly is because:
I kept forgetting 🙁
I did not like the wet feeling on my eyelids
The point above, times two
This was a major turn off for me – if it dried quicker and without a sheen I would have made much more of an effort to keep going with it! I’d have put an after picture up but seriously there is no change :(.
They actually have a 90 day money back guarantee so to be honest, you could try this and if it didn’t work for you you wouldn’t be any worse off…but so far I haven’t seen enough results to make it a permanent fixture on my dressing table!
After an Easter hiatus, I’m back and ready to update you on the best of beauty! Today I have a mini review to chit chat about, it’s a Maybelline mascara that I bought a few weeks ago from the drugstore, so you may have read reviews of this already. It’s the Maybelline Lash Sensational, the newest mascara brought out by the brand. At only £7.99 it’s a steal, especially if bought from Boots because at the moment they have a 3 for 2 mix and match on all cosmetics! It claims that ‘the brush captures the tiniest of lashes and with a more liquid based formula and less wax it creates more black and defined lashes.’
Usually I don’t stray from my favourite mascaras, but I wanted to try one from the drugstore that was different to the Maybelline The Falsies that I love so much. The one thing I don’t like about the Falsies mascara is that the colour can be quite an ashy black. Now I’ve read the blurby bit on the Lash Sensational it makes me think it’s the wax count that creates the ashy look.
I’ve tried the Lash Sensational and my verdict is that I like it! Don’t worry I will say more than that… It is a very black, very liquid formula which means it doesn’t get claggy or clumpy. The plastic brush is something that I usually don’t like, but in this case it is so rigid that it ensures your lashes are separated and an equal amount of mascara is applied to each lash.
I’ve taken a little before and after picture to show you (ooh get me) below:
The mascara is really lengthening and so far hasn’t got clumpy! (I have only been using it for about a week or so). The only thing that I don’t like about it is that it’s really hard to get off! I use the Simple Eye Make Up Removerso if you make your cotton pad REALLY wet and hold it on slightly longer than normal it isn’t too bad. Even with my Clinique Take The Day Off cleansing balm it’s still quite hard to get off.
All in all, I really like the formula (it’s definitely long lasting) and the curved plastic brush is a surprisingly brilliant performer :).
Have you tried this mascara? What’s your favourite drugstore mascara?
For years and years I had used the same cheap eyelash curlers that I had bought when I was a teenager. I had bought them from Boots, just simple ones that had seen their best days!
Then, the Shu Uemura eyelash curlers waltzed their chrome-y way into my life. They are so beautiful! Well designed so they fit snugly in your hand, and the black silicone pad is so comfortable and gentle when you close the curlers.
I was so used to the more flimsy, well worn pad on my old eyelash curlers that I was really surprised at what a difference a good silicone pad would make. To be honest, I was probably being a bit rough in the way that I used to use my old ones, and what I noticed the most was that you hardly need to apply any pressure in order to get a good curl.
I think using these, I won’t actually have to curl my eyelashes every day. I am quite lucky as I have naturally long eyelashes, and actually I doubt I will want to ruin these curlers by curling my lashes AFTER putting on mascara!
These curlers seem like a worthwhile investment to me, and will probably last a lifetime! They will probably last much better than my old ones :p
Also it came with a little cat charm which is apparently meant to look like Karl Lagerfeld’s cat?!
