L’Oréal True Match Anti-Fatigue Concealer

Good lord, it’s been a while since I put finger to keyboard around these parts. Cue 200 spammy spam comments on my blog and I know it’s about time I got back into some posts – I have tonnes of products to review for you and lots of make up looks to talk about!

SO first things first, I have a little surprising product review for you – this is of something I didn’t have massively high hopes for but ended up actually loving!

This L’Oréal True Match concealer (£7.99) was a weird purchase for me – I was putting off repurchasing the Urban Decay Naked Skin concealer which is my all time favourite, but it is quite expensive. I ended up flailing around in Boots like a maniac until I picked up one of these concealers (a TWIST UP PEN for God’s sake) and gave it a new home.

I was surprised that I quite liked this when I started using it. Even the twist up thing doesn’t annoy me too much! Amazing!

The concealer I chose was in the shade ‘Warm Beige’ (a complete and utter guess) and it’s quite pinky toned, but in a nice way. I do find this is good at reflecting light which makes it a good concealer for under the eyes. It’s thicker in consistency than you’d expect from a twist up pen concealer, but that was a pleasant surprise to me!

I think because of the shade of it I’d be better off using a colour corrector under this, as it can come off a little grey/ashy for me when used on it’s own.

I’ve recently started enjoying using a small concoction of concealers to help balance my face out – I use the Urban Decay Naked Skin in Medium Neutral (£19) as the main concealer under my eyes (yessss I caved and bought another), this concealer by L’Oréal around the edges of my undereyes and then the Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer in ‘Soft Beige’ (£5.49) to highlight at the outer corners of my eyes. This really helps to wake my face up and make it look alot healthier…like I’ve had a really good sleep!

Have you tried this concealer before? Or any weird twisty up pen ones?!

Feels glad to be back people!

Thanks for your support and reads, those of you who are reading 🙂

What Don’t You Leave The House Without?

For me, it used to be concealer and mascara and I guess I used to say ‘I can’t leave the house without these things’.

But fast forward a good 5 years or so and I can’t say I wouldn’t leave the house without it, because a lot of the time I do. I think as you grow older, you shed all the fucks you used to give. So when you are like, 100, you must look around at all the fucks that women have strewn carefree onto the floor and just smile.

What’s In My Make Up Travel Bag?

I’ve been pretty busy the last few weekends and it’s made me realise that recently I have probably done the best in terms of trying to condense down my make up bag :). I thought I’d share with you the products that I’ve chosen that have pride of place in my make up bag when I am off on my travels on a weekend away or hen do like the weekend just gone!

I try to travel as light as possible and usually try to take multi tasking products – some of which you will recognise as I more than likely will have already spoken about them before.

My make up bag of choice is the Zoeva Rose Gold clutch that my make up brush collection came in.

Not only is it beautiful, but it’s the perfect size for storing a few choice make up tools and the essential things that ensure you can get your face from zombie to flo’less without having to carry shed loads.

When it comes to skin I have a few products that might be small but make a big difference to my make up.

The Esteé Lauder foundation I use is the Double Wear, which comes in a beautiful frosted glass bottle – NOT appropriate for travelling. Especially with the turbulence it would experience being banged about and hurled up stairs in Tube stations (poor little bottle). So I decanted some of this into a little empty sample pot I got from the Body Shop. For concealer, I use the Maybelline Anti Age Eraser Eye which is bloody brilliant at hiding those bags from late nights, in combination with the Maybelline Fit Me concealer for a bit more coverage.

The Revlon Photoready powder is PERFECT for setting your concealer without it flashing back too much in photography which is one of the reasons I bought this in the first place (it also has a little mirror in it which is useful).

Finally for skin I use the Tanya Burr Peachy Glow Palette as it has a bronzer, highlighter AND blush in it! Genius!

For eyes/eyebrows I use the Soap & Glory Brow Archery (all my packaging has rubbed off now lol) set with a Rimmel clear brow gel. The mascara of choice is a teeny tiny one, a little Benefit Roller Lash sample which is actually really good!

For tools, again I try to keep it down to a few key essentials – from Real Techniques my two favourite brushes and most USED brushes are the Buffing brush which I use for foundation and the Contour brush that is ideal for concealer under your eyes.

I always make sure I take my Tweezerman tweezers (you never know when you might need them), with a Laura Mercier cheek brush for powder and an FCUK brush which doubles for both bronzer and blusher :).

What essentials do you have in your travel make up bag?

I’d love to hear your essential products 🙂

I am always opening to swapping things out or finding a larger make up bag…I mean, no I’m not that’s a lie. Who said that?! *looks around*

The Best Concealer Combo Ever

For some parts of my make up routine, there are some staple products that have been on the bill for a very long time – not the stars of the show, but ever present supporting acts that are the ones holding up the whole thing.

The two concealers I want to show my respect for are the Maybelline Anti Age Eraser Eye concealer and the Maybelline Fit Me concealer. *no don’t worry this isn’t an ad, these are the two concealers that have lived in my make up drawers for a very long time!* With concealers, I’d say these are part of your make up routine where if you find the right products for the job, you don’t really chop and change them too much. This is why I’ve found what I like and I’ve stuck to it!

concealers

The Maybelline Anti Age Eraser Eye concealer is a little twist up concealer that only costs around £5.99! This is such a bargain and it lasts forever. The shade I use is ‘Nude’ I think, because this is the darkest shade that they do. They only really have three shades, but the one I use it perfect for highlighting and concealing.

This concealer has a little sponge tip applicator – I have heard a lot of people saying that they hate the little sponge applicator saying that it is unhygienic and harbours germs, but I’m not that bothered about the sponge. If anything, it’s only me that uses it so why would it be a problem?! I don’t use the sponge to blend it out, I just use my usual Real Techniques contour brush to gently dab the concealer into a flawless layer.

The thing I liked most about this concealer is that once you have set it with a powder it doesn’t budge. The powder I use is amazing and pretty affordable – it’s the Revlon photo ready powder.

The Maybelline Fit Me in the shade 20 is very good for adding a bit more coverage. I tend to layer these two because the combination makes my concealer last a lot longer and it brightens the area a lot more than just using one on its own. All I need to do with these two is to apply the Eraser Eye concealer via the sponge tip and then smooth over a small amount of the Fit Me concealer, then dab it all out with the contour brush. After this, setting with a light dusting (lol sounds like baking) of the Revlon powder means your concealer will last ALL DAY. WINNING.

What are your favourite concealers?

Happy Easter everyone!

Starting out? Make Up Bag Essentials…part 1

I’d say I’ve been looking at make up for long enough to be able to put together a really STRONG make up bag…something that has the vital components to create a nicely made up face…

(BTW it’s also my 26th birthday today…feels weird. Good job there’s a product in here with ‘Anti Age’ in the title).

Think about your everyday make up, for me that consists of foundation, concealer, eyebrows, blush bronzer, mascara and powder. A kit making up these very simple and reasonably priced items is a great way to help someone out who is just starting out with make up, or maybe you want to treat someone you know who has terrible eyebrows and you just want to nudge them in the right direction *giggles*.

Let’s start with base:

FOUNDATION –

So, I use the Esteé Lauder Double Wear Foundation because I was able to find a really close match to my skin. I usually struggle in the lower price bracket ranges, but there are a few that I like from the drug store. The Esteé Lauder foundation starts at around £27, which might seem like a lot but you get LOADS of product and I received a little sample bottle which lasted me longer than you’d think too!

Snip20151102_1

Other more reasonably priced options (that I’ve tried and are also very good) are…

CONCEALER –

My personal favourite concealer is a drugstore version from Maybelline. The Anti Age Eraser Eye is a bloody brilliant concealer. This costs under £10 and lasts for a very long time – it has a little sponge head applicator to make it extra easy, it’s not too high coverage, more medium. This is a really good formula that doesn’t sit in lines once set with a good powder :).

I use the Anti Age Eraser Eye with the Maybelline FIT Me Concealer which is the best highlighting and concealing product to layer over the top of other concealers. It’s great for adding just the right amount of coverage – if I’ve had a particularly heavy night this helps me out lol. I use the shade 20 for highlighting 🙂

MASCARA –

When it comes to mascara, you are SPOILT by the drugstore (or high street stores as we say in Britain). Several of my favourite mascaras you can easily pick up from Boots for around £7-8. My current favourite is the Maybelline Lash Sensational which is brilliant for curling and lengthening – and it has a sturdy brush which means it’s perfect for catching all your lashes in a few sweeps. If you want to see my full detailed review of it then click here!

MaybellineLashSensational

Other great alternatives are:

EYEBROWS –

Rather than point you in the direction of a cheap product, I’d rather point you in the direction of the BEST performance product and let you make your mind up. My favourite product for everyday eyebrows is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Pomade which costs around £15 but it’s so worth the money. Used with an angled brush, you can create defined yet natural brows and I wouldn’t be without it. The only downside is that this product can dry up – but I spray mine with a few pumps of Make Up Setting Spray and that injects a bit more life into it.

Snip20160118_1

I also love the Soap & Glory Brow Archery for the days when speed is the name of the game!

Those are my most vital components that I think should live in your make up bag – if you liked this I may follow this post up with a part 2 containing blush bronzer highlighter and whatever else I can think of that finishes off the basics 🙂

Thank you for reading everyone!

My Most Recent Repurchases

There are usually a few ‘holy grail’ make up products that hang around the depths of my dressing table – but recently there have been a few things that I have repurchased. I only repurchase things if I REALLY like them. I mean, really. I am not a second chancer, or a ooh it might have changed-er, I am seriously brutal.

The things I have repurchased most recently are a mix of skin care and make up – and to me, they are essentials that will stay on my dressing table for a very long time!

repurchase

When it comes to skin care, two of my favourite products are Nivea Creme and the Simple Kind to Eyes Make Up Remover. Nivea Creme is something my family have used always – I have always seen my mum use it – but I don’t use it on my whole face. The only thing I use this for is to moisturise my lips and maybe on areas of dry skin. It’s a very thick moisturiser and is great if you want something to moisturise that will last for a very long time.

The Simple Make Up Remover I have been using for the past 5 years or so…I can’t tell you how many of these bottles I’ve gone through! This stuff is really amazing, it helps to get off mascara so well (on a scale of mascaras I’d say it’s great from a Benefit Bad Gal Lash to a Maybelline Lash Sensational!).

For make up, I actually have TWO concealers – I know, it’s probably a bit much. The first one is the Maybelline Anti Age Eraser Eye concealer, which is one of the best concealers I have ever used! It’s not even very expensive, it has a foam dome shaped applicator which I don’t mind but a lot of people have posted hacks of how to get it off. I love this – it’s medium coverage I’d say but it feels so light and it blends like a dream. The next concealer I repurchased is this Maybelline FIT Me in the shade 20. I use this every day on top of the Anti Age for just a touch more coverage..it’s so good!

Lastly, I have something that I think I have repurchased at least three times. This is the Soap & Glory Brow Archery – which is an eyebrow pencil that has a spoolie on one end and an ashy toned brown pencil on the other. It’s a twist up, which I love and the shade I have is called ‘Hot Chocolate’. The spoolie is genius – and these last a very long time!

So that’s my run down of the things I’ve repurchased the most recently, I hope you’ve enjoyed reading!

Thanks,

Roshni 🙂 xxx

A Speedy Glittery Smokey Eye Make Up Tutorial!

Hi Everyone!

So I have an exciting new tutorial that I’ve filmed for you, where I have created a glittery, shimmery smokey eye look that is ideal for a glamorous evening or night out. It uses matte eyeshadows to build up intensity around the crease and then a shimmery eyeshadow stick (By Terry Ombre Blackstar in Misty Rock – I’m sure you’ve heard someone talking about it before).

This look does use false eyelashes and I’d definitely recommend these ones that I have used in the video which are by the brand Red Cherry, these are GORGEOUS and they only cost around £3.50!! Bargain – AND you can reuse them! I would say you can reuse them a maximum of three times, which is better than the usual Eyelure strip lashes you get from Boots.

The Top 5 Ickiest Make Up Facts

***Quickly before I start this post, just a mention to say I’m almost at 300 Bloglovin followers! I will include a nice big image at the bottom of this post so you can go and give my blog a follow if you feel like it!***

I was putting on some false eyelashes the other day, when something I had known all along finally registered within my brain. After thinking about it for some time, I realised there are quite a few generally icky things that we either have to use as part of our make up routines, or have to put up with!

*these are facts..loosely translated as things that I think need to be spoken about, you won’t find them on wiki or anything*

ickiestmakeupfacts

MY TOP 5 ICKIEST MAKE UP FACTS

  1. Why why why does eyelash glue have to smell SO BAD. It’s like God’s punishment for wanting eyelashes that are longer and thicker. Even the good brands like Duo stink…they smell like…fish. It’s so disgusting it ALMOST makes me stay away from falsies (not really, I’m a soldier).
  2. Mascara eye goop! I was watching that episode of Friends where Chandler goes out with one of Rachel’s friends and he felt weird about her mascara eye goop. Guaranteed in the morning when you are getting ready for work, at some point (usually when you actually open your mouth to talk to another human being) eye goop starts to collect in the corner of your mascara’d eye. Yick.
  3. Poorly set foundation/concealer! If you don’t have a good foundation/concealer and touch your face, but then touch something white, it will get ruined. What’s worse is if you have a terrible foundation, you scratch your face or if someone was to wipe a finger down it, EVERYONE would be able to see the difference in skin colour. Terrible.
  4. OMG the taste of make up wipes when you have to take off lipstick with them. If you are using baby wipes it’s less disgusting, but if you are using proper make up wipes then nothing will save you. There’s no avoiding that horrific taste of the make up cleansing wipe, I do not want to taste soap thank you very much but I need a way of taking off this lipstick. Gah!
  5. Why the hell does lipstick ALWAYS end up on your teeth. This one is less disgusting, it’s just pure annoying. It doesn’t taste nice, it’s usually there the whole evening and you’re wandering around oblivious smiling like a cheshire cat.

Hope you enjoyed reading these and being put off your breakfast by them! MMMMMMM

Beauty Whys…

BEAUTYWHYS

Have you ever had a REALLY annoying thing happen to you when doing your hair or make up, which gets you thinking, ‘WHAI DIS HAPUN TO MEH’!!?

I am here to show you that:

1) It is ok to curse.

2) It happens to everyone (and it is a big deal hahaha)

and finally,

3) You gotta get through dis (thank you Daniel Bedingfield).

Here we go! *takes deep breath*

WHY NUMBER ONE:

Stepping out of your house without applying powder.

This happened to me this morning, I sat in my car and looked in the little slidey mirror and watched as a shine brighter than anything appeared across my T Zone. Thanks man.

WHY NUMBER TWO:

Applying your false eyelashes directly onto your own making them impossible to take off.

OMG this hurts so bad. They looked so nice on! Why have they melted themselves into my eyelash roots…I didnae go near any fire!

WHY NUMBER THREE:

You go through the moisturise/blow your nose cycle around 20 times.

Dry skinned sisters will know my feels for this one. You moisturise, your skin looks bloomin’ lovely. Your eyes start to water of their own accord. This makes your nose run. You carry on and put foundation/concealer on. You cave and blow your nose. DRY PATCH REAPPEARS. Repeat.

WHY NUMBER FOUR:

You get all up close to do your eyebrows, pull away and realise it’s given birth to thousands of teeny tiny hairs underneath your arch.

Close up, in your mirror your eyebrows are on fleek, they look the bomb and all other types of metaphors/similes. Then you look at yourself at arms length in a normal mirror and you realise you really should have plucked/threaded/chainsawed those bad boys. DAMMIT.

WHY NUMBER FIVE:

You use your Tangle Teezer on wet hair, works like a dream. You then run your COMB through the same hair and holy shit why does that hurt so much!

This again happened to me today. La la la all well and good using my trusty Purple Glittery Tangle Teezer. Then all of a sudden you switch to a comb for your parting and BOOM a thousand broken hairs. This is why when you go Tangle Teezer, you never go back. (What are you talking about, of course you can use it in that context).

I hope you enjoyed my Beauty Why’s! Please like and comment if you can think of your own or you have been through these and feel my pain 🙂

Lots of love to you all,

ALSO I am almost at 200 Blog Lovin’ followers! I want to say thank you to all of you who have followed and to those of you who haven’t, please check out my profile by clicking Blog Lovin’ below! Ahh right this minute I’m on 188 followers!!!!! EEEK
