Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick – ‘Miranda May’ <3

Hi Guys!

I know I’ve been pretty quiet on the blogging front recently – things have been pretty hectic since New Year so it definitely feels good to sit at my laptop and type away (tappety tap tap) about something that I love!

Yes today I am reviewing the Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in the shade ‘Miranda May’ (£23) and can I just say, I bought this ONLINE. Yes, I bought a CT lipstick….ON. LINE. WITHOUT SEEING IT IN PERSON.

Am I mad? Most probably, yes. Lol I also bought a foundation on the internet which must mean I’m positively doolally. (what a nice word to say, it just rolls off the tongue).

Charlotte Tilbury ‘Bette’ Eyes To Mesmerise Eyeshadow

Hello!

I have a review of an outstandingly gorgeous product for you today – the product is from Charlotte Tilbury and it’s a shade that has been really popular. The Eyes to Mesmerise range features some beautiful eyeshadows and I wanted to try one of the cream eyeshadows.

I was browsing online and I settled on the shade ‘Bette’ which is a lovely antique-y gold which applies like a dream and stays put all night!

*I had to make sure I took a picture before I smushed my finger around in here lol*

The Battle of the Highlighters

Battle of the Highlighters

A few years ago, if someone said I’d be highlighting my face I’d be thinking of something neon pink that belongs in the stationary drawer. Fast forward to 2016 and highlighting is a vital step in most make up wearer’s routines.

When choosing your highlighter I would consider the following things:

  • The formula – cream or powder?
  • The glitteriness – do you want something subtle or IN YO FACE
  • How much you want to spend
  • Whether you want it to be warm toned or cool toned

These sound like scary decisions but actually it’s pretty simple – there are so many affordable highlighters nowadays that it doesn’t have to be a decision that bursts the seams of your purse *great mental image there*

My top picks are in the picture above!

For a iridescent but long lasting highlight I use the Benefit Girl Meets Pearl liquid highlighter which looks like a unicorns barfed it up (by that I mean it looks FABULOUS) – it’s more a cool toned lilac filled highlighter that you can just dab along the high points of your cheeks and then dot down the centre of your nose if you like. This is a click up dispenser bottle and this is a great, tidy way of using it.

For a more subtle highlight that costs a little more (but you get contour too) you could go to Charlotte Tilbury and opt for the Filmstar Bronze and Glow. This medium toned highlight in the duo is SO finely milled it’s really beautiful. Sometimes I wonder if the highlight is TOO finely milled but maybe it’s just me who wants to look like a glitter ball. Lol.

Finally, for the most glitzy highlight you can go for the MAC Soft and Gentle Mineralise Skin Finish. This is probably my favourite highlighter and in my mind I guess I call it the ‘Going Out Highlighter’ lol. The glittery particles in this are larger than other highlights but this still creates a gorgeous gold toned glow on your cheekbones when applied with a feathery make up brush.

What’s your favourite highlighter?

What Bronzers are best to Contour with? Lemme tell you!

Hello everyone!

Merry Sunday to you all, I hope you are relaxing and showing your lovely Mum some appreciation (and then continuing to do so even when it’s not Mother’s Day)

I wanted to give you guys a run down on the bronzer’s I’ve tried and the ways in which I use them the most! My favourite ever bronzer so far is the NARS Laguna – it’s the bronzer that I have ceremoniously hit pan on.

bronzer101

NARS Laguna is so versatile – you can use it for contouring (which is what I use it for most of the time), bronzing up your whole face, slimming down your neck, or like a transition eyeshadow shade. Laguna will probably be too dark for light skin tones but it is just right for me :).

It costs around £28 which is a lot but it’s definitely worth the money for staying power and pigmentation. Look at what a mess it is lol but I won’t chuck it until it’s all disintegrated…

nars laguna

This bronzer is 90% matte, it does have very tiny shimmer particles in it but you don’t really notice – AND it is so pigmented you don’t need very much of it to create some flattering shadow on your face!

The Esteé Lauder Bronze Goddess bronzer is massive – the compact is almost as big as my face! This bronzer is much more of a orangey undertoned bronzer. It’s very warm compared to the NARS Laguna, but it is still a great everyday bronzer to keep in your stash.

The Estée Lauder bronzer is £33 but again, you get a massive mirror and the product is worth it. This bronzer has larger shimmer particles in it than the NARS Laguna so if you want completely matte stay away from this.

bronze goddess estee lauder bronzer

Back to a more cool toned bronzer, you could try the Charlotte Tilbury Film Star Bronze and Glow which is in the most AMAZING luxurious packaging! The palette has a bronzer which is cool toned (I think I’ve got the Light version) and it has a finely milled champagne coloured highlight in there.

charlotte tilbury bronze and glow

It’s a powder that’s SO finely milled it kind of means it isn’t as glittery, it’s more shimmery than something like MAC Soft & Gentle (I think that’s actually a good thing though). It costs around £49, which is completely excessive so this is perfect for a gift, or a way to really spoil yourself. The sculpting powder is VERY good though, it doesn’t look like much in the pan but is perfect for contouring.

What are your favourite bronzers?!

Thanks for reading everyone!

Left Valentines until the last minute? Click right here my friend…

Valentines Gift Guide

So there’s only a few days left until Valentines day…and I’m looking at you partners that have failed to get something for your lovely lady!

If you’re left scrambling around convenience stores and garage flower stalls for an amazing present, that officially means you’ve left it til the last minute and you need your Fairy BlogMother…ME!

(If you are a lady looking around in panic for ideas for your boyfriend/husband then click here for my Gift Guide – What to get Him!!)

This is the guide for you if your girlfriend/wife/fiancé is into make up, beauty and fashion (especially perfect if you don’t know a thing about any of that!)

For Valentines day, you’ll have the strongest impact if you take ‘practical’ out of the present. By that I mean, you want to give something that shows ‘want’, something luxurious and beautiful!

For make up, your best bet is to look to Charlotte Tilbury. You’ll get gorgeous packaging, great quality products and hearts in the eyes of your lady!

My top picks would be the Matte Revolution lipsticks from £23, there is a beautiful limited edition rosy pink called ‘Between the Sheets’ which was named by the public (shown below). Matte lips are bang on trend right now and your girlfriend will appreciate the fact that 1. this is beautiful and 2. it’s a bloody great lipstick.

between the sheets

If your girlfriend likes to wear eyeshadow, then a cream eyeshadow pot in a flattering shimmery colour will be perfect. CT does amazing long lasting cream eyeshadows in the most gorgeous colours – Eyes To Mesmerise cream eyeshadows are worth the price – from around £22, but they will last forever and actually it means that your girlfriend will get ready quicker because you literally put this on your finger and then apply it to your eyelid 🙂. Marie Antoinette is a beautiful shade that will suit all skin tones.

Don’t say I don’t look after you ;).

Some other great finds are:

If your lovely lady isn’t really into make up but she loves things like candles and fragrances then there a few stand out things that I’m sure she would love.

Jo Malone is the best place if she’s a fragrance lover, they do some great sets and perfumes and popular favourites are English Pear & Freesia, Blackberry & Bay and Orange Blossom. (from £28)

jo malone blackberry and bay

Another place you can head to is Diptyque. They have really great quality fragrances, and they come in gorgeous minimalist bottles. Diptyque also do candles so this is a great idea if your partner loves homeware and spending hours traipsing around IKEA (maybe with you in tow).

Other fail safe ideas are:

I hope you find something for inspiration! All of these retailers have stores you can dash to to pick things up and in make up shops there will be willing sales assistants to help you if you are stuck.

Happy Shopping everyone!

September Beauty Wishlist – If Money Was No Object!

I go through phases where I see a beauty product over and over again and I think AHHHH I WANT IT. Then I don’t buy it because ALAS, my beauty addiction is not the reason why I am working full time.

However, every now and then I love to bundle together the little cosmetic joys that are making me drool over instagram and blog posts and create a beauty wishlist…for fun I also tot up the damage to my imaginary brimming wallet.

TO THE IMAGINARY WALLET WE GO…**woosh**

1. Laura Mercier Eye Chromes Palette – £32.00

Oh Holy Palette! This is an insane looking palette (not one for daytime, this) from Laura Mercier – this will quench any chrome/glitter/shimmer thirsts you have and more. The shades look like they would be super pigmented and used with some Fix Plus or make up spray these would look AMAZING.

lauramercier

2. Zoeva Rose Golden Palette – £15.50

This palette looks insanely good and all for such great value. Considering the Urban Decay Naked Palettes are around £40 per pop, depending on how pigmented these eyeshadows are I would say that’s a pretty good steal in the palette department. The shades look awesome, with two matte shades thrown in there for good measure.

3. Charlotte Tilbury Film Star Bronze & Glow – £49.00

The most pricey item in my wishlist, this would most definitely be a beauty investment as I would expect this to be super pigmented due to the price and last a heck of a long time. This has had rave reviews and I’d be mad not to want this contour and highlight duo!
charlottetilbury1

4. Charlotte Tilbury Luxury Eye Palette in Dolce Vita – £38.00

I didn’t realise I had so many palettes in this wishlist. Oops. This quad from Charlotte Tilbury looks like it would be such an investment – the shades you get in here have enough for a very neutral matte day time look and then a POW IN YO FACE shade for evenings and nights out. That burnished gold has me weak at the knees.

tilbury1

5. Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat Lip Liner in Pillow Talk – £16.00

You can’t beat a good nude lip liner and I’ve heard that Charlotte Tilbury ones are some of the best. Designed to be creamy but long lasting, these would be ideal for layering under a nude lipstick, or helping to nude out a pinky lip you have already applied. This seems to be one of the more realistic things from this wishlist that I would purchase!

pillowtalk

6. Tarte 12 Hour Amazonian Clay Blush in Flush Pink Berry – £9.25 converted from dollars

This blush looks so pretty and to be honest, although I’ve only picked one shade I could quite easily have every single one of them. I have heard rave reviews about the colour pay off and I’ve always wanted to try something from the Tarte brand.

tarte

7. Sephora Cream Lip Stain in Pink Souffle – £9.62

I would liken the colour of this lip stain to the blush I have put in above. The shade I’ve chosen would be a great pinky lip that isn’t too brash – it would be ideal for everyday wear! These are matte/satin-y lip stains from what I’ve read, they sound amazing and would hopefully last for a long time on the lips too :).

21M5NAKrHVL

So that is the end of my September Wishlist!

The grand total if I were to buy ALL these amazing products would beeeeeee…..

£179.37!!!!

I hope you enjoyed reading this – please leave me a comment if you’ve tried any of these or want the same things as I do in your beauty collection!

Thanks for reading,

The Burgundy Lip

Hello ‘Pressers!

One key trend that is ALL OVER the beauty scene this winter is the dark red lip, or burgundy lip. Usually more of a nudey – pinky lip person, this is quite bold but looks great as part of a winter make up look.

I know that brands like Nars, Mac and Charlotte Tilbury really rule the roost when it comes to matte style bold lips, but I have also heard great things about the Rimmel bold lipsticks. I thought I’d give Rimmel a go, and also try a lip liner of a similar colour to really do it properly.

The shade I chose is ‘Starry Eyed’ in the Lasting Finish range, matching this with the 1000 Kisses  ‘Black Tulip’ lip liner:

IMG_1720
I think the key things to remember with wearing a bold lip are:

  • Keep the rest of your make up toned down (I tend to leave blusher and just use bronzer to make sure it’s not too full on)
  • Moisturise your lips to make sure the colour lasts the longest
  • Make sure your lip liner is sharpened!
  • Slowly build up the colour rather than apply thickly

IMG_1722

IMG_1716

The lip liner is great, (smells just like Crayola though which I’m not too sure about) and really helps you when you apply the actual lip colour.

The lip stick itself is a good texture, not too matte but is really pigmented. Be careful when you first apply it though or you could end up looking like Ronald McDonald. Not a good look.

At a measly £2.99 for the lip liner, and only £4.99 for the lipstick itself, it is MUCH better value than some of the higher end brands, so affordable AND looks great for a Christmas night out :).
