Favourite Scents for Summer

We are well into May now and the sun is shining well after we all get home from work. That means barbecues, drinks and fun times in the sun. To take you from spring into summer, I’ve put together my three favourite fragrances to wear in summer.

When it comes to fragrances that are light and fresh, these are definitely the kinds of scents I reach for in the summer time on a daily basis.

The fragrances above (back to front) are: The Body Shop Body Mist in Vanilla, Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess and the Zoella Blissful Mistful Body Mist. Apologies if you click on the Bronze Goddess link and find that it’s out of stock, that stuff seriously flies off the shelves! Online or real life…

The most summery of all of these fragrances has to be the Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess. This is the definition of summer for me, it’s the most beautiful coconut-ty beach-y scent you could ever dream of. What’s great about this is that it has a slight smokiness (which is a bit sexual!) that you can smell once it’s actually on your skin, about 5 minutes after you’ve applied it. It’s perfect for day time, night time, any time really! My ultimate fave.

The Body Shop Vanilla Body Mist is a bit of a throw back to my teen years. It’s ideal if you can’t afford scents like the Bronze Goddess which is about £45. This is a very warm, sweet but not too sweet scent that’s perfect for daytime and work. A spritz of this on the wrists, side of the neck and hair is the ideal way to apply as you pirouette on out the door.

Finally, this Zoella Body Mist is the most unusual of the bunch IMO. This packaging is gorgeous, not quite a rose gold but more of a rose copper? *can you get that?!*

The scent as I’ve said is quite unusual, the way I would describe this is probably an orange-y clean, fresh smelling scent. It’s the kind of scent that lasts really well and you can put it on in the morning and then every now and then through out the day get a whiff of it and think ‘mm’. (Well, you might do).

What are your favourite scents for summer? Am always open to recommendations!

Hello Everyone <3!

The first thing I have to say is TGIF!!!

To ease you into the weekend I thought I’d do a post celebrating all things GOLD. Sifting through my collection of beauty goods and wares, I noticed a lot of my products centre around gold, copper or bronze as they tend to suit my skin tone the most.

The first thing is my favourite  perfume EVER. It’s the Bronze Goddess scent that is brought out by Esteé Lauder every summer. It is part of a range that does a shimmer body oil and they also have bronzers and a cosmetics range to go with it. This scent is just beautiful, it is a coconutty, slightly sweet smelling perfume that lasts all day and can take you from day through to night. The packaging for this perfume is just, a DREAM. Seriously, it’s gold, shiny reflective mirror-y goodness all in one bottle.

Now, when it comes to tools there are two of my most favourite and most useful brushes that just happen to feature gold as a theme. The first is the Zoeva 106 powder brush. This is one of the softest brushes I think I’ve ever used, it washes amazingly and it makes applying powder to easy and flawless. The link I included is to the set, you can get the powder brush on it’s own but I think it has to be the silver one :(. The second brush I have is the Contour Brush by Real Techniques which is perfect for concealing under the eyes. Ever since I saw Velvetghost (Gabby on Youtube) use it in this way, I haven’t looked back. Again it comes mainly in the set but I’m sure you could find it on it’s own somewhere for sale!

Next I have three eyeshadows that are heavily pigmented and warm, gilded and beautiful. One of them is MAC’s ‘Woodwinked’ (bottom left), which is a heavily pigmented bronze-y gold. The texture is silky and on a primed eyelid it will last all day or night. Even if you don’t use a crease colour for definition, with this eyeshadow you can pack it on and blend the edges. It almost takes on it’s own shade in the crease area that makes it look like you’ve spent ages on your makeup. The swatch of this on my hand is the warm brown on the lower right hand side :).

Secondly, there is the Maybelline Colour Tattoo  in ‘On and On Bronze’. This cream eyeshadow is one of my favourite that I own. It’s so pigmented, it doesn’t need a primer or anything and it literally lasts 24 hours if you don’t rub your eyes too much! The swatch on my hand is the top one :).

The third and final eyeshadow is again a cream eyeshadow and this is a paint pot by MAC, in the shade ‘Rubenesque’. This is a more orange toned gold, which can look a bit off-putting in the pot but when applied it isn’t as orange as it looks. I think on darker skin this takes on more of a bright gold colour, I imagine on lighter skin this might pick up more of an orange tint. On my hand this is the lower left swatch :).
