The ‘Never-Ending Summer’ July Birchbox…

July 2016 Birchbox Unboxing

I signed up for a beauty subscription box with Birchbox UK a couple of months ago and the time has come to unbox my July box with you all! The design of this ‘Never-Ending Summer’ box is really beautiful – the colours are so luxurious and  it has been created in collaboration with Millie Mackintosh – star of Made in Chelsea and model/businesswoman.

My previous months Birchboxes have been living on top of my chest of drawers, they are perfect for storing little things like hair clips, mini lip balms and stuff! Also, I’ve taken to putting my perfumes on top of the boxes as it’s the ideal place to leave them so I remember to put perfume on before I run out of my room/out of the house in the morning :).

Again this Birchbox cost £12.95, as it does each month but this month in particular the full size item alone was definitely worth it.

Here we go, I’m gonna show you what I got!

July Birchbox Inside...

July Birchbox

Contents of my July Birchbox

Elemis Hydra-Boost Day Cream (sample size) the full size costs £39 RRP-

Elemis is an awesome brand to see in a subscription box, it’s used in many spas up and down the country so that’s a sure-fire sign it’s gonna do some good to your skin. This is described as an anti-oxidant rich day cream which helps to lock in essential moisture and if you read my most recent post about having dry skin you’ll know this will be right up my street! This has a really dewy finish (but not greasy) and it’s got the most gorgeous zingy fruity scent to it!

John Frieda Anti-Frizz Primer (full size) £9.99 RRP-

This product is full size, which is excellent considering how much a Birchbox costs. This primer from John Frieda has fell into my hands at the exact right time because at the moment I just have to go near the window and I can feel my hair starting to curl up at the ends. It’s been really humid in the UK at the moment and John Frieda are a brand who have spent a long time on trying to fix national and global frizz. I haven’t used this yet but am looking forward to it – think this will last me ages too!

Elemis, John Frieda, Nails Inc In My June Birchbox

Nails Inc Mini (sample size) the full size can cost £15 RRP-

The Nails Inc mini I received in my Birchbox was a pretty light green colour which is perfect for summer. I think this shade is called ‘Belsize Lane’ (unless I’ve read it wrong) and I’m really looking forward to trying this out, but wondering how long this tiny bottle will last me!

LOC x Millie Ultra Gloss Lip Pencil, (full size) £9 RRP-

I’m a bit disappointed in this pencil but only because of the shade that I got, I think if I had got a shade more suited to my skin tone I’d be using this every day! This is a pale pink gloss stick in ‘Bohemian Rose’ which sounds really apt for something created by Millie Mackintosh. This is too light for me unfortunately but I will be giving this to a good home!

Caudalie Micella Cleansing Water (sample size) full size costs £15 RRP-

This micellar water is a great addition to this months box, for someone who sometimes travels quite a bit. This mini is perfect, with a good sturdy screw top there’s no chance of this spilling inside your bag. The cleanser is really gentle and light and actually does a good job of taking off eye make up too so I’m impressed :).

I’m excited to see what I get next month – let me know what’s your favourite from this box!

Thanks for reading everyone 🙂

Dream Sun Bronzer – A bit of a disappointment…

During a venture to Boots not long ago, I stumbled across a product that I thought would change my blush/bronzer game forever!

I am a big fan of multi tasking products as they save so much space, time and effort and they happen to be great for travelling. So imagine my glee when I saw the Maybelline Dream Sun Bronzer and Blush in one  which looked right up my street.

I loved the idea that in summer when it’s all sunny and colourful I could just dip a brush into this pan, swirl it around and get the perfect mix of blush and bronzer to get a bit of a summer glow. The shade I bought was ‘Golden Tropics’ which was quite a light bronzer powder with a pretty pastel pink blush section in it.

Dream Sun Bronzer - Golden Tropics

This has a screw on lid which I thought was quite a good touch – sometimes compacts like this just have a weak plastic cover that you push onto them which can often break, but this one was a bit more sturdy.

Moving onto the actual powder itself, this bloody stinks. It has SUCH a strong smell, like really intense parma violets (which I happen to hate the smell of). In fact, I’d go as far as to say that the smell actually puts me off using it and makes it an even clearer point to me, that this is a product which has perfume in it.

So, if this compact had a really good colour pay off or something like that, I MIGHT be able to give it a second chance. Most disappointingly, this product has a serious lack of colour and lasting pigment. I tried to swatch this for you guys a good two – three times and couldn’t get a very good picture to show you:

Dream Sun Bronzer 3

You can see from the above picture that the most pigmented part of this compact is the blush, the bronzer is neither here nor there. This bronzer and blush contains shimmer throughout the whole thing as well, so if you are after something more matte stay away from this. There is another shade of this bronzing compact available (a darker one) but I’m unconvinced whether this would really change my opinion of it.

In the pan this looks REALLY nice, but unfortunately that’s as far as it goes :(.

Dream Sun Bronzer 2

Have you tried any good bronzer/blush compacts that you can recommend? That don’t stink? Haha!

Tanya Burr’s Peachy Glow Cheek Palette

I have been wanting to try this Tanya Burr Peachy Glow Cheek Palette for a long time – I was a very good girl because I saw this in Superdrug, DIDN’T buy it and then as I was still thinking about it the next time I went in I bought it as my reward for being good. Lol, I’m sure that’s how restraint works.

Out of Tanya’s make up and nails range the things I have loved the most have been the nail polishes – her formulas, colours and packaging have been on point and she has recently revamped them aswell and I’m a big fan of the new look range! I had never tried any of the palettes she has brought out and this was the one I had my eye on the most, so I thought I’d do a quick review on it!

tanya burr peachy glow

The thing I like the most about the palette first of all is how travel friendly it is – it’s light, it has a bronzer, highlight AND blush in one and it’s not too expensive so already it’s a worthwhile investment to add to your travel bag! This palette only costs £8 so it’s a bit of a bargain.

I quite like the simple packaging, it’s cute without being saccharine. It has a magnetic close I think, but even if it doesn’t they have got it just right. It has a nice, large mirror in it and you get a decent sized pan for all three of the powders.

tanya burr palette

When it comes to the actual formula of the powders, one thing I can definitely rave about is the pigmentation. You most definitely do not have to swirl your brush around in the blush to see it on your face. In fact, when I first tried this I literally touched my brush to the pan and then applied it to my face and there was enough product on it! (crazy)

So yep, you’ve got it, this palette may actually last you until you are 90 years old and resting your freshly manicured hands on your zimmerframe **what an image**

One thing I’m not massively keen on is that there is a lot of fall out with this powder. The shades are all beautiful – you have a bronzer called ‘Beach Bronze’, a blush called ‘Apricot Flush’ and a gorgeous highlight called ‘Champagne Shimmer’ *drools*. But when you do apply this with a brush, you have to tap off the excess product and there is ALOT. If you can get past this, you will be overwhelmed by the pigmentation and how blendable the powders are.

The highlight is lovely but it’s very finely milled like the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow (at a fraction of the price) and I’d say the CT one has a more ‘candlelit’ vibe about it.

Have you tried anything from Tanya’s make up range?

What Bronzers are best to Contour with? Lemme tell you!

Hello everyone!

Merry Sunday to you all, I hope you are relaxing and showing your lovely Mum some appreciation (and then continuing to do so even when it’s not Mother’s Day)

I wanted to give you guys a run down on the bronzer’s I’ve tried and the ways in which I use them the most! My favourite ever bronzer so far is the NARS Laguna – it’s the bronzer that I have ceremoniously hit pan on.

bronzer101

NARS Laguna is so versatile – you can use it for contouring (which is what I use it for most of the time), bronzing up your whole face, slimming down your neck, or like a transition eyeshadow shade. Laguna will probably be too dark for light skin tones but it is just right for me :).

It costs around £28 which is a lot but it’s definitely worth the money for staying power and pigmentation. Look at what a mess it is lol but I won’t chuck it until it’s all disintegrated…

nars laguna

This bronzer is 90% matte, it does have very tiny shimmer particles in it but you don’t really notice – AND it is so pigmented you don’t need very much of it to create some flattering shadow on your face!

The Esteé Lauder Bronze Goddess bronzer is massive – the compact is almost as big as my face! This bronzer is much more of a orangey undertoned bronzer. It’s very warm compared to the NARS Laguna, but it is still a great everyday bronzer to keep in your stash.

The Estée Lauder bronzer is £33 but again, you get a massive mirror and the product is worth it. This bronzer has larger shimmer particles in it than the NARS Laguna so if you want completely matte stay away from this.

bronze goddess estee lauder bronzer

Back to a more cool toned bronzer, you could try the Charlotte Tilbury Film Star Bronze and Glow which is in the most AMAZING luxurious packaging! The palette has a bronzer which is cool toned (I think I’ve got the Light version) and it has a finely milled champagne coloured highlight in there.

charlotte tilbury bronze and glow

It’s a powder that’s SO finely milled it kind of means it isn’t as glittery, it’s more shimmery than something like MAC Soft & Gentle (I think that’s actually a good thing though). It costs around £49, which is completely excessive so this is perfect for a gift, or a way to really spoil yourself. The sculpting powder is VERY good though, it doesn’t look like much in the pan but is perfect for contouring.

What are your favourite bronzers?!

My Top Lipsticks with Swatches! MAC, Nyx, Topshop…

Hi everyone!

If I’ve been a bit quiet on the blogging front I apologise – things are pretty darn busy round these parts. Today I have a new video to bring to your attention! I was inspired by Kaushal Beauty to film my own Lip Swatch video which features my favourite lipsticks within my collection so you can see what they look like on, the formula/colour pay off etc.

I found her video really useful as it gave me an idea of what the lipsticks look like on brown skin tones – this will show you what kind of undertone the lipstick has (it could have a blue undertone which makes teeth look whiter, or an orange undertone which is slightly harder to pull off)

I hope you enjoy watching! I’m pretty proud of this video as I tried to edit it to music a bit!

🙂

Thanks for watching/reading my words that I write

My Newest Obsession – Nyx Lip Cremes

Hey Everyone!

I have been wanting to try these for SUCH a long time and now I finally have them I am totally fan girling about them! So, the products I’ve been wanting to try for about a billion years are the Nyx Soft Matte Lip Creams. Lip CREAMS sound a bit weird don’t they, but if you are truly a beauty fan you will already know what these are.

I’ve heard so many bloggers and Youtubers raving about these and I can see why. Unfortunately, I now want the entire range but I was good and settled for two shades. I ordered them from Boots on Click and Collect last Saturday afternoon and picked them up from my local Boots on Sunday after midday (this is not a sponsored post I was just really impressed!).

nyx lip creme

The two shades I bought were ‘Transylvania’ (the dark one) and ‘Antwerp’. The one I think I was most excited about was Transylvania, because it is a VERY dark, almost black purple. It’s quite goth-y but I love it. I was so excited about it I filmed a Youtube tutorial with it a few hours after swatching it (if you’d like to see that then click the link below!)

Here is a swatch of ‘Transylvania’ on my hand!

nyx transylvania

The formula of these is great, it is VERY opaque, creamy and velvety – but it gives you just enough time to clean up around your lip line with a cotton bud to clean up any mishaps!

I love how dramatic this shade is and I hope to use this some more in the Winter!

The second shade I bought was ‘Antwerp’ which is a very bright coral-ly pink colour.

Here it is swatched on my hand! Really close too:

nyx antwerp

I haven’t actually put this on yet but I’m hoping it suits me! This is quite a bright pink so I’m thinking this should look nice really with a thin layer AND  thicker layer applied.

I’m so impressed with the formula of these and I can’t wait to use them more day to day.

Have you tried any of these? What shades am I missing out on? :’)

Thanks for reading guys,

Rosh xxx

June Favourites!

I know that June is well and truly done with but I thought it had been a while (approximately a month I believe) since I’ve done a good ol’ Monthly Favourites post!

There are four things in particular that I’ve been loving in June, which are mostly make up item – surprise, surprise

JUNFAVOURITES

After a pretty tough month with a lot going on there is one product that has saved my eye bags from turning into Tesco Bags for Life. I’ve been LOVING the Maybelline Instant Anti-Age ‘Eraser Eye’ concealer in the shade Nude. It’s a small tube of concealer with a weird puffy applicator at the top. Please note I had to turn the clicky thing around 100 times in order to get the first bit of product out but after that I was sold.

The coverage isn’t very high, BUT you don’t need it. It creates luminosity, making your eye area appear brighter and more awake, it does settle into lines a little bit but setting with a teensy bit of powder soon sorts this out. The applicator is nice as well, I tend to dab this on in an upside down triangle shape under my eyes (Thanks to Kaushal Beauty for that tip, check our her Youtube videos here!) and then blend out with a Real Techniques Contour Brush.

maybellineerasereye

Next I’ve been obsessed with my most recent MAC purchase. I have been wanting this product for a very long time, it is MAC’s Soft & Gentle Mineralise Skin Finish. This may possibly be the most beautiful highlighter I have ever seen! It is pretty flashy, so if you are using this day to day then please have a gentle hand! I love using this as a brow highlight, it also makes a pretty beautiful eyeshadow so it’s a bloody versatile little pot of gold.

macsoftandgentle

macsoftandgentle2

Next, I have been loving filling in my brows with the Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade in Ebony . This is one of those products where you have to be VERY light handed, also it helps to dab most of the product off in the lid before applying to the brows. Brushing through your brows with a spoolie first helps get the most defined brows, and I usually start at the end of the brow and slowly do gentle strokes with an angled brush like a MAC 263.

anastasiadipbrow

LASTLY! I have been really liking using the By Terry Ombre Blackstar (why does autocorrect put that as Backstair?!), the shade I have is called Misty Rock which has been RAVED about over tinternet. This is the most beautiful shimmery amethyst colour and it’s perfect for applying straight on the eyelid and then just blending out the edges. The glitter from this has true staying power, the consistency of the crayon is really soft and creamy so it blends LIKE A FRIVOLOUS DREAM.
