I had been wanting to try the OGX Niacin & Caffeine shampoo and conditioner ever since a picture of them popped up on my Instagram feed. I’m all up for anything hair related that stops breakage and encourages growth!
This is why I tried the range from OGX, but also why I started using the Lee Stafford Hair Treatment ‘For Hair that never grows past a Certain Length’. Though, I’m an eejit and forgot that it’s probably a good idea to use these two things separately to see which has a better result on my hair :/.
Anyway, I have been using the OGX Niacin & Caffeine shampoo and conditioner for about a week now and have been impressed with it so far! They were on promotion in Boots on a 2 for £10, but they have also been on promotion on a 3 for 2 as well! OGX do a third step product in this range which is a Root Stimulator Spray (I haven’t tried this yet).
I quite like OGX as a brand, I loved their Coconut Milk shampoo and conditioner range for the scent alone – but this is something new that really does claim to improve the condition of your hair.
The first thing I noticed when I started using it is the scent of this shampoo and conditioner. I did a Boots Haul Youtube video recently and I sniffed these in it and was amazed to find that they smelled like Red Bull. Like, wtf. I know these have ‘caffeine’ in but I never expected the range to smell like an energy drink, especially when their other ranges smell so good!
(BTW I hate Red Bull but am willing to set my olfactory differences aside for the benefit of my mop…for those of you who haven’t read the book Perfume that word means NOSE).
Smells aside, the shampoo is lovely – it’s quite a thick shampoo so this means a little goes a long way and you should be concentrating on your roots anyway. Apparently I have heard you shouldn’t actually need to shampoo the ends of your hair as the suds from your roots should run down and wash the ends of your hair anyway! If you shampoo your hair in a way where you aren’t knotting it up it also helps reduce breakage etc when you are brushing your hair after a shower.
The conditioner, again, is a very thick consistency and still has a hint of Red Bull about it. If this smell doesn’t incite memories of being hung over or being in Oceana (I’m looking at you, Vodbull Uni times) then you are well on your way to being a loyal user of this range.
The range feels very nourishing to use but in more of a scientific way. Stimulating the roots of your hair will definitely help with hair health and growth but I do think that my hair is in a better condition for using this range. I also love the Lee Stafford hair treatment being back in my life – it improves the condition of my hair SO MUCH and it has definitely helped the growth!
Here is my previous post earlier last year which shows you the before and after when I had my hair cut really short. I started using the Lee Stafford treatment and it had a really good effect on the growth of my hair!
Have you used this OGX range? Do YOU think it smells like Red Bull? Or is something wrong with me…
Thanks for reading, am about to go use this now 🙂
