MAC Prep + Prime Skin Base Review!!

MAC Prep & Prime

I’m not usually one to use a primer – my skin doesn’t tend to eat make up up which is a good thing, but in one of my more recent MAC mini hauls I received a little sample of the MAC Prep + Prime Skin Base. My sister had mentioned that she’d used it before but I imagine just from a sample like mine was.

I haven’t really used primer for foundation or bases as I don’t REALLY need it but I had wondered whether it made any difference!

As it’s become hotter in the summer months in the UK, of all places where I lose foundation/makeup it tends to be the forehead and mouth area. So I thought it was time to try this Prep + Prime sample!

This primer is an odd texture – it’s a white, kinda watery consistency but it still holds up as you apply. I’ve been putting this onto my moisturised skin, before foundation, on my forehead, nose, upper lip and cheek area (just under my eyes and next to my nose).

This only really feels like a classic primer at the point that you apply it – it’s silky and velvety and it feels really lovely. You can tell this should work quite well to keep your make up on longer because it sits on top of the skin but without feeling tacky or sticky.

Prep & Prime Sample

I’ve been saving using this for days where I’m going out and I want my make up to last. I’ve found that my foundation and concealer has definitely been going on better. I use a beauty blender to apply my foundation and concealer so that in itself makes a massive difference!

My make up has been lasting better, particularly when I use this under makeup on a night out and then use a fixing spray at the end of doing my make up. (The one I love at the moment is the NYX Finishing Spray!)

I think I would buy the full size but the only things that put me off are that it’s not an essential part of my make up routine and it would end up being a costly addition! (That I can’t really afford, lol).

Have you used MAC Prep + Prime before? What are your thoughts?

Lots of love,
