Let’s ignore the fact that I just had to google ‘Where is the hash on an apple keyboard’. Moving on…
I thought I might start a ‘Disappointing Products’ series, seeing as sometimes you buy things expecting them to be amazing and stay in your make up bag permanently, only to end up being sorely disappointed because they are a big pile of poo.
I have 4 products to review today, and these have been dug out of the murky depths of Roshni’s Make Up Abyss. It’s a dark place.
Here are the blighters:
1. Loréal Paris True Match Foundation in ‘Golden Beige’:
I bought this before I found the Bourjois Happy Light (see previous post), and I had heard good things about this foundation. Now, aside from the fact that I bought the complete wrong shade for my face (it’s way too light) what I hate is that it has lots of gold shimmer in it. Now, I don’t know about you but in the day time I don’t really like the disco ball look, I like my skin to look like skin. Also, it clearly does not match my skin. Now I know it come in different shades, so you are meant to be able to find the right one, but I found it hard to pick one that looked right. All in all, a fail on both levels.
2. Rimmel Scandal Eyes Eyeliner in ‘Taupe’:
This one is a tricky one. Simply because, I’m not too sure what I’m meant to do with this. OK I know it’s an eyeliner, to line eyes. I geddit. But this colour is odd because I thought it would be good for the waterline, however when I apply it, it just looks…like my waterline. This might be better for people with a paler skin tone than myself, but I’m still not seeing the benefit personally. Even when applying it at the lash line for example, it doesn’t show up very much, and is just a tad disappointing. More disappointing because I heard such good things about it, but it may just be that is isn’t suited to my skin tone.
3. Topshop Grunge Stick in ‘Go-Go’:
I was really chuffed with this when I bought it, and thought it would look great on a night out. I swatched it in store, and there it looked really nice and had a unique cool feeling when you apply it. The main problem I have with this is the coarse glitter in the formula. If this was a lighter shimmer I think it would be really nice, but it just seems a bit costume make up for me. Even with lots of blending I’m pretty sure I would just end up with lots of greeny silvery glitter all over my face. In principle, it seems like everything I would want from an eye product, but it did not live up to the hype :(.
4. Nyx Jumbo Eye Pencil in ‘Yogurt’:
This was probably the biggest disappointment for me, because I LOVE the colour. I don’t think it looks like Yogurt, Nyx, so get better names please. The stick itself is a great easy way to apply eyeshadow, and the consistency is really nice. Spoiler: This does not last very long without creasing. It finds those eye creases and sits in them within about 5 minutes. I have tried this with a spot of primer and it is slightly better, but not what you would want if you are wearing it all day. Another thing, I had to google (I’m not stupid I swear) how the hell do you get more of this product? Turns out it’s not a turny twisty stick, you have to sharpen it. It’s white plastic, WHO HAS A SHARPENER THAT CAN DO THAT. I had visions of hacking away at it with a knife, but obviously that is very dangerous and dumb. But Nyx, sort it ahht.
Here are swatchety swatches of these blighty blighters:
That is the round up 🙂 TIL NEXT SUNDAY.
