Next Teal My Thunder – Best Name Ever…

It has been SO LONG since I’ve posted a nail look on my blog!

Nail posts used to be my favourite actually – mostly because I love it when you get a really good picture showing the finish in a good light!

Next have a range of quite large, flat nail polishes which seem kind of new to me. I noticed them in store probably about 6 months ago and had been meaning to try some of them. I noticed some really quirky shades as well as the normal bright reds, pinks and golds.

One of the shades that caught my eye has an amazing name and an even more amazing colour! This shade is called ‘Teal My Thunder’ , ha ha ha. This name reminds me of the Friends episode where Rachel steals Monica’s thunder lol.

How to get Rose Gold Nails…

So, when I was browsing Youtube about a month ago I stumbled across an amazing video which was a ‘how to’ on chroming your nails, but so they turn out rose gold! I don’t know if chroming is an actual word but I’mma make it one.

I thought I’d write this up in case anyone wants to give it a go. You will need to buy a few things beforehand BUT the great thing is that you don’t need a UV lamp!

Here is what it looks like when it’s done!

The Unicorn Nail Varnish – ‘Leia’ by Zoya

zoya-nail-varnish-leia

I’d never heard of the brand Zoya before. But a little gander on the Beauty Bay website brought me a whole PAGE of Zoya’s to browse and this one, in this beautiful unicorn, mermaid-esque shade really caught my eye.

This is very white in the bottle, but when you move this bottle around in the light you get this iridescent, lilac toned glitter. It’s SO PRETTY and it catches the light and reminds you your nails look lovely! This looks great on longer nails – very chic and glamorous.

Liquid Bronze for Nails?! Whaaaaaa…

SO – Barry M have made me very happy, because their latest range of metal nail polishes are beautiful!

I am kinda feeling the days when I can wear moody dark purples and blues and blacks, but the Molten Metals Barry M polishes are still floating my boat for Summer! The shade I picked up was in Bronze Bae *shudder*, I detest the fact it is called that but you have to admit, this shade is gorgeous.

This polish is really pretty – it takes around two medium laden coats to get this nice and opaque but it really doesn’t take that long…AND it’s only £3.79, bargainous.

My Summer Pastels Manicure Routine!

Hi Guys!

I’ve got a really fun 3 minute video to bring to you today! 🙂

I get quite a few questions via Instagram and comments day to day about my nails and how I get them so shiny/decent looking, so I thought it was about time I show you what my nail routine looks like. I filmed a quick 3 minute video which you can click on below, it shows you my routine and the nail polish of choice was a beautiful mint pastel green from Nails Inc called ‘Belsize Lane’.

I had wanted to try something different and creative and if you scroll down the bottom of this post you will see what I had constructed in order to bring this little video to you – it’s mind blowing lol.

Leave me a comment if you’d like and give the video a like if you enjoyed it! I was pretty chuffed with this video so I really hope you enjoy it.

Btw, THIS is how I filmed this video :’)

‘Brooklyn’ – Ciaté Nail Polish by Olivia Palermo

I have a pretty large collection of nail polishes and to be honest, alot of them sit on the bottom layer (not neatly either) crying out for a glimpse of daylight.

One of the poor little polishes I dug out of the depths was this shade called ‘Brooklyn’ from a limited edition Ciaté set that Olivia Palermo created with them – not specifically for me lol, I’d like to add! This polish came in the Ciaté Fashion Edit set which contains three other lovely shades as well.

Brooklyn Ciate Olivia Palermo

In the bottle, this shade looks beautiful! It’s a very warm toned dark purple (this is hard to describe but in the light it looks like a browny purple). The formula of these Ciaté polishes is questionable – I don’t think it’s fair to say that ALL of their polishes are like this because I don’t actually think that. These ones aren’t very good to be honest – they are very watery and sometimes when I’ve used these ones they take even FOUR FLIPPIN COATS to get a decent opacity (big word, right) 😉

Two years ago I actually bought myself the Ciaté Christmas Advent Calendar and the formula of these ones was amazing! But this range with Olivia Palermo I’m not as convinced because you have to work way too hard to get a normal standard of colour on your nails!

I really tried with this polish to get the opacity to the level it is in the picture above and don’t be fooled – that shine has come from my Trusty Seche Vite, not this polish. Lol, a real pity as it’s a lovely shade it just performs like a poo. P.S Three days on and it’s already chipped. Like. Fo’ real.

Anyway, I’m going to carry on listening to Arcade Fire now.

Bye for now!!

I love you all like a fat kid loves pop tarts

Barry M Gelly Nail Polish – Black Grape

I love a good nail polish and black is one of my favourite colours to wear as it looks so chic and clean. So imagine my elation when I see that Barry M have brought out a range of ‘Blacks’ which have slight tints to them – blues, purples and greens!! I have just discovered that this range is called ‘Midnight Gellies’ and that pleases me even more, haha.

I know we’ve been having amazing weather recently so to post about a black nail polish is a bit weird, but this is such a beautiful shade I couldn’t resist (plus if you were looking for something more summery take a look at my other Barry M review, it’ll be much more up your street!)

Barry M Gelly Nail Polish - Black Grape

The shade I am wearing in the picture above is called ‘Black Grape’ and it’s a gorgeous, glossy black with a hint of midnight blue running through it. I applied two coats and this really built up the black intensity but in certain lights you can see the blue undertone to it. I’d love to try the purple one as well as that would look gorge – particularly in Autumn!

Barry M - Black Grape

This is such a flattering colour and can help to elongate your nails if you have filed them into the right shape – I tend to keep the tip squared off and then round the edges a little to make sure I don’t maim someone.

What do you think to ‘Black Grape’?!

Barry M Gelly Nail Polish in ‘Blueberry’

Barry M Gelly Nail Polish - Blueberry

So, I’ll be honest with you. I wanted to buy something at the weekend. I’m trying not to spend money. I went to Boots. I took my Advantage card with me. I bought two nail polishes with the money what is points on a little plastic card. This equals a satisfied Roshni that Reviews.

Lol that’s not all of it, I had been looking at my nail polish like URGH YOU ALL DISGUST ME GET AWAY for a few weeks now and I needed a refresh. What better to match the BEEyootiful weather we have been having recently than a gorgeous blue that makes me think of the colour you use when you’re little and you want to draw the sky.

This is the shade ‘Blueberry’ from the Barry M Gelly range, which are nail polishes designed to give an amazing shiny finish reminiscent of gel polishes.

It’s the most lovely medium blue with a hint of lilac, it’s REALLY flattering (in my humble opinion) particularly if you have darker skin. Without looking too much like blue tack, it’s a very pretty (I want to say Periwinkle but that just sounds like something rude that’s been exposed in a Nandos) shade that I will be wearing a lot.

Barry M - Blueberry 2

If you have tried the Barry M Gelly nail polishes you will know that the formula of them is pretty special. They LOOK like Shellac or gels when used properly and I have definitely used the Gelly polishes before without top coats and they have been fine, just not lasted as long as when I do use one.

In the picture above I have used the Seche Vite top coat (click for link) – I’ve been through about 4 bottles of this in the past and so many people ask what I use so I point them in the direction of the good ol’ Seche Vite.

Squ-oval has been the shape of choice for me for a while now – I can’t stand sharp edges as I am convinced I will scratch a line down my face by accident and I prefer more of a square shape because this is more flattering for my hands (!)

All in all this was only two coats of ‘Blueberry’ and then a swipe of the Seche Vite top coat, within about a minute it was dry to touch and I could get on with my day!

Have you tried any of the shades from the Barry M Gelly range? I have bought another one so you will have to keep your eyes peeled for that one….:)

Thanks for reading, go enjoy the sunshine! If there is any where you are…

My Favourite Nail Looks Ever

Happy Easter weekend everyone!

I hope you are all enjoying a long weekend – I am most certainly making the most of it and will be getting as much sleep crammed into it as possible!

I wanted to take the opportunity to show you some of my most favourite nail looks ever…since having my blog (for over a year and a bit now) it basically means that I take pictures of everything *just incase*. So that means every time I do my nails, I always have picture upon picture of my mangled claw hand in case I want to blog about the look :).

Here are a few of my favourite nail looks that I’ve tried in the last few months – I will also name and link the products if you need them!

***ALL nail looks have been finished with a slick of Seche Vite over the top – you can’t beat it :)***

lilacism

The nail look above used Essie’s Lilacism which is a beautiful pale cool toned lilac, with a gold glitter over the top!

essie bordeaux and glitter

This nail look was great for Christmas – it used ‘Bordeaux’ again by Essie, and the same gold glitter!!

simply black

You can’t beat a slick, simple black nail look to really flatter your hands and keep it chic and minimalist. This was using Nails Inc Black Taxi nail polish!

strawberry pink

This final look uses Barry M’s Strawberry Ice Cream nail polish which is a lovely warm pink without being too sickly!

Which is your favourite look?

Happy Easter everyone!

BTW don’t forget to check out my Boots haul video, let’s see if we can get to 25 likes!

My Essie Nail Polish Collection

Hi all!

I hope you are having a great week so far – you have got over hump day anyway so don’t worry the weekend is in sight now.

I’ve got back into the mood with painting my nails recently, I had some gel polish on and as soon as it grew out I was instantly disgusted and had to soak *peel* them off. I can’t stand it when there is a growing out gap it makes me feel a bit *bleurgh* so I took them off and began to browse my polish collection!

Noticing I had grown a small yet respectable collection of Essie nail polishes, I decided I would share them with you so you can see my favourite shades.

essie collection3

Essie polishes are great quality – the packaging is nice, they usually come with a big fat wide brush which makes application really easy and they have an amazing range of colours. They usually cost around £7.99 and they do tend to have 3 for 2 offers in Boots etc so they are a bit more expensive, but worth it.

essie collection

You will see that there are two colours that look very similar above – I can say that I don’t think they are very similar on the nail, but maroon burgundy colours are one of my favourite kind of polishes.

From left to right you have, Aruba Blue, Sugar Daddy, Skirting the Issue, Lilacism, Cute As A Button and Bordeaux. Skirting the Issue and Bordeaux are quite similar in the bottle, but Skirting the Issue is such a dark, deep burgundy that it is almost black (which I really like). Bordeaux is more of a reddy browny shade that pays off a bit lighter in colour.

Aruba Blue is the most GORGEOUS blue, it’s the kind of blue that you imagine an other worldly sea would look like. It’s shimmery and smooth, but the colour easily goes on opaque with one coat. I’d recommend this to anyone with darker skin tones as it looks really pretty on (which you can see here!)

Cute As a Button (bright pink) is the first Essie polish I tried *you can read that review here* and I still really like it – it’s quite a bright coral pink but very flattering and perfect for summer.

Sugar Daddy is a more ‘french manicure’ type of polish. It’s no where near as pigmented as the colour you get in the bottle – I pretty much use this as a top coat when I can’t be bothered to have proper colour on my nails. It’s still good but not my favourite! Also the name makes me cringe big time. Maybe that’s why I’m not as keen lol.

Lilacism is a bit of a wild card – it’s pastelly and lilacy and gorgeous from the bottle – it looks quite light but you’d be surprised at how flattering this is. It really is very pretty, perfect for spring and summer and really helps to brighten up your hands. I reviewed this after I bought it (which was a while ago, you can read it by clicking here!)

That’s my little modest collection of Essie polishes for you, are there any you have tried that I should buy ? **I mean research?**

Thanks for reading, as ever!

Lots of love,
Roshni xxx
