90’s Matte Make Up Tutorial!

Hello guys!

I am so excited to show you this tutorial!! – I filmed a 90’s brown toned make up tutorial, with the main star of the show being the Nyx Liquid Suede lipstick in the shade ‘Vintage’ which is a gorgeous dark brown shade. Give it a watch if you want to see how to get this look! It’s really quick and easy 🙂

The eyes have a mix of matte shadows to add to the 90’s feel of the look – I really love this and think it’s perfect for day or night time.

I hope you enjoy it!!

Thanks for reading/watching/being in my internet space

The Best Concealer Combo Ever

For some parts of my make up routine, there are some staple products that have been on the bill for a very long time – not the stars of the show, but ever present supporting acts that are the ones holding up the whole thing.

The two concealers I want to show my respect for are the Maybelline Anti Age Eraser Eye concealer and the Maybelline Fit Me concealer. *no don’t worry this isn’t an ad, these are the two concealers that have lived in my make up drawers for a very long time!* With concealers, I’d say these are part of your make up routine where if you find the right products for the job, you don’t really chop and change them too much. This is why I’ve found what I like and I’ve stuck to it!

concealers

The Maybelline Anti Age Eraser Eye concealer is a little twist up concealer that only costs around £5.99! This is such a bargain and it lasts forever. The shade I use is ‘Nude’ I think, because this is the darkest shade that they do. They only really have three shades, but the one I use it perfect for highlighting and concealing.

This concealer has a little sponge tip applicator – I have heard a lot of people saying that they hate the little sponge applicator saying that it is unhygienic and harbours germs, but I’m not that bothered about the sponge. If anything, it’s only me that uses it so why would it be a problem?! I don’t use the sponge to blend it out, I just use my usual Real Techniques contour brush to gently dab the concealer into a flawless layer.

The thing I liked most about this concealer is that once you have set it with a powder it doesn’t budge. The powder I use is amazing and pretty affordable – it’s the Revlon photo ready powder.

The Maybelline Fit Me in the shade 20 is very good for adding a bit more coverage. I tend to layer these two because the combination makes my concealer last a lot longer and it brightens the area a lot more than just using one on its own. All I need to do with these two is to apply the Eraser Eye concealer via the sponge tip and then smooth over a small amount of the Fit Me concealer, then dab it all out with the contour brush. After this, setting with a light dusting (lol sounds like baking) of the Revlon powder means your concealer will last ALL DAY. WINNING.

What are your favourite concealers?

Happy Easter everyone!

My Favourite Nail Looks Ever

Happy Easter weekend everyone!

I hope you are all enjoying a long weekend – I am most certainly making the most of it and will be getting as much sleep crammed into it as possible!

I wanted to take the opportunity to show you some of my most favourite nail looks ever…since having my blog (for over a year and a bit now) it basically means that I take pictures of everything *just incase*. So that means every time I do my nails, I always have picture upon picture of my mangled claw hand in case I want to blog about the look :).

Here are a few of my favourite nail looks that I’ve tried in the last few months – I will also name and link the products if you need them!

***ALL nail looks have been finished with a slick of Seche Vite over the top – you can’t beat it :)***

lilacism

The nail look above used Essie’s Lilacism which is a beautiful pale cool toned lilac, with a gold glitter over the top!

essie bordeaux and glitter

This nail look was great for Christmas – it used ‘Bordeaux’ again by Essie, and the same gold glitter!!

simply black

You can’t beat a slick, simple black nail look to really flatter your hands and keep it chic and minimalist. This was using Nails Inc Black Taxi nail polish!

strawberry pink

This final look uses Barry M’s Strawberry Ice Cream nail polish which is a lovely warm pink without being too sickly!

Which is your favourite look?

Happy Easter everyone!

BTW don’t forget to check out my Boots haul video, let’s see if we can get to 25 likes!

Nyx Liquid Suede Matte Lipsticks – A Revelation!

Oh myyy goodness – I have been so excited to review these products!

A common theme throughout the past few weeks is that things I have seen popping up on my Instagram feed have been making their way into my shopping basket, be it physical or virtual (and I have paid for them, no pilfering going on around here).

The two shades I picked up in the Nyx Liquid Suede Cream Lipsticks are beautiful. I bought the shades Soft Spoken and Vintage. Soft Spoken is a beautiful pinky brown and Vintage is a more deep 90’s brown which is AMAZING. Vintage in particular is so on trend that it almost pains me. Expect to see a lot of Instagram pics of these filling up my feed!

I already love both of these liquid lipsticks and everything about them is perfect…

Nyx Liquid Suede Lipsticks

NYX LIQUID SUEDE LIPSTICK SWATCHES SOFT SPOKEN VINTAGE

They are pretty affordable – you can buy these for £6.50 and you get a lot for your money. The formula of the liquid lipsticks is thick and velvety, they apply really nicely because the doe foot applicator is just the right shape to outline and fill in your lips really neatly. *not so fun fact, I thought Doe Foot was actually a specific name for the applicator like Dauphort but then I realised in a D’oh moment*

Soft Spoken Nyx Liquid Suede Lipstick

The staying power of these liquid lipsticks is insane. I wore Soft Spoken ALL day today and although I could feel my lips become a tiny bit drier than usual it wasn’t anywhere near uncomfortable. I drank several teas (lol) and although I saw some product come off onto the mug like a trendy half smile, you couldn’t tell from looking at me that any had moved from my lips.

Vintage Nyx Liquid Suede Lipstick

I think if you are buying one of these I would always opt for the more nude shades where it doesn’t matter if it’s not crisp round the edges. They have bright reds and purples within this range but I’m not sure this formula is the best way to wear those colours.

I’m really happy with these liquid lipsticks and I can’t wait to wear them all the time!

OGX Niacin3 & Caffeine Shampoo and Conditioner

I had been wanting to try the OGX Niacin & Caffeine shampoo and conditioner ever since a picture of them popped up on my Instagram feed. I’m all up for anything hair related that stops breakage and encourages growth!

This is why I tried the range from OGX, but also why I started using the Lee Stafford Hair Treatment ‘For Hair that never grows past a Certain Length’. Though, I’m an eejit and forgot that it’s probably a good idea to use these two things separately to see which has a better result on my hair :/.

Anyway, I have been using the OGX Niacin & Caffeine shampoo and conditioner for about a week now and have been impressed with it so far! They were on promotion in Boots on a 2 for £10, but they have also been on promotion on a 3 for 2 as well! OGX do a third step product in this range which is a Root Stimulator Spray (I haven’t tried this yet).

ogx niacin and caffeine

I quite like OGX as a brand, I loved their Coconut Milk shampoo and conditioner range for the scent alone – but this is something new that really does claim to improve the condition of your hair.

The first thing I noticed when I started using it is the scent of this shampoo and conditioner. I did a Boots Haul Youtube video recently and I sniffed these in it and was amazed to find that they smelled like Red Bull. Like, wtf. I know these have ‘caffeine’ in but I never expected the range to smell like an energy drink, especially when their other ranges smell so good!

(BTW I hate Red Bull but am willing to set my olfactory differences aside for the benefit of my mop…for those of you who haven’t read the book Perfume that word means NOSE).

Smells aside, the shampoo is lovely – it’s quite a thick shampoo so this means a little goes a long way and you should be concentrating on your roots anyway. Apparently I have heard you shouldn’t actually need to shampoo the ends of your hair as the suds from your roots should run down and wash the ends of your hair anyway! If you shampoo your hair in a way where you aren’t knotting it up it also helps reduce breakage etc when you are brushing your hair after a shower.

The conditioner, again, is a very thick consistency and still has a hint of Red Bull about it. If this smell doesn’t incite memories of being hung over or being in Oceana (I’m looking at you, Vodbull Uni times) then you are well on your way to being a loyal user of this range.

The range feels very nourishing to use but in more of a scientific way. Stimulating the roots of your hair will definitely help with hair health and growth but I do think that my hair is in a better condition for using this range. I also love the Lee Stafford hair treatment being back in my life – it improves the condition of my hair SO MUCH and it has definitely helped the growth!

Here is my previous post earlier last year which shows you the before and after when I had my hair cut really short. I started using the Lee Stafford treatment and it had a really good effect on the growth of my hair!

Have you used this OGX range? Do YOU think it smells like Red Bull? Or is something wrong with me…

Thanks for reading, am about to go use this now 🙂

Who started the Matte Revolution?!

So, if you are aware of any beauty or make up trends you will know that the biggest trend of this year so far is matte lips. In fact, I think it’s possible that matte anything is all the rage at the moment! This to me is a pretty weird trend and I think that Kylie Jenner is the root cause of it all.

You’ll all know this now, Kylie Jenner had cosmetic improvements to her face and lips to basically, look like a completely different (and to her, more beautiful) person. This change she made has spawned a business idea – it was furled up into a little roll, put into the barrel of a gun and blown into the beauty arena with tremendous power. We all know the Kardashian-Jenners are all into money: making money, spending money and talking about money.

So it all makes sense that the big business Kylie has started to build is all about matte lips!

nude matte revolution post

The weird thing I find about matte lips as a trend is that I haven’t seen THAT much of it on the runways. (I may have been missing something here, if I have someone please enlighten me)

Even weirder, I think it’s actually a pretty uncomfortable beauty trend. Matte lips are not comfortable to wear.

They are drying, they showcase the coolest undertones (some of which are so sepia toned they just look dead) and it can require a lot of effort for day to day. We aren’t like the Kardashians and we don’t have people to come blow dry our hair, or apply our make up to go to the shops lol.

Yet, Kylie’s cottoned on to the power of social and the press and she has managed to create Kylie Lip Kits that consist of a lip liner and a matte liquid lipstick in nude colours that are selling out everywhere! Other brands have pre-empted this and seen the opportunity – right off the top of my head I can name Kat Von D, Nyx, Colourpop, LA Girl, Revlon and Stila as brands that have created matte lip options to let you nail this trend affordably. **Shown above are the NYX Liquid Suedes, if you want to take a look you can buy them here, I will be reviewing them for you soon**

This was kind of a little post to discuss the trend and how weird it is – it’s not a rant, it’s not a suggestion, it’s more of a – ‘look how powerful trends can be when you have access to the right tools, and means discussion’.

What are your thoughts on the matte lips trend? Do you like it? Do you wear it?

P.S. I’m not saying I won’t try it because I will – even if it means investing in tonnes of moisturising lip balms…

Tanya Burr’s Peachy Glow Cheek Palette

I have been wanting to try this Tanya Burr Peachy Glow Cheek Palette for a long time – I was a very good girl because I saw this in Superdrug, DIDN’T buy it and then as I was still thinking about it the next time I went in I bought it as my reward for being good. Lol, I’m sure that’s how restraint works.

Out of Tanya’s make up and nails range the things I have loved the most have been the nail polishes – her formulas, colours and packaging have been on point and she has recently revamped them aswell and I’m a big fan of the new look range! I had never tried any of the palettes she has brought out and this was the one I had my eye on the most, so I thought I’d do a quick review on it!

tanya burr peachy glow

The thing I like the most about the palette first of all is how travel friendly it is – it’s light, it has a bronzer, highlight AND blush in one and it’s not too expensive so already it’s a worthwhile investment to add to your travel bag! This palette only costs £8 so it’s a bit of a bargain.

I quite like the simple packaging, it’s cute without being saccharine. It has a magnetic close I think, but even if it doesn’t they have got it just right. It has a nice, large mirror in it and you get a decent sized pan for all three of the powders.

tanya burr palette

When it comes to the actual formula of the powders, one thing I can definitely rave about is the pigmentation. You most definitely do not have to swirl your brush around in the blush to see it on your face. In fact, when I first tried this I literally touched my brush to the pan and then applied it to my face and there was enough product on it! (crazy)

So yep, you’ve got it, this palette may actually last you until you are 90 years old and resting your freshly manicured hands on your zimmerframe **what an image**

One thing I’m not massively keen on is that there is a lot of fall out with this powder. The shades are all beautiful – you have a bronzer called ‘Beach Bronze’, a blush called ‘Apricot Flush’ and a gorgeous highlight called ‘Champagne Shimmer’ *drools*. But when you do apply this with a brush, you have to tap off the excess product and there is ALOT. If you can get past this, you will be overwhelmed by the pigmentation and how blendable the powders are.

The highlight is lovely but it’s very finely milled like the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow (at a fraction of the price) and I’d say the CT one has a more ‘candlelit’ vibe about it.

Have you tried anything from Tanya’s make up range?

My Current Fool Proof Skin Care Routine

current skincare

I am really happy with my skin care routine at the moment – it’s been the best routine for making sure spots stay away, keeping my skin glowing and making my foundation apply better. I try to stick to it as much as possible, consistency is a great way of making sure your skin doesn’t break out – knowing your skin well is the best way to tailor a skincare routine to it.

My skin care routine is split into Daytime and Night time 😀

DAYTIME

Firstly, I have to have moisturised lips using the Nivea moisturising cream – it’s a firm favourite and habit that I have inherited from my mum, we’ve always had a pot in our house since I was little!

Then I apply my eye cream which is the Body Shop Nutriganics Smoothing Eye Cream. This comes in a little pump dispenser, I love applying this to wake me up in the morning as it is feels cold when you smooth it on! I use my in finger to gently dab this in, then just let it sink in. After this I use the Body Shop Vitamin E Face mist and I spritz my face around 3 -4 times. This is just an extra layer of moisture as my skin is quite dry – it really needs as much moisture as it can get! I use the Benefit Total Moisture cream just incase I have any dry patches like around my nose or cheeks.

My main facial moisturiser of choice is the Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief gel cream which is ALL THE MOISTURE. It’s so good, I am on my third (?) pot of this now – seriously it lasts for like 6 months at a time and I use it erryday. At this point, my skin has had enough time to let all the moisturiser sink before applying make up!

NIGHT TIME

nighttime

After an evening shower I use the Nivea Cream, apply the Nutriganics Eye Cream and then I usually mix a blob of the Body Shop Drops of Youth Bouncy Sleeping Mask and the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate together to kind of make a power night cream which is full of all the good stuff – this I do every few days rather than every day as I don’t want to use up my Kiehl’s all in one go! (is expense, yo).

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading my newest (and best) skincare routine, have you used any of these products?

My Essie Nail Polish Collection

Hi all!

I hope you are having a great week so far – you have got over hump day anyway so don’t worry the weekend is in sight now.

I’ve got back into the mood with painting my nails recently, I had some gel polish on and as soon as it grew out I was instantly disgusted and had to soak *peel* them off. I can’t stand it when there is a growing out gap it makes me feel a bit *bleurgh* so I took them off and began to browse my polish collection!

Noticing I had grown a small yet respectable collection of Essie nail polishes, I decided I would share them with you so you can see my favourite shades.

essie collection3

Essie polishes are great quality – the packaging is nice, they usually come with a big fat wide brush which makes application really easy and they have an amazing range of colours. They usually cost around £7.99 and they do tend to have 3 for 2 offers in Boots etc so they are a bit more expensive, but worth it.

essie collection

You will see that there are two colours that look very similar above – I can say that I don’t think they are very similar on the nail, but maroon burgundy colours are one of my favourite kind of polishes.

From left to right you have, Aruba Blue, Sugar Daddy, Skirting the Issue, Lilacism, Cute As A Button and Bordeaux. Skirting the Issue and Bordeaux are quite similar in the bottle, but Skirting the Issue is such a dark, deep burgundy that it is almost black (which I really like). Bordeaux is more of a reddy browny shade that pays off a bit lighter in colour.

Aruba Blue is the most GORGEOUS blue, it’s the kind of blue that you imagine an other worldly sea would look like. It’s shimmery and smooth, but the colour easily goes on opaque with one coat. I’d recommend this to anyone with darker skin tones as it looks really pretty on (which you can see here!)

Cute As a Button (bright pink) is the first Essie polish I tried *you can read that review here* and I still really like it – it’s quite a bright coral pink but very flattering and perfect for summer.

Sugar Daddy is a more ‘french manicure’ type of polish. It’s no where near as pigmented as the colour you get in the bottle – I pretty much use this as a top coat when I can’t be bothered to have proper colour on my nails. It’s still good but not my favourite! Also the name makes me cringe big time. Maybe that’s why I’m not as keen lol.

Lilacism is a bit of a wild card – it’s pastelly and lilacy and gorgeous from the bottle – it looks quite light but you’d be surprised at how flattering this is. It really is very pretty, perfect for spring and summer and really helps to brighten up your hands. I reviewed this after I bought it (which was a while ago, you can read it by clicking here!)

That’s my little modest collection of Essie polishes for you, are there any you have tried that I should buy ? **I mean research?**

Thanks for reading, as ever!

Lots of love,
Roshni xxx
