Mini Haul #4 – Miss Selfridge, Benefit, Accessorise

Here is a mini haul for you :), to give you some inspiration for shopping (call me an enabler). It had been a while since I went clothes shopping (I think) and I picked up a few key pieces to take me from winter into spring, as well as a few extra things!

Firstly I went to Miss Selfridge, and bought this lovely chenille jumper in a blushed pink colour:

Here is a close up so you can see JUST HOW SOFT IT IS:

The jumper is cropped, so this moves me nicely onto my next purchase which was from River Island. I bought two long vest tops, so that I could wear one under this jumper without looking like a weird child:

I was also on the look out for some low heeled, black ankle boots and headed to the most suitable place, which was New Look. They do great quality shoes and they are always so reasonably priced! I think these were £24.99, so not too bad and I know they will last me a long time. I loved these boots the moment I saw them, the gold buckles make them stand out without being too blingy:

Next up was jewellery, so I popped to the holy grail which is Accessorise and had a sneaky look in the up to 70% off section. I picked up this gorgeous necklace which I actually think goes quite well with the jumper I picked up from Miss Selfridge! I really like that it’s not too blingy, but stands out and looks quite elegant. My mum’s opinion is the standard ‘it’s not blingy enough’ but half the things she wears a magpie would turn its nose up at. This was £5, down from £19! Bargain!

I bought another statement necklace from Dorothy Perkins that is a much more beady statement necklace, but will look great with a plain top or dress. I like how it looks like it’s from Egypt, with all the Cleopatra type colours. I’ve been a right floozy with my buying recently, buying only one thing from each shop!

The last thing I bought was a bit of a treat, I had nipped into Boots and had been on the hunt for a good highlighter (either powder or cream form). I had been eyeing up the Benefit ‘Girl Meets Pearl’ highlighter for a while and decided to take the plunge and pick it up. I have been using this dabbed onto the high points of my cheekbones, it’s really subtle and adds a slightly golden sheen. I get the feeling this is going to last me a long time too, as a couple of clicks gives you enough for one application!

Have you been hauling anything recently? (I love reading people’s haul posts)

Which is your favourite item from this haul? 🙂

Thanks for reading!

Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate

Hello Everyone!

I have a review post for you today, for the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate that I picked up from Space NK last month. I had seen this in a lot of pamper routines on Youtube, and had heard even more about it on the internets :p. I was intrigued, because usually I wouldn’t really go for an oil or oil based product for my skin and I wanted to give it a go.

This oil is meant to restore health and glow to the skin, pretty much overnight, providing a dramatic difference in the health of your skin. This is quite a claim! I started using this at night (duh) a few weeks ago and have to say I don’t think it’s an every day product. I like the scent, it’s not too overpowering and actually is quite a nice smell to have around (questionable wording there) just before bed time, especially after a bath or shower.

The bottle itself has a little pipette built into the lid which I think is a great idea. I can’t think of a better way to dispense this product, especially as it’s an oil and it reminds me of playing with pipettes back in science lessons (embarrassing).

I tend to spread a line of this oil onto the inside of my forefinger and the two fingers next to them, and rub it against my palms to warm the oil up before I apply it to my face. I make sure this is well rubbed into my skin, also making sure to apply it to my neck as well. Luckily this oil isn’t too greasy on the skin, don’t get me wrong you can easily apply too much of this, and even at the right amount you can see a hint of it on the surface.

I think a dramatic difference overnight is a bit of an over egged claim, I think it has helped to keep my skin looking fresh and blowy but not necessarily improved it a massive amount. I have to say it definitely hasn’t moisturised as much as I thought it would, and have found myself reaching for my night cream for areas that are particularly troublesome.

Overall, I think I will be using this on nights where I think that my skin needs to be soothed with something more natural based, rather than using it when my skin looks bad. There is something quite luxurious feeling about using this product, I can’t quite put my finger/pipette on it, but it feels really lovely to apply.

Have any of you guys used this product? Or anything else from the Kiehl’s range?

Thank you for reading 🙂

100 Followers! You lot are good to me…

100 followers feature
*for anyone who asks this is just to represent how happy I am at 100 followers, don’t add up the 100 from each circle or you’ll be raining on my parade :p

Hi! So, on Friday I hit 100 followers!

I got a happy little ping on my WordPress app (I genuinely think that sound is my most favourite sound in the world) to say there are 100 of you lovely people out there who are still remotely interested in the words that I string together in my brain.

This made me very happy, to know that there are actual real life people reading this out there is really fulfilling, as I know the internet is saturated with fledgling beauty blogs and the competition is tough. I’d like to say thank you for actually interacting with the posts and liking, because that obviously tells me what you prefer reading and what you aren’t keen on!

What I love the most, is that when I get a new follower I genuinely do go, check out their blog and find it so inspiring to see how well other beauty bloggers are doing and everyone is always so supportive. People of older generations often talk about the internet as a dangerous thing, I guess some places are but I do feel like the blogging community is generally very helpful to newbies like me!

Since properly getting into blogging routine in December, I am really excited for the next few months, so keep your wing liner-ed eyes peeled for more gripping content! (I write about the important things in life yo).

Thank you again for reading!

Barry M Speedy Quick Dry Nail Polish – ‘Kiss Me Quick’

A few days ago I posted my Boots Mini Haul #3 where I picked up this Barry M pastel pink ‘Quick Dry’ shade (Kiss Me Quick). Generally I’m not too keen on having light colours on my nails and I opt for more dark, purpley burgundy shades. As it is moving more towards spring I’m just going for colours that I like in the bottle, turns out that I actually quite like the way this looks!

I described it to someone at work as ‘a bit Nicki Minaj’ on me, as my skin is brown and bright/pastel colours can look very striking. I guess the main selling point about this nail polish is the ‘quick dry’, for me that isn’t really something I need because I religiously use Seche Vite on top of any nail polish I use.

On first application, this nail polish is the exact opposite of what you want. It’s streaky, thin and blotchy. Then, if you wait for a few seconds for that to dry a little and apply the second coat and it takes on a brilliantly shiny and opaque finish. I found that a third coat was plenty for it to look pastel-ly and very professional!

Obviously the thing you guys all want to know about is if it is, in fact, QUICK DRYING. Well, I have to say I am actually really impressed. It does dry much quicker than usual polishes, but because you have to layer the coats it is still vulnerable to smudging as most polishes are. I think for me, the colour is the most attractive thing about it and the fact that it dries a bit quicker than normal polishes less of a selling point.

OH MY GOODNESS because I took the images for this post the other day I forgot about the thing that made me have a grump. Right, you see the black checkered lid? Well, don’t open the nail polish if you have warm hands. That colour will transfer onto your skin, and this really frustrated me because the polish itself is great, to have such poor cheap packaging disappointed me.

Look at the damage below:

What do you guys think? Have you tried any of these polishes?

Boots! – Mini Haul #3

Wow, I can’t believe I have only gone up to #3 of my Mini Haul posts on this blog. I think what happens is that I buy a few things and get too excited to use them…so I forget to Mini Haul them :(.

I popped to Boots to pick up a new Soap & Glory Brow Archery as mine had run out and I got accidentally on purpose side tracked by a few beautiful things as I made my way through the aisles. I’m going to give you a brief tour through the carrier baggy bliss that is my most recent Boots haul 🙂 enjoy!

You can see that even though I repurchased that Soap & Glory Brow Archery, I actually forgot to include it in this haul as my brain must have deemed it a boring part of the haul (oops).

The first things I picked up were some false eyelashes, which were on special offer 3 for 2. Usually I go for the really natural lashes as I have quite naturally long eyelashes anyway. This time I thought I’d branch out and get the ‘Banging Beauty’ (what an atrocious name), ‘Lightweight Eyelure No 101’ and the ‘Feline Fierce’ (marginally better name) from the Katy Perry Range.

I’m looking forward to trying these out to see how extreme they look!

The next thing I picked up is probably my favourite, it was a Barry M ‘Bold Blue’ Waterproof Eyeliner, which is simply the most BEAUTIFUL colour it makes my heart squeeze. I tried it out and fell in love with it instantly, I have included a picture for you to see as well.

Ahhhh it’s so pretty!

There is a really lovely metallic shimmer to this shade and although the pencil is quite dark to look at when you apply it to your waterline it actually comes off a lot lighter. The formula is great as it is really soft and it can stand me rubbing my eyes (which I tend to do quite a lot) and it didn’t budge!

The next thing that I spotted was a Barry M nail polish in a lovely marshmallowy, soft baby pink colour, but it also said ‘Quick Dry’ on the bottle. I was intrigued, as I usually don’t worry about nail polish drying times as I have my trusty Seche Vite to fall back on. I thought this was worth a shot, so I’ll update you in due course. I do love the colour and think this will look great as it nears springtime. The shade is called ‘Kiss Me Quick’, had I gone shopping last week it could have been in a Valentines haul!

The next item I picked was the influence of a lovely blogger and Youtuber called Kaushul (Kaushul Beauty). She uses a really affordable Natural Collections eyeshadow in ‘Crushed Walnut’ as a cheekbone contour, so I thought I would give it a go. It’s only £1.99 so it’s definitely more affordable than a fancy bronzer, it is a very cool toned dark brown, so again I will update you once I have tried this out! I don’t like a harsh contour and to be honest I’m not very good at it so we’ll see how I get on…

The last thing I picked up was the new Colour Band eyeshadow sticks by Bourjois. I heard about these after watching a Lily Pebbles Youtube video, where she had picked up the dark brown and pinky beige colour. I was tempted to buy the brown but already have similar eyeshadow sticks so I picked up the jet black instead. This apparently is a two in one eyeliner and eyeshadow stick, so I’ve got high hopes for this. This has no shimmer in it, it is a simply VERY BLACK soft shadow stick, that looks really great to be blended in. I might do a little tutorial or post on this if you guys would be interested? 🙂

OK so I have just realised how long this post is…oops!

I hope you enjoyed reading 🙂 have you tried any of these products?

Looking forward to Spring – Ciaté Sherbet Fizz

I have a very simple, but VERY bright nail look to bring to you today. I’m really looking forward to spring, being able to come home from work in the light and seeing flowers and blossom around in the world (could I be any more of a stereotype right now).

I got about a million and one Ciaté nail polishes at Christmas in the Advent Calendar, and the only nail polish I haven’t tried was ‘Sherbet Fizz’. It didn’t seem right to crack this one out at Christmas as it is quite a corally, pinky red which reminds me of tulips and sticks of rock!

As with the rest of the Ciaté nail polishes, it works best if you apply a very thin first coat, then build up the opacity in the second or maybe third coats :).

The name ‘Sherbet Fizz’ is really fitting for this polish, not sure if you can see some of the shimmer in the bottle but there are some little golden flecks running through out it.

Compared to the rest of the Ciaté polishes, I think this one doesn’t tend to last as long without fading (even with a layer of Seche Vite over the top). In spite of that, it is a really beautiful colour and makes me look forward to sun and barbecues and…MORE SUN.

I really like how this looks on a ‘squ-oval’ shaped nail, it’s a really pretty shade and because it’s quite corally it is bang on trend.

The Skincare Range I Hope They Never Discontinue…

I had never really used a lot of Clinique products before this range, I only discovered the ‘Take The Day Off’ cleansing balm in the last couple of years (it’s still not finished yet, that product lasts forever!)

About 3-4 months ago I decided to try a more high end moisturiser because I have always had very dry skin throughout most of my life. I heard about the Clinique ‘Moisture Surge’ skincare range, so these words moisture (and surge) made me very excited. I tried the ‘Extended Thirst Relief’ moisturiser, which is essentially a gel cream formula that feels SO luxurious to use I would end up putting on a little more than I actually need just to enjoy it sinking in.

I ended up repurchasing the moisturiser recently, but my order qualified for a free sample set, that made me very happy indeed!

The set came in a great mini silvery mesh make up bag, which is no where near big enough to fit my make up in but will be great for travelling. I got sample sizes of the same moisturiser, the eye cream, a mask and a tinted moisturiser.

Starting with the Moisture Surge extended thirst relief gel cream (woah that is a mouthful), I have obviously already tried it and LOVE this stuff. It keeps even MY desert dry skin hydrated all day, and was a real saviour in the winter. Although you’d assume you might want something lighter in spring I actually think this moisturiser would be fine to carry on using as it is a gel based formula, so will still be really light. I’m going to use this for when I’m travelling so I don’t have to take my large pot with me :).

This eye cream is oddly a different colour and consistency to the rest of the range, but still has a beautiful cooling effect. I pat this round my eye area with the paddy bit of my ring finger, and although it is slightly more tacky feeling than the gel facial cream, it still feels lovely and hydrates the eye area.

If anyone wants to know I have the newest Space.NK magazine as my backdrop 🙂

NOW, this stuff is bloody brilliant. It is an overnight mask version of the cream, and what I have found is my favourite way to use this, is if I ever have a dry patch of skin, or a particularly problem area this works best as an overnight treatment. I find that targeting areas with this is much better than applying it all over (plus it is only a teeny tiny sample tube so this works nicely). As you would assume, this is much thicker than the gel cream but still feels gorgeous when applying to the skin.

This brings me to the final product in the sample set, which is this tinted moisturiser. I haven’t actually used this yet, and feel a bit apprehensive as most of the tinted moisturiser samples. or foundation samples I have used usually do not suit my darker skin tone and are suited mostly to very fair skin tones. Now, this one says it is for ‘All skin types’ but we will have to see as I am very sceptical…I will keep you updated! Very curious to see what the formula is like as well.

I hope you enjoyed reading this…what is your favourite moisturiser?

(I can keep my options open for when my massive pot of moisture surge runs out!)

The Top 5 Beauty Instagrammers

Hello Everyone!

I hope you are having a lovely weekend so far AND a brilliant romantic Valentines day <3. It’s not the nicest weather today, am sitting looking outside and the sky is grey and it’s really chilly.

What better to browse while you have an afternoon cup of tea than my list of the top 5 Instagrammers for all things fashion and beauty :):

Here is the run down!

I LOVE scrolling through my Instagram feed and seeing a post from this account pop up. Most importantly, although they post great photos of make up looks and close ups, they post short vines of how to certain make up looks. Check out their account to see brilliant smokey eyes, bold lips and making drawing eyeliner seem like a piece of cake!

The creators of the infamous Real Techniques make up brushes, Sam and Nic Chapman have a great Instagram account where they post pictures of looks they have worn to awards dos or press releases, updates on their brushes line and general VERY IMPORTANT beauty news. Make sure you are following so you don’t miss out on anything!

I found sarahlovsmakeup just by browsing the photos section, and I love the clean, minimalist photos that she puts up. She also has a brilliant blog that matches this theme (very VDM if you ask me). I really like the way she lays out her photos and I take a lot of inspiration from accounts like this, where you think ‘ooh that looks cool’, and try and imitate it! Also, she is gorgeous and does her own make up fabulously :).

I’m going to be honest here and say that I love Amelia, but I can’t watch her videos because I find her voice a little grating. I’m sorry if that’s harsh but it doesn’t take away from the fact that she is a brilliant blogger, she gives a great insight into high end beauty and fashion (because she looks like she’s mega rich!). She infamously uses little snippets of tape to help her keep her eye make up clean, so essentially she is just a normal girl with an abnormally overwhelming impulsion to hoard make up (I think there are many that suffer from this).

Ever since ordering my Lorac Pro palette, I am truly converted to their formulas and this Instagram account brings you all the news in their product range, but also great close ups and collaborations with bloggers and make up artists to showcase their make up. However, when pay day hits it can be quite dangerous browsing their photos as it can get you when you are most vulnerable and able to make several large ‘investments’, shall we call them!

That sums up my top 5 beauty Instagrammers, don’t forget you can follow me on Instagram @snosh90, leave a comment with your account name so I can expand this list to top 10, 20 or 30!

Thank you for reading 🙂

Nail the Heart Look – Valentines Day Nails

Hello Everyone!

Here is a simple look for valentines day, that puts a little spin on your usual French Manicure…

be patient with the heart...
be patient with the heart…

For this look, essentially it is created using a few layered polishes.

Firstly, a pale pink base coat, with white french tips, glitter over these and a little red heart on the ring finger (done delicately with a pointy nail brush).

This can be a bit fiddly, but if you are patient and you aren’t in a rush then taking your time will really help keep this look neat.

These are the products that I used:

yeah…that’s a fluffy hoody

I really like the glitter on the tips, which is an ideal way to make your french manicure look a bit more sparkly and feminine!

Here are a few more pictures to show the details:

This was BEFORE applying the glitter top coat:

What are your favourite nail looks to wear on Valentines Day?!

Find me at :)

I’ve made the move! You can now find me at…

This is not a make up related post…shock horror :p! On Sunday I made the move to register my own domain, which is now complete and I am very happy with it!

As I have only just changed over, please bear with me as there might be things that have gone awry but I will be keeping my watchful eye on it to make sure it doesn’t affect posting…you will still get 3 posts a week minimum.

It wasn’t the easiest process and I have a few tips to give you if any of you are looking at migrating your blog to a self hosted custom domain.

All in all it took about 1 and a half days of me looking into it and checking before it was completely wrapped up, I think this tends to vary depending on who you buy your domain and hosting from. Speaking to other bloggers who have already made the move to self hosted was useful too, even if they did it in a different way!

The tips I have for you…

  • Research – reading up on forums and how to’s will help you massively and give you an idea of any problems you might encounter, and how to fix them.
  • Make a list of the whole migration process – Now, as far as I see it you have two options. First one is to buy a self hosted domain and map it to your site. This will keep your likes, comments and followers as normal. Second one is to export and import your blog into a self hosting platform that has WordPress integration…BUT the likes on your posts won’t be transferred (I didn’t know this until after I had imported it, but luckily you can map it afterwards).
  • If you want Google Analytics and want to keep your likes on your posts, you have to have a business WordPress upgrade for analytics.
  • Keep a record of all order references for your domain and hosting, many sites offer a 30 day refund so that if anything happens you know you can go back to normal if needed.
  • Keep the support details of your hosting company handy in case you need to raise a ticket or email them, they are the experts and can help you!
  • REMEMBER that your WordPress blog still exists unless you delete it 🙂

I am really glad that I am now at, it’s really exciting and I can’t wait to focus on giving you reviews, how to’s and posts that are perfect to read with a cup of tea!

(Trust me, articles about hosting and domains just don’t go with a cuppa and a Malted Milk!)
