Zoeva Rose Gold Luxury Brush Set

Be prepared for the most beautiful set of brushes you will ever see with your eyes.

I am now mostly obsessed with anything rose gold colour, and in particular I now happen to be a very lucky owner of a Zoeva Rose Gold Luxury Brush set.

These brushes pretty much give you all you need for make up application, and the quality of them is just incredible. Considering they are tools, they feel so luxurious to use and they genuinely do make all the difference to how you apply your make up.

Don’t get me wrong, it is quite a pricey set, but these brushes will last you a lifetime and they are such high quality that even after regular washing and drying the brushes should still stay in tact and as good as new.

The set contains the following brushes:

  • 102 Silk Finish
  • 106 Powder
  • 110 Face Shape
  • 127 Luxe Sheer Cheek (my favourite as it taught me how to contour)
  • 142 Concealer Buffer
  • 227 Luxe Soft Definer (my second favourite)
  • 231 Petit Crease
  • 317 Wing Liner

The mix of brushes you get in this set is ideal as there isn’t one where you think ‘I’m definitely not going to use this!’ I will add some more pictures so you can see them in all their beauty close up…

Ah, I have washed them for the first time and I have to say they wash very well, the only thing is that on the pointed Luxe Sheer Cheek brush a couple of the strands have come away from the rest but that’s me nit picking.

All in all, a worthwhile investment (I hear some people saying, ‘Pah!’ But I don’t care) and I really enjoy using and looking at these brushes!

Do any of you guys have the Zoeva brushes? What do you think?

Thanks for reading 🙂

Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award Tag

I am VERY lucky and grateful to have been nominated for my second award in two months :). Big thanks to Blonde Amy for my nomination, please go and check out her blog, it’s brilliant!

I am really grateful as I only really started putting more effort into my blog in December and I have started to see more lovely readers come and land on Roshni Reviews. To be nominated for two awards in two months is really something and I am very happy!

Here are the rules of the award:

Thank the blogger who nominated you & linking back to their site.

  • Put the award logo on your blog.
  • Answer the ten questions sent to you.
  • Make up ten new questions or your nominees to answer.
  • Nominate seven bloggers who you feel deserve the award.

Now, to answer the questions! (I love doing this :D)

1. Who/What was your greatest blog inspiration?

I would probably say that finding Anna’s blog, Vivianna Does Makeup really inspired me to take my thoughts of ‘I’d like to write about make up, I think I have something valuable to say’ to actually starting a blog. I really love the way that she uses large, brilliant quality images and she writes so candidly and honestly about any products she has used. Also, she is really relatable and very funny!

2. Any blog goals for 2015?

When I hit 100 followers (hopefully this will be soon if you guys still like reading my rambly posts) I want to get my own custom domain. I think for me this will take my blog from something that really did start as a complete hobby to something that I can start to hone and get an idea of where you lovely people are coming from! Other than that I really just want to carry on and keep posting good quality content…and making sure that at the end of it all I enjoy it.

3. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?

Hmm this is a difficult one, there are SO many places that I would love to go so will be difficult to pick only one! I have always wanted to go to Australia, but in all honesty the only reference I have to what Australia is like is watching Neighbours…how bad is that. (It also annoys me when the camera is in Susan’s house, they have the door open and you can see that it’s a painted screen with a fake backdrop) I don’t quite know at what point in my life I’ll be able to visit some of these places, but hopefully I will be able to because you only have one life and you can’t go through it with your eyes shut.

4. Tea or Coffee?

OH MY GOD TEA, tea all the way. I love tea. In particular, I love home made indian chai which is delicious but likely to give you diabetes. Plus a dairy overdose. The only way I like coffee is in desserts, I like the smell of coffee but not the taste, it’s way too bitter. I LOVE coffee on one condition…if it is in the form of a tiramisu.

5. Where do you see yourself in 10 years time?

Welllll this is depressing. In 10 years time I will be 35. So what I’m hoping, is that I will be settled in my own house, with a family and children of my own. A career is very important to me, I am independent and do not really like relying on people for help etc (basically I’m a stubborn cow)! Not sure whether blogging will still be in my life, OR if it will even be a ‘thing’ as that will be in 2025! Woah…

6. You have a date with a celebrity of your choice, who is it and what will you wear?

Ooooooh, good question Amy! Hmm, OK, if I was to go on a date with a celebrity of my choice I think it would have to be Chris Helmsworth. What would I wear? Funny you should ask, Chris if you are interested, I received an email newsletter from Miss Selfridge today and it would have to be this dress below…WANT:

7. What is your go-to make-up product?

I have two ‘go to’ make up products, and the first one which is a staple is mascara. Wearing mascara really opens up your eyes and it makes ALL the difference.

My second staple is a more specific product, but it is the Maybelline Colour Tattoo in ‘On and On Bronze’ which is a brilliant wearable bronze-y gold-y cream eyeshadow that doesn’t crease at all. I can wear it all day at work and when I get home it still looks like I have just applied it. It’s really blendable at the same time so looks great in the evening too.

8. Any Holy Grail hair products you have found?

Well! I have only recently cut my hair into a graduated bob, and I think the holy grail product I have found is the Blow Pro texturising spray. The ends of my bob tend to naturally curl under once I’ve dried it, so what happens is my bob makes me look REALLY young when it’s like that. After I have straightened my hair I spray some of the Blow Pro spray in and it helps to rough it up a bit.

9. What job would you love to have?

I currently work in marketing, and I do have to say I really enjoy it. I have considered quite a few different things so I can’t really pin one down. I have always been interested in teaching, blogging, fashion and food so as you can see there’s quite a few different avenues I could go down!

10. What is your favourite film?

Hmm, I am a massive Disney fan so it would more than likely be one of those. I’d probably say Sword in the Stone as it reminds me of days at home when I was little putting that on (probably on VHS but I can’t remember), so it brings back lots of fond memories!

My Ten Questions are…..

1. Who has inspired you to start blogging?

2. What was your favourite make up trend of 2014?

3. Would you ever start your own Youtube channel? If so, what would it be about?

4. If you could give one tip to an aspiring blogger, what would it be?

5. Who is your biggest style inspiration?

6. Your most favourite food?

7. What would you say is the one thing you want to achieve in the next 5 years?

8. What is your favourite make up product?

9. What are your top online fashion sites to buy from?

10. Describe your perfect weekend 🙂

Aaaaaand the nominees are:

1. I Think It’s Ashley

2. Owning Your Okayness

3. Miss Coco

4. Stained Vanity

5. Popmodblog

6. Miss Sheena Blogs

7. Lorraine In England

I apologise if you have already been nominated! Please link me so I can see your answers :), and please go and check out the blogs above, they are all great with brilliant content.

Thanks for reading 🙂

Top 7 Make Up Sins

Sometimes when I walk around the shops, or around town, I see things.

I see things that make me shudder a little inside…and although a few of these I am probably guilty of as well, I thought it would be fun to list the top 7 make up sins. Are you guilty of any of these? 🙂

images from google...not my own photo stream *phew*
images from google…not my own photo stream *phew*

This one might not be as common for some of you readers, as you are all actively interested in make up and probably make sure you do it right. Far too many times have I seen girls with what look like caterpillars across their lash line. I get it, when you go to put on your new false eyelashes you get excited and want to put them on straight away. Please remember, if you have narrow eyes,  hold the strip of false eyelashes up against your eye and trim them to size! Or they end up going south at the ends, and this will just make you look like that Droopy dog called…Droopy. TRIM THEM FROM THE OUTSIDE EDGE INWARDS!

We have ALL probably seen this one before. Being brown, I don’t tend to suffer from this very much as the colour matches of my foundations tend to be good, or I just don’t wear it at all. The solution to that orange tidal mark around your jaw line is to BLEND your foundation down into your neck as well. If there is no blending, you end up looking like you have been tangoed and then sucked into a giant hoover nozzle and spat back out. You now have my permission to stop picturing that scene.

Heading down a similar route to the above Sin, I have to say I have probably been guilty of this when trying to jump on the Contour Bandwagon to Cheeksboneville. As I’ve probably mentioned lots of times before, my face is perfectly and annoyingly spherical, and trying to find my cheekbones is like trying to find your keys in a gutter (strange analogy I know). Having finally learnt how to contour with a darker, colder toned brown shadow rather than an orangey based bronzer, I need to remember again to blend blend blend. Or I will start to resemble a tiger cub with facial markings. RAR.

Now, I don’t feel right if I haven’t pencilled my eyebrows in. I have eyebrows. They are dark coloured so you can actually see them before hand. Still, I don’t feel right if they are left untouched. The difficulty I have is when you use a smaller mirror in order to get your eyebrows PERFECTLY pencilled in…and then you put the small mirror away and look at a normal mirror from a further distance. They have mutated from the gentle, arching face-framing brows to large, thick and harshly lined evil caterpillars. The key here, is to look into a normal mirror every now and then to make sure you aren’t going OTT.

Again, this can be the trouble with looking into a smaller, or more close up mirror. When you are applying liquid eyeliner and you slowly start to build up that perfect line you have got, remember that the line is not meant to take up half of the width of your eyelid. Sisters all around will understand how hard it is to get your eyeliner to match, but that doesn’t mean making the line as thick as a slick of tippex across your lid!

I love MAC Mocha blush as much as the next person, but if I apply too much it can easily give me the ruddy cheeked appearance of Hagrid from Harry Potter. Especially in the winter months you might want to go with a more grown up, darker toned blush, but don’t forget to compare it to your normal skin tone and apply it lightly to gradually build up.

Highlighter is meant to be used in certain areas, to create a subtle glow which can help you look healthier. However, if you get it wrong it can look like you have been in a fist fight with a glitter ball. I think buying cheap, coarse glitters as your highlight can be an easy trap to fall into. It’s worth spending a little bit more and getting a finer milled powder, and also sticking to the areas where it is meant to be used. This means brow bone, very tops of the cheekbones, cupids bow, slight sweep down the nose and that should be plenty :).

What are the most comment make up sins you have seen? Or which ones are YOU guilty of? I can hold my hands up to about 5 of these!

National Asian Wedding Show

Hi ‘Pressers!

My eldest sister is engaged, so we went to the National Asian Wedding Show at the Birmingham Motorcycle Museum last weekend. This was a great opportunity for me to see all of the make up artists, hair stylists and fashion exhibitors, and obviously as it was an Asian show that meant there was ALOT of bling to see!

I thought I would show you some of the best pictures from the day, tell me your favourite!

Can’t forget the men!
Yes, this cost over a grand…
Beautiful decor!
Not your average sofa…

We also went to a catwalk show, which was about an hour long and we saw lots of really lovely saris and outfits…some of the colour combinations were dreadful, but most of them were blingy, bright and beautiful!

What do you think of the outfits, any favourites? We had a lovely day all in all, ate some lovely food and saw LOTS of saris!

Thanks for reading/looking at poorly taken photos 🙂

A Mauve Smokey Eye

Hello ‘Pressers!

Today I’ve got a matte smokey eye for you that is centred around purples and browns. I used my Lorac Pro palette, which I originally reviewed here, and I have been loving experimenting with all the different shades! In particular, there are quite a few lovely purple shades which when used together are great for creating a mauve smokey eye.

Here’s a picture to show you the finished look, and then I will give you a simple run down of how to create it. People talk about smokey eyeshadow like it’s really difficult to do but at the end of the day, if you have some time to blend it out usually it’s not too hard to achieve something half decent!

So the first thing was to prime my eyes, I used the Lorac primer that came with the palette:

Once I had smoothed the primer over my eyelid and up to my eyebrow, I selected the shade ‘Mauve’ on an eyeshadow brush and swept this over the whole lid, not going too far up the eye. I added some ‘Cream’ as a brow highlight, and in the inner corner to make sure it’s not too dark.

Then I used a fluffy brush, like the Zoeva 227 ‘Luxe Soft Definer’ and started to build up some ‘Sable’ in the crease, blending only a little back and forth throughout.  Then, to start to make this slightly darker, I used ‘Espresso’ in the same way.

On an angled brush (I used the Zoeva 317 ‘Wing Liner’ brush), I then applied some ‘Deep Purple’ along the top and bottom lash line. On the bottom lash line I then buffed this out with the Zoeva 231 ‘Petit Crease’ brush to make sure the lines aren’t too harsh.

I lined my top waterline (or is it tight line? I have no idea!) with this Max Factor brown kohl pencil:

Lining your upper waterline is great for making your eyelashes appear fuller and darker, without having to layer on loads of mascara…

Then, to finish up I used the brilliant Maybelline ‘The Falsies’ mascara, and used the L’Oréal Superliner to draw a thin line, slightly winging this out at the end.

I’m looking forward to using ‘Garnet’ from this palette as well, all of the shades are great to work with and the texture is smooth and almost…buttery (weird, I know). That’s just a sign of how amazing this palette is!

The Concealer Upgrade

For about a year and a half, I have been quite loyal to the Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection concealers because they stay put all day, give medium to high coverage and are completely matte! However, I thought there might be a concealer out there that was less thick, less drying and more highlighting.

I used to use shade 3 and 4 mixed when I concealed dark circles and blemishes. I quite like mixing concealer shades, so I stuck with this with what I’m calling my ‘Concealer Upgrade’:

concealer upgrade - 16th jan1

The shades I bought were 20 (lighter) and 30 (darker). The formula of these is great! I was really pleased when I first tried them. The concealer isn’t too thick which means it’s really blendable, and there is not a hint of sparkle or shimmer which means it is highlighting without being too in your face.

Although the formula is thinner than the Collection 2000, if this concealer is set with powder it lasts all day, and doesn’t crease as much as the Lasting Perfection.

I really like the packaging of these as well, they look ALOT like the NARS Creamy Concealers, but at a fraction of the price.

The darker shade looks quite daunting to use, but blended with the lighter shade, it is just right for my skin tone.

Another perk of this upgrade is that I don’t get black ink from the packaging all over my hands like I used to with the Collection 2000 concealers!

Have any of you guys used the Maybelline Fit Me concealers? What are your favourites?

Thanks for reading 🙂

Ciaté Mini in ‘Silhouette’

Hi Everyone!

This is becoming a bit of a weekly thing now (a nail look post), so just to introduce the schedule from here on out I will be posting at least 3 times a week, with a nail look on Sunday at the beginning of the week. Then I will also be posting on Wednesday and Saturday! (P.S There may be some bonus posts on some weeks so keep your mascara’d eyes peeled).

The nail polish I have tried this week is one of the mini’s from the Ciaté Christmas Advent Calendar, which is called ‘Silhouette’. I think the name is very fitting for a polish of this colour as it is very chic, understated and glamorous. The colour itself is a burgundy, browny red, with a touch of glitter throughout it. When it catches the light, the red that shows up is much more of a true red and this makes it pretty special for me.

Tilted the polish so you can see how the glitter shines gold and red!

This polish does need a good two coats in order to build up the colour and opacity. When you apply the first thin coat, it looks like a really light pink. Once you let that dry for a few seconds and apply the second coat it takes on a whole new dark, moody colour which I LOVE <3.

Such a gorgeous colour!

What are your favourite colours to start the new year with?

I think I just can’t let go of the burgundy’s…:(

Thanks for reading 🙂 xxx

3 Things I’ve Hit Pan On

Most of you guys will know what that means, and will be nodding along thinking of the products that YOU have hit pan on.

Essentially, products that I have loved so much I have started to wear down right to the bottom. Maybe one of the reasons that I only have 3 things is that I actually have lots of things…which means that going shopping is even more dangerous…particularly if the shopping destination has a MAC or Boots.

OK, so here is a run down of the three powder products I have hit pan on:

1. MAC ‘Fleur Power’ Satin Powder Blush –

I think this was the first MAC blush I had ever used. It is quite a bright blush, but only a little is needed and it has great lasting power. I usually use a flat top make up brush such as the buffing brush from ‘Real Techniques’ which is good for applying just where you want it. I now use ‘Dainty’ daily, which is a light pink ‘MAC Mineralise’ blush and has lovely tiny gold shimmer running through it. You can see that I’m a swirler…

 2. Rimmel Stay Matte Translucent Powder –

This powder is brilliant for setting concealer, and I couldn’t do my make up without it! So great for long days in the office or when you are out at a sweaty club for the whole evening! (ew, I know). I just use the translucent shade, and that is enough to keep everything in place. You can see how battered my powder is, and how many times I have dropped it because of the cracks in the plastic case!

3. Benefit ‘Hoola’ Bronzer –

Now obviously I am Indian, so I don’t really need a bronzer. I guess I use this more as a powder on days when I feel paler, and sometimes a contour if I am trying to make my round face look slightly less round. This shade is ideal as it’s not too dark, or orange toned. I also have a Nars Laguna bronzer but I actually think that could be more orange toned than this, so I use that quite sparingly.

What are your favourite products that you’ve hit pan on? 🙂

The Liebster Award!

Hello ‘Pressers!

[Update, Unachicaandherblog has just nominated me too, March 2015! Big thank you :)]

The lovely Vogue Infatuation has nominated me for the Liebster Award, and this being my first ever award anyone has nominated me for, I am really grateful and excited :). December really marked a change for me in blogging, and I have seen the biggest uplift since I started posting more frequently with what I feel is more relevant, exciting articles. I am now posting at least 3 times a week so everyone (including me) can get their full dosage of beauty news and rambly reviews!

The rules of the award are:

…There were no rules on VI’s blog and for this I am pleased!

NOW, onto the questions :):

1. What’s three things on your bucketlist?

This is a brilliant question to begin with! OK, I would LOVE to do a skydive or bungee jump one day. I know it sounds really scary and sick inducing but I still think it would be a great experience to feel that close to…flying!

I definitely want to go to the Caribbean on a holiday (which I know isn’t much of a bucket list thing but still something I want to do!) Mostly for the sun, clear waters, palm trees and white sandy beaches…ahh one can dream.

Third thing would probably be to write my own novel. I’ve always been a keen writer and I have ALWAYS had a very active imagination! I think the hardest thing there will be discipline…but this blog is teaching me that already!

2. Craziest thing you’ve done?

I’ll be really honest here…I’m not a crazy person at all (I don’t mean mentally I mean on the kookiness scale). I think the ‘craziest’ thing I can think of is probably starting this blog! Oh and meeting Gabby from Velvetghost and ACTUALLY going up to talk to her…

3. What’s one place you would love to visit?

Ahh well I’ve already kind of answered this point in the first question! I think because of that I’ll tell you the NEXT place I want to visit. That’s India. My mum and dad are from India and I have only been once before, but I was too young to remember much other than the plane journey and probably stealing a mango from someone’s tree.

4. Best thing you have accomplished?

So far, I would say going from having completed an English Literature and Media degree, to having 2 weeks work experience and then landing a job in marketing with very little experience. Proving myself in a role like that within 1-2 years was something I was very proud of, and I hope to top that at some point too!

5. Favourite item (clothings, jewellery, etc)

At the moment, I would say that my favourite items of clothing so far are my Minnie Mouse onesie 🙂 and my navy velvet long sleeve swing dress from Boohoo that I bought before Christmas. For jewellery, I would have to say my gold ear cuff from Urban Outfitters!

6. Favourite food?

Hmm, well I have to say…I LOVE FOOD. I get excited about eating out, I often drool over Foodstagrams and I love baking as well. I think my favourite food would have to be a traditional Indian curry (made by my mum, of course) and chapattis. That, or some samosas home made with my sister’s secret recipe dip.

7. What made you start blogging?

I decided to start my own blog after I had started getting into watching a lot of Youtube tutorials. I found one of Tanya Burr’s make up tutorials one day whilst browsing, and it all went off from there really. As I’m not the most confident person in the world, I thought that a blog would be a great way to put something out there that might be of value to someone somewhere, and I just want to say I’m really grateful to anyone who visits my modest little blog!

8. Where do you hope your blog to be in five years?

This is a difficult one, as I would say my blog is really a little new born baby in the blogging world. I guess here I can only say what I would LIKE to happen. I would love to, for now, keep my blog as something I enjoy using as a way to express my opinion, but eventually I would love to expand to working with brands and becoming a more full time blogger..which I know is a pipe dream but we all have it!

9. Funniest moment you’ve had?

This is easy to think of. About 12 – 13 years ago, I was in a café with my best friend from school and her mum, and I was just about to open a sachet of ketchup to dip my chips into. I struggled with the sachet, and ended up squirting the longest line of it across the table, all the way across the floor, and right up a man’s trouser leg. He was wearing cream chinos. Yep. Stifling those hoots of laughter was seriously hard!

10. Where do you see yourself in five years?

In five years I hope to maybe see myself still blogging or writing in some way, happy and probably starting a family of my own 🙂

Thanks for reading, I nominate the below bloggers (apologies if you have already been nominated!):

Here are my questions to you!

1. Who is your idol in life?

2. If you could pick one person to play you in your life story, who would it be and why?

3. What is your favourite film?

4. What is the hardest thing you have had to experience so far in life?

5. What’s the one beauty product you cannot live without?

6. Who is your biggest style inspiration?

7. If you could be an animal for a day, which would it be and why?

8. What made you start blogging?

9. What are your most visited online retailers?

10. What’s your most annoying habit?

I look forward to reading your answers, let me know if you do it!

Gems from the Post Christmas Sales…

I thought I’d show you a few of my favourite things that I bought in the post Christmas sales. I know we are well into the joyful throes of January now, but it’s never too late to show off your shopping (in my opinion).

I think I was pretty good this year and I didn’t go mad. Not like Christmas time when my Dad was getting increasingly annoyed with the number of deliveries arriving at our house…oops.

The first place I went to was Matalan, where sometimes I go and find nothing, other times I go and just want to buy EVERYTHING. This time I was more sensible, and picked up a few essentials (ehem).

The first thing was this beautiful statement necklace, which has pale pink and dark purple gems/bits of plastic in. It was half price from £10 to £5, bargain!

Although it looks wuite orangey in this light, the gems are dark purple!
Although it looks wuite orangey in this light, the gems are dark purple!

I think this would look great with a black high neck top, to really add some colour to an outfit.

The second thing I got from Matalan was a gorgeous grey wool scarf. Not the massive knitted type, but more of a softer, kind of blanket like scarf. It is so so soft, and I instantly feel warm when I put it on! It was £7, down from £12.

Don't you just want to crawl in there and curl up like a cat...
Don’t you just want to crawl in there and curl up like a cat…

The third, and probably my most favourite thing that I bought was from The Calendar Club and it was an Edward Monkton Diary for 2015 (it had 40% off as 2015 had already started, making it only £5.49!

The animations and little sayings in it really make me smile, and it always makes me think of my dear friend Geri who first showed me Edward Monkton.

TOAST. REVENGE. 'Nuff said.
